Pet air quality is important to some and they’d be interested in this Blueair PetAir Pro P3i (seriously are you a pet owner?), and possibly less concerned about the high price. The specifications of this device aren’t premium, but the real effort went into making it work around the animal. Let’s read this Blueair PetAir Pro review.
Blueair PetAir Pro ranks A- in our air purifier ranking list. We give the biggest and most thorough database of air purifier reviews in the world.
In Breathe Quality, we have reviewed all air purifiers under these sections. Also, we guarantee that:
- We provide honest reviews (both pros and cons) so that everyone can make the best decisions.
- We do not (and never will) exaggerate one product just to let you click the links and buy that product blindly.

Blueair has spent nearly three decades redefining what a purifier can be, and the Blueair PetAir Pro is its most inventive answer yet – proof that the brand doesn’t just improve air quality, it reimagines the objects we use to do it. Time for the Blueair PetAir Pro review.
Other Blueair’s Air Purifier Reviews:
Blueair PetAir Pro Price
The Blueair PetAir Pro comes in one configuration that includes a high-performance air purifier, a fabric pet resting pad, and the FurLock fur-capture system reviewed here that offers all three in a single unit. The Blueair PetAir Pro is more than just an air purifier, as it also functions as a pet bed. However, you should note that Breathe Quality evaluates air purifiers solely based on their filtration performance, so we do not assess its performance in that role.
But the author is also a pet owner, and I recommend having a dedicated pet bed for your cat. It is a good spot for your pet to rest, and it helps keep your furniture safe and clean. Pet beds are not expensive, and sometimes you can even do it yourself and craft one, but the Blueair PetAir Pro acts as both a pet bed and a dedicated air purifier.
Problem is, the Blueair PetAir Pro is expensive, at $499. It is at the same price as the Blueair ComfortPure T10i and Blueair 2-in-1 Purify+Humidify Pro DH5i – both of them offer more functions than a standalone air purifier. So far, the price of the Blueair PetAir Pro can go a bit lower by checking Breathe Quality’s deal, but don’t expect it to be as affordable as a Blue Pure 511i Max.
If you don’t have pets in your home, the Blueair PetAir Pro is unnecessary. A standalone device like the Honeywell HPA6000 or GermGuardian Airsafe XL is cheaper and has better performance.

Blueair PetAir Pro Design and Size
Just take a look at the Blueair PetAir Pro, and you may ask yourself, “What is this appliance, really?” It is very different from a typical air purifier, whether a tower or console unit. It doesn’t immediately suggest that it’s a pet bed, I must admit, until I read the manual.
Those that designed the Blueair PetAir Pro took a contemporary pet-lounge concept, engineered it around a wide purifier, added a fabric resting pad on top, and called it a furniture piece. As a pet bed, the Blueair PetAir Pro is shorter than most common units at only 9.8 inches in height. It is comfortable for your pets, with 23 inches width and 15 inches depth.
It comes with a fabric resting pad attached, although you can remove this if you want to access the FurLock fur-collection tray beneath it and a simple touch panel that reveals the functions of the fan speed buttons and the filter status indicator.
Engineering of the unit is of the highest quality, although the fabric resting pad hides most of those efforts and it collects copious amounts of pet hair from any animal it accommodates. Talking about the bed, you can choose from quilt bed, scratch bed or dream bed (a plush bed which is very soft for your pets).
The air purifier will draw air from the bottom front inlet, and run through a very complex FurLock fur-collection tray, before releasing fresh air from both sides. The Blueair PetAir Pro uses adjustable vents, so you can keep the airflow for your pet’s best comfort.
As the second level of pet-awareness, Blueair provides a Pet Lock button on the control panel that needs to be engaged whenever the unit is in a pet-occupied space. Disable the Pet Lock carelessly, and the Blueair PetAir Pro could have its settings changed by whoever – or whatever – reaches the front panel first.
At 19 lbs, the Blueair PetAir Pro is a solid air purifier; however, I don’t recommend placing it high above the ground.

