PROS

  • Great performance
  • Energy Star rating
  • Smart features
CONS

  • Design is boring

Winix is more agressive on its low-range competition with big brands like Blueair, Levoit and Coway. We’re looking at the number one candidate of Winix in this Winix T810 review.

Other Winix’s Air Purifier Reviews:

Winix T810 Price

The Winix T810 is a culmination of the company’s efforts over a couple of years, and it’s the first time an air purifier from the company has felt like the complete tower package.

This is not the first time Winix has experimented with tower-style air purifiers. Years ago, the company released the Winix NK100 and Winix NK105. However, those models were large and expensive, which is clearly something Winix wanted to avoid with the newer Winix T810 and Winix T830.

The Winix T810 feels somewhat redundant alongside the Winix C610, as both models compete in the sub-$200 price range with very similar performance, design language, and smart features. Honestly, many readers are probably checking this review mainly to understand the differences between these two air purifiers.

At this price range, Winix is competing against nearly every major air purifier brand on the market. The competition includes tower-style models like the Levoit Core 400S, as well as American-designed air purifiers such as the Honeywell HPA830 and GermGuardian AC5900. And of course, there is the Blue Pure 311i Max, which we currently consider one of the best air purifiers available in this price segment.

Want the same performance in a different colorway? There’s also the Winix T830, which costs the same $199 and offers identical specifications in a white-and-blue finish. We make a different review for the Winix T830, and this is already the TLDR version for our beloved audiences.

Winix T810 Design and Size

The Winix T810 isn’t a big departure from the company’s last few cylindrical models, and if you’ve owned a purifier from the company since the Winix A230 you won’t be particularly surprised by the design philosophy here.

Indeed, we see the Winix T810 as something close to a larger version of the Winix A230, and at times it is genuinely difficult to distinguish between the Winix T810 and the Winix C610.

Honestly, the newer Winix T830 makes a stronger first impression thanks to its improved color option, making it much easier to say, “Hey, I’m the new air purifier.”

The Winix T810 has a clean cylindrical form with a wraparound air intake. On the top face is the touch control panel, and alongside the power button is a PlasmaWave toggle that enables you to quickly enable or disable this additional purification stage when you want to. The fan speed and auto mode controls are also on the top surface.

The body of the unit tapers gently toward the top, and we found that helped the T810 sit visually balanced in our living space without dominating the room. Note, though, that this isn’t a tabletop unit by any means: it measures 11.3 × 11.3 × 20.4 inches, and weighs 10.2 lbs – about typical for a cylindrical purifier of this output class.

So to wrap up, the Winix T810 is bigger and heavier than the Winix C610, but just a little.

Winix T810 Filters

We check the performance of one air purifiers based on its air filters’ quality and material, as well as the number of air filter types. The Winix T810 runs the same signature 4-stage air cleaning system as other Winix air purifiers.

  1. Pre-filter – The polluted air must pass through a mesh pre-filter. This pre-filter will capture the large objects of contaminants, such as pet hair and even some kinds of pet dander and skin. It is washable.
  2. True HEPA filter – The True HEPA Filter that captures 99.97% of as small as 0.3 microns allergens, virus particles, pollen, mold and fungi particles.
  3. Activated Carbon filter – The air filter can adsorb household odors from cooking, pets, and smoke and reduce VOCs.
  4. Winix PlasmaWave – This technology is somehow an ionizer, which can further reduce the amount of pollutants. Can be switched on/off.

Winix has stepped up its game here by including a new 360° all-in-one filter design with True HEPA rated at 99.99% capture efficiency down to 0.01 microns, and by deploying its PlasmaWave technology to improve molecular-level pollutant breakdown so that gases and odors not captured by HEPA are neutralized before re-entering the room.

There’s also an activated carbon layer embedded within the All-in-One filter that targets VOCs and household odors from cooking, pets, and smoke, while the fourth stage is the PlasmaWave system that generates hydroxyls to neutralize pollutants that survive the mechanical filter stages.

For the ressult, the Winix T810 and Winix T830 share the same result as the new trio Winix 5510, Winix 5520 and Winix 5530, under the same conditions. It is better than some competitors like the GermGuardian AC5900 and the Coway Airmega 160, though the difference isn’t large.

Winix T810 review

The Winix T810 and Winix T830 use the new Filter R, and you need to replace filter every 12 months. You must pay $54, which is a bit higher than what we usually pay at this price range.

Winix T810 Room Coverage

We have another Winix air purifier being verified by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM). This time, the Winix T810 is recommended for rooms up to 418 square feet.

The ACH of the Winix T810 is 5X. The air purifier can fully clean its AHAM-verified room size approximately every 12 minutes.

The CADR of the Winix T810 is 272 Dust/ 270 Smoke/ 277 Pollen (cfm). This is the strongest option in the current Winix lineup, beating both the Winix C610 and Winix 5510 in the same price.

Winix T810 Sound

The Winix T810 isn’t going to offer the quietest operation in its class, but it’ll run nearly silently at its lowest speed setting (only 23.8 decibels), making it comfortable to use in a bedroom or office with minimal disturbance. Only when pushing beyond Speed 2 does the fan noise start to intrude on a quiet room.

The maximum noise level of the Winix T810 is 58 decibels, which is decent for its fan power. That’s not a deal breaker, though – most users running the Winix T810 in Auto mode will find the unit spending the majority of its time at low speeds.

Winix T810 Power Consumption

One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” In fact, air purifier must be used for a long time to be efficient. And power consumption is one important criteria to review if this air purifier is good or not.

The Winix T810 is also an Energy Star Certified unit, so you’ll be equipped to keep running costs low even if you don’t track your kilowatt-hour consumption closely. With a power consumption of only 44 watts, the Winix T810 is truly an air purifier to buy if you value an energy-saving appliance.

The estimated operating cost for the Winix T810 is only around $20 per year when used for at least 8 hours per day.

Winix T810 Additional Features

At this point, nearly every modern Winix air purifier can connect to the Winix Smart app through Wi-Fi, allowing users to control the device remotely with a solid set of features and intuitive scheduling tools. The app also lets you monitor the remaining filter life percentage and sends alerts when it is time to replace the filter.

The Winix T810 has both dust and odor sensors to support its Auto mode. It takes effect as soon as it detects changes in the air quality, so you basically can forget your air purifier.

Finally, we have a Child lock setting, and a light sensor to activate the Night mode, which is good.
