After the update of the Levoit LV-PUR131S with Wi-Fi Smart Control, and the two greatest budget contenders Levoit Core 300 and Levoit Vista 200, it is safe to say Levoit has dominated the low-range game. Then the honest question would be: What is the mission of this new Levoit Vital 100?

Perhaps Levoit wants to revive the console air purifier design concept, with the Levoit Vital 100 serving as the key component for those who cannot afford the Smart LV-PUR131. This air purifier adopts a similar philosophy, with an even more wallet-friendly price tag.

This isn’t new approach from Levoit, it has been long successful with the Levoit LV-H126, as a cheap version of the best seller Levoit LV-H132. Now it sets the price of our today Levoit Vital 100 to be $119, which is $60 lower than the official price of the LV-PUR131. It’s not much of a spoiler to say that the Levoit Vital 100 only keeps the same performance as the Levoit Core 300, and with a starting price tag that’s 20% higher than its predecessors, does the Levoit Vital 100 hit the same value sweet spot?

At this price, we can count the Pure Enrichment PureZone, Honeywell HPA100 and Filtrete FAP-C02WA-G2 as the direct competitors of this Levoit Vital 100. Each device has its own pros and cons, so make sure to check the reviews of them all.

The Levoit Vital 200S is out, with a newer design and improved performance, and it is an air purifier intended for the $150-budget competition. With the huge success of the Vital 200S, the Levoit Vital 100S is more similar to the bigger air purifier, than our today Vital 100.

Levoit Vital 100 Design and Size

The Levoit Vital 100 is designed to be bigger, just like its console predecessor. It has the basic look, feel, and features of a modern console air purifier in a package that is easy on the wallet.

To that end, you get a large, no-base housing, which is clearly inspired by the PureZone of Pure Enrichment. It is still compact with only 16 inches in height, and it is a bit shorter than the Levoit LV-PUR131.

Most prominently of all, you get a brand new, bigger top air outlet than any other performer in the same price range. With large parallel air grills, the device is sleek, and it can reduce the overall size of the device.

The Levoit Vital 100 still runs on the core bottom-to-top airflow system concept, and the air inlet is hidden behind the filter cover. If you want to replace the air filters, make sure to place the filter back into the Levoit Vital 100 with the pull tabs facing out.

For the top control panel, we get only five basic functional buttons. The control panel is placed right on the edge, which makes it comfortable to bend down and press at the same time.

The Levoit Vital 100 only weighs 9.3 lbs, and you can easily lift and move it around your home.

Levoit Vital 100 Filters

The Levoit Vital 100 will come back with the original idea of installing air filters, which means the more air filters, the better. But if you look more closely at the air purifier, you’ll see that it has the same 3-stage system for cleaning the air as other Levoit air purifiers.

1. Pre-filter – This fine preliminary filter is able to capture large particles such as dust, lint, fibers, hair, and pet fur.
2. True HEPA filter – The Levoit Vital 100 uses a True HEPA Filter to reduce 99.97% of as small as 0.3 microns allergens like mites and pet dander, virus particles, mold spores, pollen, germs and bacteria particles.
3. Activated Carbon filter – This Activated Carbon filter adsorb unwanted odors and fume such as cooking smells, smoke, ammonia and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).

A 3-stage air cleaning system is the most popular system in any ozone-free air purifier. The air filter of the Levoit Vital 100 may be smaller than the Levoit LV-PUR131, but it packs the same quality as the more expensive brother.

Levoit does attempt to make an air purifier with at least the same power as the old Levoit LV-PUR131, and I’m happy to use the Levoit Vital 100 in a room of up to 300 square feet.

The ACH of the Levoit Vital 100 is 5X.

The CADR of the Levoit Vital 100 is 114 Dust/ 105 Smoke/ 123 Pollen (cfm). It is capable of dealing with such suggested room size of the manufacturer, though it is a little bit lower than the CADR rating of the Levoit Core 300.

Levoit Vital 100 Sound

The big feature of the Levoit Vital 100, and the key differentiating factor between the whole Levoit family and other air purifier brands on the market like Honeywell or GermGuardian, is the truly quiet operation.

The Levoit Vital 100’s lowest noise level, by default, is only 23 decibels (dB). It is just the same as the noise level of a whisper, and you won’t notice any sound from the device.

Even on the highest setting, the Levoit Vital 100 runs at only 50 decibels, which is quieter than most air purifiers on the market.

Levoit Vital 100 Power Consumption

An air purifier is designed to run for a long time to be more efficient, making the high-priority question in Breathe Quality: “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” To know the answer, we will need to check the power consumption of this air purifier.

The Levoit Vital 100 needs more power to operate its bigger fan, and the power consumption is measured at 55 watts, with standby power of less than 0.8 watts.

Levoit Vital 100 Additional Features

As the budget version of the console Levoit LV-PUR131, the Levoit Vital 100 doesn’t pack much additional features as the previous model. So, this air purifier will not have the high-end Smart Sensor feature.

As a bedroom air purifier, the Levoit Vital 100 uses a dimmer setting to turn the display off manually. You will also receive a basic timer that can be set to turn off after 2, 4, or 8 hours.

Finally, the Levoit Vital 100 still has a LED indicator for filter replacement. It is a fundamental feature for the air purifier, which is really nice to have.

Levoit Vital 100 Customer Service

Levoit is a brand that strongly focuses on its customers and community. If you buy one of its products, you will receive everything you need to set it up and run it. Negative customer service reviews are almost nonexistent.

There is only one thing: it gives a basic 1-year warranty. To get an additional 1-year warranty, you need to have some free registration. It is easy, and everyone is willing to sign up for another year of warranty. It seems newer products are getting a 2-year warranty by default.

Our verdict

The Levoit Vital 100 is not as clear a winner immediately as the previous Levoit Core 300, as it only serves a small base of customers who want a console air purifier. It has good value for the money, with high fan power, a high-quality air filtration system, and enough additional features to use. However, it is more expensive than the Core 300, which keeps us from buying it directly.
