As I must say, the Blueair Classic 680i is the favorable card up Blueair’s sleeve. It has unmatched performance, even among the rank of Blueair family, high-end features and a built-in air sensor. Better design of the Blueair Classic 605 allows us to move the huge air purifier easily, and it also supports the air cleaning tasks.

However, if you are really a fan of Blueair, you will be a bit disappointed for the old sake appearance of the Blueair Classic 680i. For someone who doesn’t really need the Auto Mode on, the standard Classic 605 feels like it offers better value.

But hey, this is the biggest and most powerful Blueair Classic air purifier, and the Blueair Classic 680i can take the very best of its technology and combining it with an upgraded design that includes a new set of casters, smart and dynamic airflow system, and an extraordinary fan power. It is expensive, obviously, Blueair raises the price for the Blueair Classic 680i to $899 on its official website.

This air purifier is like it should be in the Pro family, as its price matches the Blueair Pro L. So if you’re not rich enough to swim regularly in a pool of money, it’s probably time to get saving.

Yes, it rivals the cost of some strongest air purifiers in the world, like the IQAir HealthPro Plus, Rabbit Air A3, Airpura UV600 or Austin Air Bedroom Machine. However, this Blueair Classic 680i is easily the most advanced air purifier among the rank. That’s how it’s designed to do very different things.

You will also find some interesting air purifiers for the price, most notably the Molekule Air. These air purifiers are much smaller than any aforementioned machines, and they don’t have such huge fan power. Blueair Classic 680i Design and Size

Blueair might not have changed the design of the Blueair Classic 680i compared to the previous Blueair Classic 605 (and even the Blueair Classic 505), but this design has already been improved. It has a three-dimensional air interaction that allows the machine to have a complete 360° air distribution. The air inlet and outlet are placed on both sides to cycle the airflow much better.

The rest of the design is very similar to what we’ve seen from the closest brother in 600 Series: the bottom air inlet and top air outlet, so the Blueair Classic 680i needs a very powerful fan motor to deliver such huge amount of airflow.

We have a housing made from durable, galvanized steel, which is premium both in feeling and looking. Blueair Classic 680i is built to last longer. It is also super big, with 26 inches in height and 20 inches in width. Luckily, we have 4 casters to help move this big air purifier, weighing at 35 lbs.

Ultimately, the design of the Blueair Classic 680i is pretty much identical to that of the Classic 605 – to the point where I managed to take the wrong device for our next performance test. The top control panel is still convenient and easy to use.

Blueair uses the unique HEPASilent technology to remove virtually all airborne pollutants. This technology combines both electrostatic and mechanical filtration, to ensure the maximum efficiency of trapping air pollutants. I highly recommend you to get the SmokeStop air filter, to increase the odor removal up to 4 times. It has given the name of DualProtection, with the addition of high-porosity coconut carbon, to remove gaseous pollutants, VOCs and chemicals much easier.

All of air filters made by Blueair has gradient filter structure, so they can resist clogging to maintain maximum airflow. However, the air filter is so high-quality that it can trap even airborne pollutants as small as 0.1 microns.

Though the internals of the Blueair Classic 680i are similar to the Classic 605, it performed better in our same test of 500 square feet. At efficiency of 99.99%, the Blueair Classic 680i was better than the IQAir HealthPro Plus, Oransi EJ120 or Alen BreatheSmart 75i.
