Other Oransi’s Air Purifier Reviews:
Oransi Erik 650A Price
Oransi Erik 650A is not a new, but it is the almost-everything-included Oransi air purifier that you really want, if you can afford it. This air purifier is bigger, heavier and a lot more powerful than any devices you have known.
The MERV-18 True HEPA filter (certified True HEPA filter only rated MERV-17) is the first and the best reason to choose the Oransi Erik 650A. And the fan power and the Activated Carbon filter is the second and the third reasons. Oransi Erik 650A has an edge in dealing with smoke and odors over any other Oransi devices we’ve tested so far.
As an air purifier in high-range segment, just like the Austin Air or Airpura, Oransi Erik 650A doesn’t need a fancy feature. An air purifier is born with only one mission, to completely clean the air. But the price… The Oransi Erik 650A is $1595, which is nearly double the price of the portable Oransi EJ120. Such high price is truly unimaginable, and if you are looking for one device in Amazon, sometimes the final price is even higher. It can reach the level of Blueair Pro XL, actually.
But even the official price, it is incomparable by even the high-end flagships of the most well-known air purifier leaders. The IQAir GC MultiGas, which is also highly effective against gases and chemicals, is no where near the starting cost of Oransi Erik 650A. Out of this most proper challenger, others like the Austin Air Bedroom Machine, Austin Air HealthMate Plus or even Airpura P600 is just more affordable options.
So tell me, why you are here? Are you curious about the power of this flagship of Oransi? Let’s find out!

Oransi Erik 650A Design and Size
The Oransi Erik 650A doesn’t push air purifier design in a revolutionary new direction like the Blueair Classic 605, or the IQAir HealthPro Plus. In fact, it is quite similar to the Blueair Pro M, of course, just in terms of design concept, but it does see some satisfying change over the mid-range one of Blueair. The height is a lot higher, with 25.5 inches instead of 17-inches height in Blueair Pro M. Together with the 26-inch width, our Oransi Erik 650A will give a feeling of a portable air purifier.
The body is a full metal one, with sharp cut and solid built, Oransi Erik 650A is simple but strong. Both the back and front are plain white, and the only thing you can find here is the outlet air grills under the near bottom of this air purifier. Yes, there is no mistake. Oransi Erik 650A is using an inverted air cleaning system, which is a top-to-bottom air flow concept. Such inverted air flow concept is truly the unique feature of Oransi Erik 650A, and I think it will match the shape of this air purifier. So just a quick remind, the top air vent is the intake one, not the outlet one. Don’t try to breathe the air on top of this air purifier, okay?
From both sides of the Oransi Erik 650A, there are handles to help you move the air purifier much easier. But don’t try to do that, this Oransi Erik 650A is 75 lbs, which is even heavier than the Blueair Pro XL. Luckily, we have an additional of 4 casters to help push the machine around your home.
Finally, we have a simple switch (or knob) as the only mean of control for this Oransi Erik 650A. It is located in the bottom side of the machine, and you will wish that they put it on top. It seems the company has a terrible sense of user experience, which was discussed previously in the Oransi Max.

Right beside the control panel, Oransi Erik 650A has a durable and long cord to connect with the electric supply. However, when you don’t use the air purifier, you should unplug it immediately.

Oransi Erik 650A Filters
If you are familiar with the Oransi brand, you will know that their air filtration process is the top selling point. All air filters are made with high quality, to be used exactly in the hospitals and labs. Aside from the unmatched quality, the Oransi Erik 650A is using an only 2-stage air cleaning system.
- Pre-filter – This is the MERV-15 pre-filter, which is able to deal with 95% of any airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns. Moreover, it combines with an Activated Carbon filter to remove gases, smoke and many kinds of chemicals.
- True HEPA filter – The main True HEPA filter is MERV-18, which is the best filter from this company. It is able to capture 99.97% of any allergens as small as 0.3 microns like dust, dust mites, pet dander, mold spores, pollen and even the bacteria and viruses.
Well, even the pre-filter of this powerful machine is rated MERV-15, which is even better than most of the HEPA-like air filters in the market. With only the pre-filtration, Oransi Erik 650A is capable of dealing with small to large particulates easily. However, you need to change the pre-filter annually for the maximum performance.
The 4-inch deep GAC Activated Carbon filter is also more formidable than the normal thin layer charcoal filter of low-end devices. With 3.5 lbs of proprietary gas filter media, the Oransi Erik 650A is able to deal with gases from smoke and gas leaks, including of methane gas, sulfur gases, and many others. Though it is not as good as the Airpura T600, Airpura V600, AllerAir 5000, AllerAir 6000 or Austin Air HealthMate Plus, the Oransi Erik 650A is effective for a wide range of gases and odors.
This air purifier removes the ionizer without mercy. It is widely believed that the ionizer is the most reason causing high ozone emission, which irritates asthma and other respiratory issues. To guarantee that the Oransi Erik 650A is not using any ionic features, Oransi made the machine empty inside. There will be no place for an ionizer.
Saving the best part for the last, here is our True HEPA filter of Oransi Erik 650A. The main filter is rated MERV-18, which is even higher level than the common True HEPA filters (MERV-16 or MERV-17). This True HEPA filter is 12 inches in depth, with 4 to 39 more filter media to last longer and quieter.
And now, the most difficult part, the performance test. The Oransi Erik 650A is a very expensive air purifier, and there is no way we can have all the high-end machines to compare with it at the same time. Luckily, this time I was able to put both the Oransi Erik 650A and IQAir GC MultiGas into a test. Moreover, you can read the previous results of Winix T1, Airpura P600 and Blueair Pro XL to review the performance of our today unit.
My testing conditions: All air purifiers are under 1000 square feet, and running in 1 hour.
Honestly, it is not hard to guess the result. Apart from the Blueair Pro XL, all air purifiers were able to trap all airborne pollutant particles as small as 0.3 microns with a high efficiency of 99.97 – 99.98%. The only outstanding device is the Blueair Pro XL, with the efficiency of 99.99%.

