If you like your air purifier strong, affordable and retro, the new edition of the Blue Pure 211 Auto may be the best air purifier for you. It keeps the core of the Blue family: simplicity and sleek design, something that’s firmly rooted since the original Blue Pure 411.

The Blue Pure 211 Auto will be the smarter version of its predecessor, while the flagship Blue Pure 121 is still waiting for its smart version. That’s why it is currently the best option for large rooms you can buy from Blueair’s Blue family.

The Blue Pure 211 Auto also has gotten a price hike over its predecessor to $339, but even at this price point, it is still a formidable candidate of the best air purifier. It has superior performance and its CADR rating per watt is second to none.

However, you will only have the convenience of the Smart Sensor, and forget about everything else. Seriously the idea of “plug and play simplicity” is great, but nice touch of latest technology will boost the ranking of this air purifier better. Still, against the best competitors like the Hunter HP800, LivePure Bali or Vornado PCO375DC, the performance of this Blue Pure 211 Auto is one thing you desire.

But other competitors don’t stay still, and the release of the Winix XLC and Levoit Core 600S can shake the position of the Blue Pure 211 Auto tremendously.

Blue Pure 211 Auto Design and Size

There is familiar but there is expected update to the design. Blue Pure 211 Auto is such a well-worn look that we instinctually took to it, even though we know it’s not a look that’s ‘in’ right now.

It is the form of the Blue Pure 211, covered with the new customizable pre-filter colors that’s Scandinavian inspired. By default you get the Arctic Trail version, and you can ask Blueair for your most favorite option.

The Blue Pure 211 Auto stays on its rectangular shape and it’s quite big at 20 inches in height and 13 inches in width and depth. We still run the same bottom-to-top airflow system concept, and this design requires really big fan power.

We have only one button to control, which is physical and it feels great. It differs from the old model as the one-touch button is located on top, making it easier to touch and play. Not to mention the top air outlet is a bit better stylish (at least in my opinion).

Blue Pure 211 Auto is the same lightweight air purifier as the predecessor. It is only 12.5 lbs and you can move it around your home easily.

Blue Pure 211 Auto Filters

As the most important criteria to decide one air purifier’s power, we check the performance rating due to the materials of the filters and air filter types are used. Blue Pure 211 Auto remains the same 3-stage air cleaning system from its predecessors.

Combining both electrostatic charging of particles and mechanical filtration using a unique filter design, the Blue Pure 211 Auto’s HEPASilent technology is able to maximize its fan power, while keeping the highest performance like a real True HEPA filter.

Still, polypropylene fibers from this air purifier are free of chemicals and naturally anti-bacterial. Also, not like the cheap air purifier, this Particle filter is recyclable as plastic.

The Blue Pure 211 Auto is certified by both the AHAM and CARB for being efficient and safe to use. In Breathe Quality, the Blue Pure 211 Auto is tested against the top dogs of $300, most notable the Levoit Core 600S, LivePure Bali, TruSens Z-3000 and Oransi Max. Together with the Levoit air purifier, the Blue Pure 211 Auto is the clear winner at cleaning 99.93% of all particles down to 0.3 microns in the room of 300 square feet, for 1 hour.

Otherwise, you only benefit from a 1-year warranty. Moreover, do not attempt to bring the air purifier outside of the United States or Canada, or your warranty will be void immediately. All Blueair warranties are non-transferable.

Our verdict

Blue Pure 211 Auto, just like its brothers, brings a lot of power and headroom for a compact air purifier, while saving power and remaining quiet. It ranks S in pure performance, but still it lacks some basic features even for a $300 air purifier, and its annual cost jumps higher than the previous models like the Blue Pure 311 Auto. It is still a great recommendation in this price range from us, but the Levoit Core 600S is still our number one pick.
