Blueair is founded in Sweden for nearly three decades, and this is one of the best air purifier brands at the moment, sold to Unilever. The company has sold air purifiers to more than 60 countries, and the latest Blueair DustMagnet 5410i is the original model in the DustMagnet 5400 series. Let’s use our Blueair DustMagnet 5410i Review as a benchmark to know whether you should buy this air purifier or not.
Other Blueair’s Air Purifier Reviews:
Blueair DustMagnet 5410i Price
As usual, Blueair will release the big to small models in the same family. The Blueair DustMagnet 5410i is currently the most powerful air purifier in the whole DustMagnet series, along with its premium brother Blueair DustMagnet 5440i.
This air purifier is exactly what you need for your bedroom, and we decide it will be the next candidate in our list of the best air purifiers. It does enough to warrant upgrading from the previous Blueair DustMagnet 5210i.
The Blueair DustMagnet 5410i isn’t the best performance you can get for your money, its brothers in other families like the Blue Pure 121 or Blueair Classic 405 do better, but its annual cost is the best we’ve seen in a Blueair air purifier, and you’re still getting top-level performance of HEPASilent technology, as well as lots of smart features.
While on their own none of the upgrades are huge to predecessors, they add up to offer a fantastic air purifier experience. And Blueair DustMagnet 5410i starts at $399, meaning it asks only $40 more than its 5200 series siblings. That’s the best “dust-magnet” you can buy right now.
There are a few air purifiers at this price range with similar performance to the Blueair DustMagnet 5410i, like the Medify MA-50, Vornado PCO575DC or TruSens Z-3500, but their suggested room coverage are far too greedy to compete with the DustMagnet 5410i, being certified by the AHAM.
However, you should also check out for the Winix XLC and Levoit Everest

Blueair DustMagnet 5410i Design and Size
The Blueair DustMagnet 5410i is the company’s most premium air purifier in its own family yet that doesn’t include the textile gray color option like its Blueair DustMagnet 5440i. If you’re looking for an air purifier with just half the price of the powerful Blueair HealthProtect 7770i, this DustMagnet air purifier should suit you perfectly.
Blueair’s design is different between families, but in the same DustMagnet family, the differences are minimal.
Blueair DustMagnet 5410i comes with a very special design that being marketed as the “table” air purifier. It has a small table on top so you can try and put anything on its for convenient. Blueair said that it can hold books, pictures, and more easily. That’s truly the winner of the 2021 iF Design Award and a 2021 Red Dot Design Award.
You get the same matte white color from the original DustMagnet 5210i. If you want the more premium version, you should look for the Blueair DustMagnet 5410i. We’re hoping to get the most expensive DustMagnet air purifier for reviewing.
As a dust magnet, the Blueair DustMagnet 5410i runs the same airflow system concept as its brothers, and it uses double filters for better performance. The air inlets of this air purifier are from both top and bottom, while the air outlets are from each side. The airflow system concept is really strange, as only the DustMagnet series is using it.
The only difference between the Blueair DustMagnet 5410i and its own 5200 siblings is the size. The Blueair DustMagnet 5410i is slightly bigger at 25.6 inches in height and 11.4 inches in width. However, it is 50% increase in weight, as it weighs 15 lbs.
You can find the control panel beneath the table of this air purifier, and it doesn’t have many buttons, because the Blueair DustMagnet 5410i is a smart air purifier. You will control it via smartphone or voice commands.

