The Levoit Sprout has a good-looking form, a relatively slender body, and a feature set that’s clean and easy to use. Its CADR and filtration won’t impress large-room buyers, but they’re both fine for bedroom and nursery use. What more could you ask for? Let’s find out in our Levoit Sprout review.

Levoit occasionally steps outside its comfort zone, and the Levoit Sprout is a good example of that. Designed specifically for bedroom use, this air purifier doesn’t try to compete on raw performance, an area where Levoit typically excels. Instead, it focuses on delivering the essentials of a tabletop air purifier while doubling as an alarm clock. Let’s take a closer look in our Levoit Sprout review.
Other Levoit’s Air Purifier Reviews:
Levoit Sprout Price
According to market data, Levoit’s bedroom-focused air purifiers generally sell better than their large-room counterparts. Models like the Levoit LV-H132 remain available even today, while the Levoit Core 300, which we proudly called the best air purifier before many others did, continues to be one of Amazon’s best-selling air purifiers.
For those not versed in the Levoit taxonomy, here’s a quick recap: ‘Sprout’ = sleep-focused, ‘B851’ denotes the chassis (it sits below the Core and Vital families in coverage scope), and the ‘S’ suffix indicates smart Wi-Fi capability. That’s all to say the Levoit Sprout is the brand’s most comfort-forward bedroom purifier, succeeding Levoit’s more utilitarian Levoit Core 200S in the sleep segment.
The Levoit Sprout (LAP-B851S-WNA) is available now at Amazon and directly from Levoit’s website. It launched in late 2024 and remains Levoit’s primary sleep-positioned purifier in the sub-$300 category, at $279 to be exact.
However, Levoit realizes that it’s too much to ask for a bedroom air purifier, because people can buy the whole Levoit Core 600S at this price point. At the moment, the Levoit Sprout stays firmly at $189, and we can believe this is the final price of this new Levoit experiment.
It is still as expensive as the Winix T830, Blue Pure 311i Max and Coway Airmega 200M. Even though the Levoit Sprout is compact and works with Alexa, it is still a bedroom-focused air purifier with a relatively low CADR. As a result, it is less capable of handling larger spaces than many of its competitors. It is just like the Blueair Mini Restful, and the latter is cheaper.
At its price point, Levoit also offers the Levoit Vital Pet Pro and the Levoit Core 400S.

Levoit Sprout Design and Size
To some degree, the Levoit Sprout has inherited a trait from Levoit’s compact size. The unit’s design philosophy has seen it trim down to a clean 8.7-inch footprint, which is as small as the Levoit Core 200S. This doesn’t result in a massive overhaul of the average air purifier’s table presence – not with the 14-inch height still noticeable on a nightstand – but it’s a nice touch that makes the device look a little more intentional.
There’s clearly also been some thought given to weight, with the Levoit Sprout tipping the scales at 6.4 lb; again, this is a spec that keeps it portable between rooms without effort.
The most distinctive aspect of the Levoit Sprout’s design is its slender body, a design language that feels unmistakably Levoit while still standing apart from other brands. Levoit has kept the Sprout’s color palette deliberately simple throughout its production run, and that approach continues here. The only available color is white, which makes sense for a new product, as Levoit has traditionally favored white finishes across most of its lineup.
Like most Levoit air purifiers, the Levoit Sprout uses the familiar bottom-to-top airflow design with 360° air intake. One thing you’ll immediately notice, however, is its larger sensor array. The Levoit Sprout packs in multiple sensors, including dual laser sensors for airborne particles, along with humidity and temperature sensors. Levoit has clearly equipped this device with some of its most advanced sensing technology.
The top control panel relies entirely on icons, which is acceptable since most users will likely control the unit through their smartphone anyway. Still, we wouldn’t call it the most intuitive control panel we’ve seen on an air purifier, but it gets the job done.