Blueair PetAir Pro Filters
We check the performance of one air purifiers based on its air filters’ quality and material, as well as the number of air filter types in the testing device. On its box, the Blueair PetAir Pro is advertised to have 5-stage filtration, but its is just a simple 3-stage air cleaning system like other Blueair air purifiers.
- Pre-filter – A simple pre-filter to catch large particles from the air. The Blueair PetAir Pro has a dedicated fur collection tray, but we don’t count it as a separate filter.
- True HEPA filter – The main filter is a H13 HEPA filter, that can capture 99.97% of all particles down to 0.3 microns.
- Activated carbon filter – A thin layer of carbon that traps odors.
It is pretty simple for the Blueair PetAir Pro, and we must remind you that our testing unit doesn’t have electrostatic charge like other Blueair air purifiers (HEPASilent technology). Actually, the core is still a H13 True HEPA filter, so the performance is guaranteed.
One more thing, if you buy the product as a standalone air purifier, you will be a little disappointed by its performance. As you can see, the capture rate of the Blueair PetAir Pro is just 96.26%, slightly behind the Blueair 2-in-1 Purify+Humidify DH3i and ComfortPure T20i. If you look for a better performer, the Airmega 250 and AeraMax SE are worth your money than the Blueair PetAir Pro.

Assumptions: smoke CADR used for all models; all eight models AHAM verified; 8 ft ceiling assumed; perfect room mixing assumed (real-world results will vary by room geometry and purifier placement).

There is one thing that the Blueair PetAir Pro did right: low maintenance cost. Its filter is only $89, and it has up to 1 year lifetime.

Blueair PetAir Pro Room Coverage
The Blueair PetAir Pro is tested by AHAM, which is a surprise because its use is so niche that we didn’t expect Blueair to pay for its verification. It is only recommended for rooms up to 271 square feet, in that regard.
The ACH of the Blueair PetAir Pro is 5X. As an AHAM-verified air purifier, the device can exchange air 5 times per hour in suggested room size.
The CADR of the Blueair PetAir Pro is 176 Dust/ 175 Smoke/ 187 Pollen (cfm). As you can see, such performance is nearly the same as a $150 Blue Pure 511i Max.

Blueair PetAir Pro Sound
There is one thing the Blueair PetAir Pro does exceptionally well: it is so quiet that your pet won’t be scared of its noise. Indeed, Pet mode simply activates the lowest fan speed, keeping the noise level as low as 29 decibels (dB). It’s not the lowest noise level among Blueair purifiers, but it’s like a whisper and still maintains enough fan power to be effective.
At the highest fan speed, the Blueair PetAir Pro reaches 58 decibels. In fact, the unit needs strong fan power, but it is hindered by the complex FurLock tray, which reduces real-world performance.

Blueair PetAir Pro Power Consumption
One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” An air purifier is meant to run for a long time to be efficient, that’s why many air purifier brands consider the energy-saving standard, mostly in the rate of Energy Star, is one important selling point.
The Blueair PetAir Pro is a good air purifier with a power consumption of 36 watts. We find it to be a decent performer per watt.
If you run the Blueair PetAir Pro for 8 hours per day, you need to spend $15 annually.

Blueair PetAir Pro Additional Features
The Blueair PetAir Pro equips the most advanced Smart Sensor, to accurately track PM & VOC air quality readings. It enables an Auto mode to adjust the fan power accordingly to the air quality. This is a better Smart Sensor than other Blueair air purifiers at the same price.
Moreover, the device introduces an exclusive Pet mode to automatically detect your pet and switch to the lowest fan speed. This setting overrides the standard Auto mode, mainly to keep noise as low as possible so it doesn’t scare your pet.
You can remotely control the Blueair PetAir Pro via Wi-Fi. From this, you can turn on the Night mode, check filter life or enable Pet lock.

Blueair PetAir Pro Customer Service
As one of the best air purifier brands, Blueair focuses strongly on customer service. With a lot of local stores and dedicated support via phone and email, you are guaranteed to reach its customer service as soon as possible.
If you need to find a local store of Blueair anywhere in the world, you can use the store locator function on its website. To reach customer service, you can choose between calling 888-258-3247 or emailing info@blueair.com. Customer service is available for you from Monday to Friday, with the exception of U.S. holidays.
Remember only one thing: you need to complete the Product Registration form within 60 days of purchase or register through the Blueair Friend mobile app to secure the 5-year warranty. Otherwise, you only benefit from a 1-year warranty. Moreover, do not attempt to bring the air purifier outside of the United States or Canada, or your warranty will be void immediately. All Blueair warranties are non-transferable.
Blueair air purifiers from the Blue family have only a 2-year warranty from the date of purchase (with valid proof of purchase). One quick reminder: Blueair doesn’t cover warranties from third-party sellers, so buying from Breathe Quality’s deals is highly recommended.

Our verdict
The Blueair PetAir Pro currently doesn’t have much competition, and although it is quite niche, its performance is average. One thing we want to warn you, it doesn’t fully eliminate pet fur, because it is just an air purifier. So don’t expect the miracle.
