Blue Pure 511i Max Price

The Blue Pure 511i Max is a more expensive purifier than the Blue Pure 511, with Blueair adding smart connectivity and app control to the price; it does, however, bring a number of new features that make for a more premium unit, including HEPASilent dual filtration, a slightly upgraded filter stack, a new design and – the big hitters – smart app control and RealTrack filter monitoring.

It looks and feels the same as the Blue Pure 411i Max, as Blueair decided to keep this model while letting the 411i Max go out of stock. The Blue Pure 511i can be seen as a direct successor to the Blue Pure 411 Auto that we reviewed many years ago. The price of the Blue Pure 511 Auto is nearly the same, at $139.

As usual, buying through our Breathe Quality deal can get you a reduced price, and the Blue Pure 511i Max can drop as low as $110. The Blue Pure 511i Max is currently a bit more expensive than its competitors: Honeywell HPA125, GermGuardian AC3000 and Airmega 100; but it has the best smart features for the price. You can look for the Levoit Core 300S, but it will be more expensive than the Blue Pure 511i Max.

Blue Pure 511i Max Design and Size

The Blue Pure 511i Max is not the newest purifier in the official Blueair lineup even now that the Blue Signature models are here, as it takes the place of a solid low-range option without the handful of extra bells and whistles in the higher-end units. That is for the job of the Blue Pure 311i Max and Blue Pure 211i Max, but both are cheaper than the Blue Signature SP3i.

What does “purposeful” mean to you? If one were to say, the design of something is purposeful, would that mean the body of it was now bigger in bottom and more Scandinavian-looking? I mean, the design is still saying for the whole Blue family, redesigned from the previous Blue Pure 511, but Blueair has somewhat shifted its design ethos.

The Blue Pure 511i Max is now taller, at nearly 14.5 inches in height. So it is 1 inches in difference with the classic 511. We can still put the Blue Pure 511i Max on the nightstand, but we certainly consider it the “max” version.

You may wonder why the size listed on many websites, including Amazon, differs from what we stated for the Blue Pure 511i Max. We believe this is due to a mistake on the Blue Pure 411i Max website, as it has nearly the same dimensions as the Blue Pure 311i Max.

Other than that, the concept behind the Blue Pure 511i Max is similar to everything in the Blue family. It uses a 360° airflow system, with the air outlet on top. The only minor change is that the top control panel now consists of two buttons, each smaller than the single button on the classic Blue Pure 411 Auto.

Blue Pure 511i Max Filters

We check the performance of one air purifiers based on its air filters’ quality and material, as well as the number of air filter types in the testing device. The Blue Pure 511i Max represents the signature Blue 3-stage air cleaning system.

1. Pre-filter – It’s worth noting that the fabric pre-filter of the Blue Pure 511i Max is outside the air purifier. This is one great advantage of this pre-filter, because you can easily check its status and vacuum or wipe the contaminants out immediately.

3. Activated Carbon filter – The Activated Carbon filter is added inside the Particle filter and effective against smoke, odors, gases and VOCs.

The Blue Pure 511i Max still relies on the refined HEPASilent technology to handle fine particles. By combining a mechanical filter with an electrostatic charge, it requires less fan power to achieve the desired performance, thus reducing noise levels.

The Blue Pure 511i Max performs easily in its price range, as it can capture 99.95% of all particles down to 0.3 microns, for rooms up to 150 square feet, in 1 hour. It is the size of the most common master bedrooms at the moment, and you can expect this result is better than the Airmega 150 and GermGuardian AC5250PT.

The Blue Pure 511i Max uses a new filter named F5Max, which is bigger than the previous Blue Pure 511. It is recommended to replace after 9 months, but you should check your app for a more accurate filter life. The filter cost is $29, so it is a bit higher than other brands.

Blue Pure 511i Max Room Coverage

The Blue Pure 511i Max is tested and verified by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) to work well under 237 square feet. We recommend to use this air purifier for bedrooms.

The ACH of the Blue Pure 511i Max is 5X. As an AHAM-verified air purifier, the device can exchange air 5 times per hour in suggested room size.

The CADR of the Blue Pure 511i Max is 159 Dust/ 153 Smoke/ 174 Pollen (cfm). It is better than even the Levoit Core 300S that we deemed as the best air purifier 2 years ago, so expect a new king.

Blue Pure 511i Max Sound

Usually, we don’t need to worry about the noise level of compact air purifiers in the bedroom. At the lowest fan speed, they are extremely quiet. In this case, the Blue Pure 511i Max produces only 19 decibels (dB), which is quieter than the sound of rustling leaves.

On highest speed, the noise level of the Blue Pure 511i Max is still low, about 42 dB. This is perhaps the quietest air purifier tested at Breathe Quality till date.

All Blueair warranties are non-transferable.