Levoit Sprout Filters
The most important factor in determining an air purifier’s performance is its filtration system. We typically evaluate how many filters it uses and what air filter types are included. The Levoit Sprout keeps it simple with its 3-in-1 air filtration system.
- Pre-filter – This nylon pre-filter is able to capture large particles such as dust, lint, fibers, hair, and pet fur. You need to vacuum this filter regularly because it is only effective for a short time.
- True HEPA filter – An enhanced H13 True HEPA filter with statically charged fibers to trap at least 99.97% of 0.3-micron airborne particles, such as fine dust, smoke particles, pollen, and pet dander.
- Activated Carbon filter – A layer of carbon filter, to trap household odors.
To keep the unit compact, the Levoit Sprout follows the same approach as the Levoit Core 300, using a 3-in-1 filter design that combines multiple filtration layers into a single filter cartridge. It is easy to maintain and replace, while keeping the high efficiency against most common airborne particles.
However, the Levoit Sprout’s performance is limited by its relatively low fan power. In a less demanding test designed to reflect its price category, the Levoit Sprout captured only 95.87% of particles down to 0.3 microns. That’s a noticeable step down from the performance levels we typically see from Levoit’s top-performing air purifiers.

Assumptions: smoke CADR used for all models; all four models AHAM verified with True HEPA filtration; 8 ft ceiling assumed; perfect room mixing assumed.

The Levoit Sprout uses a new filter (LRF-B851 model), which has a convenient handle so you can easily replace the filter, after 6-8 months. It is a nice addition, and we believe other air purifier brands should learn from Levoit. The filter cost is similar to other Levoit air purifiers at this price point, at $39.

Levoit Sprout Room Coverage
The Levoit Sprout is another Levoit air purifier being verified by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM), which recommends using this air purifier in rooms up to 132 square feet.
The ACH of the Levoit Sprout is 5X. In the suggested room size, the air purifier can clean your room up to 5 times per hour.
The CADR of the Levoit Sprout is 90 Dust/ 85 Smoke/ 109 Pollen (cfm). It is even weaker than the Levoit Vital 100 that costs nearly half its price.
The perks return, but so do the pitfalls. The Levoit Sprout’s 85 CFM is simply no good for large rooms, and I’d recommend pairing it with a second unit if your open-plan space extends beyond a bedroom.

Levoit Sprout Sound
Levoit’s bedroom-focused purifiers should have won awards for their industry-leading silence, especially with the Levoit Sprout, because it has such low fan speed. The air purifier operates at a minimum of 22 dB on its lowest fan speed, and you can think of the device as quiet as a whisper.
Real-world noise performance at maximum speed reached levels that were perceptible in a quiet room. That’s a step above library-quiet operation, but less disruptive than most full-size air purifiers, at around 50 decibels.

Levoit Sprout Power Consumption
A good air purifier is designed to run for a long time to be more efficient, making the high-priority question in Breathe Quality: “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” To know the answer, we will need to check the power consumption of this air purifier.
The Levoit Sprout is an Energy Star air purifier, just like its Core brothers, with an amazing rated power at only 18 watts. Its performance per watt is super good, perhaps one of the highest air purifiers among Levoit family.
If you run the Levoit Sprout at least for 8 hours per day, it would cost you $7.9 annually.

Levoit Sprout Additional Features
Out of the box, the Levoit Sprout connects to the VeSync ecosystem, Levoit’s current-generation platform at the time of its release, with the brand pledging continued app support through its standard two-year warranty period.
That level of connectivity is expected given the Levoit Sprout’s premium price tag, as it allows you to fully control the air purifier through the smartphone app. But let’s be honest, the main reason to buy the Levoit Sprout is its alarm clock functionality, right? For that, you’ll need the VeSync app, which lets you build detailed sleep routines and offers far more depth than a typical alarm clock app.
Moreover, you can tap the top of the Levoit Sprout to activate the snooze function. The only issue is that the unit is fairly tall, and I don’t think reaching up to tap the top provides the best user experience. Perhaps Levoit could improve this by allowing users to snooze the alarm directly from the smartphone app.
The Levoit Sprout has all of its top-tier laser air sensors: from the dual air sensor to cover every ultrafine airborne particles, to the humidity and temperature sensors. These are truly the most advanced sensors for an air purifier.
Finally, the Levoit Sprout includes all the basic features you’d expect: a nightlight, child lock, Sleep mode, and a filter replacement indicator. It also comes with a built-in speaker, which is essential for its alarm clock functionality, and can play white noise to help you fall asleep more easily.

With the Levoit Sprout, Levoit has stripped away the complexity of large-room air purifiers to create a clean, easy-to-use experience tailored for bedrooms and nurseries. You certainly won’t get the strongest performance, but the Levoit Sprout still stands out as the best air purifier for bedroom, thanks to its thoughtful design and bedroom-focused features.