Blueair DustMagnet 5410i Filters
As the most important criteria to decide the performance of one air purifier, we always look at the quality and material of the air filters, as well as the number of air filter types in the testing device. Blueair DustMagnet 5410i features the signature HEPASilent technology in its special dual air filters.
- Pre-filter – For best performance, you’re required to clean the pre-filter weekly. It can trap large objects of pollutants, to prolong the life time of the Combo Filter.
- Combo Filter – The combination of True HEPA filter and Activated Carbon filter, the Blueair DustMagnet 5410i removes light household odors, chemicals, and gases, as well as 99.97% of airborne particles, like pollen, dust, viruses…
The core of HEPASilent technology is its combination of both electrostatic charging and mechanical filtration to improve the performance of the HEPA filter. With dual air filter, the Blueair DustMagnet 5410i can double the efficiency of trapping fine particles.
However, the Blueair DustMagnet 5410i doesn’t have a honeycombed carbon filter like its brothers from HealthProtect or Classic families. So its effectiveness at dealing with chemicals or Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) is not as good.
Still, this is the certified air purifier by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) for its great performance. Blueair DustMagnet 5410i also doesn’t emit ozone, certified by both the CARB and Intertek.
The last but not least, all of Blueair air filters are naturally anti-bacterial and 100% recyclable. It is free of chemicals and binders.
Unlike the original Blueair DustMagnet 5210i, the Blueair DustMagnet 5410i upgrades the fan power to match the competition. Even with lower tested fan power, both 5400 series can match Medify MA-50‘s power at capturing 99.92% of any particles down to 0.3 microns in 300 square feet, for 1 hour. Such performance is better than the Aeris aair Lite, TruSens Z-3500 or Boneco P400.
The Combo filter of the Blueair DustMagnet 5410i and DustMagnet 5440i is a bit more expensive at $54, but for 12 months of life time, it is still economical.

Blueair DustMagnet 5410i Room Coverage
Blueair DustMagnet 5410i is certified by the AHAM, hence the manufacturer doesn’t need to suggest room coverage for this air purifier. Both 5400 models are certified to clean up to 357 square feet. While that may not match a lot of other manufacturers on paper, we found that any air purifiers complying with AHAM certification is better in terms of quality. That’s why we consider it as an increase in performance ranking. Also, you should check its CADR rating, as the Blueair DustMagnet 5410i is a real deal for its price range.
The ACH of Blueair DustMagnet 5410i is 5X. This ACH rating is certified by AHAM too, so you can enjoy clean air every 12 minutes.

Blueair DustMagnet 5410i Sound
At higher fan power, you should expect a louder noise level from the Blueair DustMagnet 5410i. I measured the Blueair DustMagnet 5410i to run at 30 decibels (dB) on lowest fan speed, so I bet its lowest fan power must be on higher level to load enough air into its dual filters. Still, its noise level is the same as the whisper, and you won’t notice any sound at all.
On highest fan power, the Blueair DustMagnet 5410i performs a little better than the Blue Pure 311 Auto at 51 decibels. This is the effectiveness of HEPASilent technology.

Blueair DustMagnet 5410i Power Consumption
One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” An air purifier is meant to run for a long time to be efficient, that’s why many air purifier brands consider the energy-saving standard, mostly in the rate of Energy Star, is one important selling point.
The Blueair DustMagnet 5410i is an Energy Star-certified air purifier with a remarkable CADR rating per watt, since its rated power ranges between 7 and 42 watts. Yes, this is such an incredible air purifier with performance per power, and it is even better than its HealthProtect flagship brother.
If you use the Blueair DustMagnet 5410i for eight hours each day, you’ll pay no more than $15 per year. For its power, this could be the lowest annual cost you pay for an air purifier.

Blueair DustMagnet 5410i Additional Features
Blueair DustMagnet 5410i is a top pick for its combination of performance and great smart features. The Blueair DustMagnet 5410i ports nearly everything good from its top-of-the-line brothers, especially the Wi-Fi enabled feature. This air purifier is available to control anywhere with your smartphone app. It is also compatible with voice commands of Alexa and Google Assistant.
It obviously has a dust sensor, because the air purifier is a dust magnet itself. The Smart Sensor can activate Auto Mode, which adjusts to changing fan speed when pollution levels rise in your indoor environment and return to a slower speed once the air is clean. There is an advanced sensor to automatically turn on or off the device whenever you come and go.
The one thing special about the DustMagnet series is its Auto Start feature, this means that the unit will automatically restart at the set speed if a power failure occurs, the unit is unplugged or a power switch timer is used.
Night mode is available as a great material for your bedroom. When in night mode, your DustMagnet air purifier disables features you don’t need while sleeping. This includes the Air Quality Indicator LED light and adjusting to a whisper-quiet low speed.
Finally, you don’t need to track the filter life, because the DustMagnet 5410i will alert you on time.

Blueair air purifiers from the Blue family have only a 2-year warranty from the date of purchase (with valid proof of purchase). One quick reminder: Blueair doesn’t cover warranties from third-party sellers, so buying from Breathe Quality’s deals is highly recommended.

A perfect dust magnet for medium rooms, together with its more premium sibling.
