Other Blueair’s Air Purifier Reviews:
Blueair HealthProtect 7470i Price
The Blueair HealthProtect 7470i isn’t the star of the Blueair HealthProtect series, like we’ve been used to for most of the past decade, but it’s a solid air purifier choice with an impressive upgraded HEPASilent Ultra technology, unique GermShield technology for 24/7 protection against viruses and bacteria, and great fan power. If you want the best of the best, look to the Blueair HealthProtect 7770i; but if you want a device that’s cheaper than the Pro series was at launch, with a whole load of premium features that not even the $2400 Pro model has, the Blueair HealthProtect 7470i is a delight to use, and will do you proud.
The Blueair HealthProtect 7470i is an odd device on paper, but having spent a week using it we’ve found it to be a highly capable that’s a pleasure to use, despite some of fan specs being dropped from previous Classic models at the same price range, notably the Blueair Classic 480i.
Why does the Blueair HealthProtect 7470i have lesser specs than the Classic counterpart? Two reasons. The first is that Blueair wanted to drop the price of its device.
The second is that the company is also putting a bigger focus on its Blueair HealthProtect 7770i, and just like the Blueair Classic 680i, it’s a device we’d readily recommend to those who are desperate to try the company’s latest innovations, and happy to pay.
As a Blueair air purifier, the Blueair HealthProtect 7470i is tested and certified by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM), California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Energy Star. Its official price is actually lower than both the Classic 480i and Pro M at $639, and you can spend even less with our deal.
If you want a bigger model, you can also look for the middle Blueair HealthProtect 7710i. This air purifier is a great contender for top-end machines like the Rabbit Air MinusA2, Alen BreatheSmart, Medify MA-112 and Airmega 400. Also, if you care more about the industrial fan blower, you should search for the Austin Air Pet Machine or Austin Air HealthMate Plus.

Blueair HealthProtect 7470i Design and Size
The design is where Blueair has made the most obviously noticeable changes over the family of Classic, or Pro (which we crowned one of the old best air purifiers), overhauling the materials used, the colors, and the overall look of the device.
This design concept will remain for all HealthProtect models, so getting a cheaper Blueair HealthProtect 7470i or even HealthProtect 7410i is okay.
Inspired by the smart design of the Blueair Classic 605, the Blueair HealthProtect 7470i features the Spiral Air outlets, which enable it to deliver more clean air to every corner of the room. There is a 27.2-inch height of this air purifier, so it’s even bigger than the top models of Classic family. However, the footprint is smaller at only 11.8 inches.
If you want a bigger device, the HealthProtect 7770i has the biggest size of the series. It is more expensive though.
Blueair has upgraded the premium LCD display, only for the 70 models of HealthProtect series. It gives detailed updates on your air quality – concentrations of different sized particles, VOC levels, temperature and humidity. The dynamic screen control is incredible, however, it’s more of a fingerprint magnet.

Blueair HealthProtect 7470i runs the most strange airflow system concept with the Spiral Air outlet. It can deliver more clean air than ever, as the outlet isn’t only on top, but on both sides. Problem is, this design hinders the fan power of the HealthProtect 7470i, so in paper its fan power is lesser than the Classic 480i.
At 27.6 lbs, the Blueair HealthProtect 7470i is just an average middle Blueair air purifier. You can move the air purifier easily as it has casters. Also, Blueair equips its next-gen air purifiers with cable winder, to store away any excess cable length. Such convenience.

Blueair HealthProtect 7470i Filters
As the most important criteria to decide the performance of one air purifier, we always look at the quality and material of the air filters, as well as the number of air filter types in the testing device. The HEPASilent technology of Blueair is notably one of the best air cleaning systems in the market, but Ultra version of the HealthProtect 7470i is much better.
- Pre-filter – For best performance, you’re required to clean the pre-filter regularly. It can trap large objects of pollutants, to prolong the life time of the Smart Filter.
- Smart Filter – The most advanced filter technology of Blueair, it can remove airborne pollutants and allergens such as pollen, dust, pet dander, mold spores, fine smoke particles and more. It is covered by activated coconut shell carbon, to adsorb chemicals, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC), and annoying household odors from cooking, smoke, and pets.
HEPASilent Ultra is the company’s own name for the next-gen air cleaning technology. By combining both electrostatic charging and mechanical filtration, the Blueair HealthProtect 7470i can stick the ultra-fine particles to the filter. The effectiveness of this technology is 99.97% of removing airborne particles down to 0.1 microns.
Once trapped, the combination of electrical charging and high airflow kills viruses and bacteria – which also helps prevent any bacterial growth within the air purifier itself. Such technology is named GermShield, and it is always available, even when the device is on standby.
The last but not least, all of Blueair air filters are naturally anti-bacterial and 100% recyclable. It is free of chemicals and binders.
In comparison with the Alen BreatheSmart, Rabbit Air MinusA2, Sharp FX-J80UW or Boneco P500, the Blueair HealthProtect 7470i showed better result in the same condition. It helps us know why the HEPASilent technology is the best, as the HealthProtect 7470i can remove 99.98% of all airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns, in a room of 300 square feet for just 1 hour.
The Smart Filter of the Blueair HealthProtect 7470i is equipped with a smart RFID chip that proactively monitors real-time usage and accurately judges when you need to replace it, with a maximum of 1-year life time. The filter costs only $69, which is quite higher than the previous Blueair devices, but it is still the lowest filter replacement cost among all mid to high-range air purifiers.

Blueair HealthProtect 7470i Room Coverage
Blueair is famous for its impressive high fan power, because its HEPASilent technology allows less-dense air filter, which delivers a uniquely high flow of clean air. The Blueair HealthProtect 7470i is suitable for any rooms up to 418 square feet, certified by the AHAM and Energy Start respectively.
The ACH of Blueair HealthProtect 7470i is 5X. This ACH rating is certified by AHAM too, so you can enjoy clean air every 12 minutes.
The CADR of Blueair HealthProtect 7470i is 275 Dust/ 270 Smoke/ 280 Pollen (cfm). On paper, such fan power is lower than both the Classic 480i and Pro M. However, the difference is really negligible and the HealthProtect 7470i is still a powerful air purifier you can get for any medium rooms.

Blueair HealthProtect 7470i Sound
There is a reason Blueair calls its technology HEPASilent. A less dense filter material means that the air purifier fan can run at lower speeds, making a lot less noise while delivering a uniquely high flow of clean air. It is quieter than the whisper at 25 decibels (dB), making the HealthProtect 7470i one of the quietest air purifiers of this company.
On highest, the HealthProtect 7470i is still impressive at just 53 decibels. Surely, you will hear sound, but it is just like any white noise from your typical fan. Also, the advanced Smart Sensor of the Blueair HealthProtect 7470i will adjust the fan speed to mostly remain on low speed, meaning it is usually quiet.

Blueair HealthProtect 7470i Power Consumption
One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” An air purifier is meant to run for a long time to be efficient, that’s why many air purifier brands consider the energy-saving standard, mostly in the rate of Energy Star, is one important selling point.
The HealthProtect 7470i is an Energy Star air purifier, so it keeps the power consumption at 48 watts on highest, which is less energy than a lightbulb. On lowest speed, the air purifier can go as low as 8 watts, far better than any Classic and Pro models at the same price range.
If you use the Blueair HealthProtect 7470i for 8 hours per day, you only need to pay $3 to $17 annually.