With a great pre-filter and good structure, the True HEPA filter of Oransi Erik 650A can last as long as 3 years. The cost is not cheap, however, with $139 for the pre-filter and $259 for the True HEPA filter. However, compared with the Blueair Pro XL, you need to pay $180 for every 6 months. I bet that is the level of the above $1000 air purifiers.

Oransi Erik 650A Room Coverage
The Oransi Erik 650A continues the tradition of this brand to suggest a giant room size for a very, very low CADR rating in return. Oransi Erik 650A can cover a room of 1700 square feet, but is it truly great?
The ACH of Oransi Erik 650A is 5X. The flagship of Oransi can clean a room once every 12 minutes.
The CADR of Oransi Erik 650A is 381 Dust/ 372 Smoke/ 385 Pollen (cfm). It is better than the Austin Air HealthMate Plus, but for a room size of 1700 square feet, I believe it is quite insufficient. However, the CADR rating only tells how fast the air purifier will clean your room, so even though the Oransi Erik 650A can only slowly clean a large room, you just need to wait a bit more.
Moreover, the fan power is still below the trio of Dyson Pure Cool Link, Dyson Pure Hot+Cool and Dyson Pure Cool Tower, because the Dyson air purifiers are designed to be the cooling fan as well. The Dyson air purifiers are also more affordable than the Oransi Erik 650A, but they don’t have as good air filters as our today unit.

Oransi Erik 650A Sound
When there is more fan power, the one you need to worry should be the noise level of this air purifier. You can’t deny the fact that Oransi Erik 650A has inside a very powerful fan, and the noise level is higher than the small devices is inevitable.
To reduce the sound, Oransi makes use of the EC (Electrically Commutated) motors to rotate at a speed lower than synchronous speed. In short, the Oransi Erik 650A starts louder and slower, but decrease the noise level as the rotor and field come into sync.
However, whatever the actual technology in this machine, the Oransi Erik 650A still runs with a noise level of 70 decibels (db). This is the lowest level of what we called “the noise”, and that’s why you can’t run this air purifier in the quiet places, for example your offices.

Oransi Erik 650A Power Consumption
The power consumption is, again, another disadvantage for the devices with high fan power. Better fan needs more energy to operate, and you can’t expect a high-end air purifier for large rooms with a low power consumption.
That being said, keeping the power consumption of this Oransi Erik 650A at 170 watts is an excellent task of this company. Well, with more fan power, the Blueair Pro XL even uses 256 watts. Still, this is an Energy Star air purifier, though the CADR/watt rate is quite low for the high-range segment.
For using the Oransi Erik 650A 8 hours per day, you need to pay $61 each year. In other words, you need to pay about $0.2 each day to have a better indoor air quality.

Oransi Erik 650A Additional Features
As I stated clearly in the Price part of the Oransi Erik 650A, this machine is equal with all of the devices from Austin Air and Airpura. They all have fantastic fan power and high-quality, and even medical-grade air filtration process, but without any additional features. You need to control the air purifier all by yourself.
So to say, we don’t have the Smart Sensor. Other unimportant features like Timer or remote control are excluded as well. If you need the Smart Sensor (which is a very necessary feature to automatically operate your air purifier to match the current indoor air quality), you should check the Winix T1, Blueair Pro XL or IQAir GC MultiGas.
The only thing you can have with this Oransi Erik 650A is the electronic LED indicator for filter replacement. I feel like if it doesn’t have anything at all, it is much better.
So far, I can only recommend you to downgrade to the Oransi EJ120 for such Smart features.
Oransi Erik 650A Customer Service
Oransi is a brand that being used by the leading companies, medical centers and universities like the American Red Cross or Menlo Medical Clinic. They maintain a very healthy and active community, and that’s being a part of their AirLift program. For the shipping policy, Oransi offers a Free Shipping on all products, delivered from Nevada or Pennsylvania warehouse. They assure that there is a 30-day refund for any air purifiers, and you only need to submit a request to receive feedback from their customer service within 24 hours.
Moreover, Oransi will cover you with a 10-year warranty, which is one of the best after sale policies for an air purifier. Normally, an air purifier is only covered by 1-year or 2-year warranty, so Oransi is really confident for their air purifier’s quality.
You can either contact them via phone at 888-281-3948, or via email through their “Contact Us” page. The support will be available Monday to Friday, from 9 to 6 pm.
The best conclusion I can have is this Oransi Erik 650A is an undeniable powerful air purifier, one thing that can clean a large room with ease. But for the price, if you can afford that far, you should use the Blueair Pro XL for a better Smart Sensor.
- Cleaning Power
- Power Consumption
A total overkill for anyone, especially with the high price of Amazon.
