First off, the Oransi mod is a whole different air purifier from the Oransi lineup, and it has some fantastic innovations above the current mid-range candidate Oransi Max, but its high price once again makes it hard to recommend compared to some contemporaries.

If it wasn’t for its super-high price, the Oransi mod would be incredibly easy recommended thanks to its premium and smart design, highly advanced HEPA filter and powerful performance in a portable shape. However, with this air purifier nearly touches the high-range segment, we’d only recommend it for professionals and those with large budgets.

Yes, the Oransi mod is an Amazon’s Choice air purifier, as it is released right in the center of COVID-19 pandemic last year. After 6 months of testing this device, I believe it is a serious successor of the winning Oransi EJ120 – our top recommendation for high-range air purifiers. For those who’re really interested in Oransi products, the Oransi mod perfectly fits their high-end purposes, cleaning much better than the big bad EJ120.

Are you ready for the price? The Oransi mod asks you for no less than $599, and though you can get it with fairly low monthly payment from our deal, plus an extended warranty, it is still a very high-end air purifier that I find hard to recommend.

At nearly the same performance, the AIRMEGA 300 can be found for less. The Rabbit Air MinusA2 and Sharp FX-J80UW keep the same feat with this Oransi mod with a lot of amazing features. Dyson Pure Hot+Cool and Dyson Pure Cool Tower are also the candidate of mid-range segment, with unique interesting cooling and heating functions, that will be more or less the reason to buy them over our today Oransi mod. Perhaps, the natural competitors of this air purifier are the Austin Air HealthMate Plus, Aprilaire Allergy+Pet9550, Medify MA-112 and Airdoctor.

With a lot of competitions in the mid-range, and their performance can come neck-to-neck, how does the Oransi mod get an advantage? This is for you to decide.

Oransi mod Design and Size

Our Oransi mod review was a hard article to write, and yes we took much longer to justify this air purifier that you can find a ton of other reviews online (sorry our dear and loyal readers). Yes, because the air purifier is two things. It’s a super-impressive piece of new design and best alternative for the Oransi Max in the lineup, but as a consumer device, that you might be considering buying, and its origin of China instead of the U.S like previous models make the high price no sense.

So I think I need to confirm one thing: the Oransi mod is completely solid, high-quality at its build. Yes, you may notice it is nowhere near its full metal brother Oransi EJ120, but it’s good with its smooth, low-profile exterior. The air purifier has a cylindrical shape, which is common for a portable design.

One thing to remember, the Oransi mod is solid at 25 inches in height and 14 inches in diameter. It has a high base to succumb dirty air much better, reducing the gathered dust at the base. From there, the Oransi mod runs a traditional bottom-to-top air flow system concept, releasing fresh air on top air outlet grills.

This may be a divisive comment, but we find the Oransi mod and its smaller brother, Oransi mod Jr, far more attractive than the Oransi OV200, Finn and Max. Both of them set a new high bar for good-looking air purifiers, something that Oransi needs to notice when developing new devices.

Look at the new glass control panel on top of the Oransi mod, I agree that it is premium and simple to operate (look at you Medify Air). There is a carry handle to help you lift this 23-lbs air purifier anywhere, and a handle filter to keep it out of dirty. I know, that’s great, right?

Oransi mod Filters

As with most of its today high-end air purifiers, the Oransi mod has a simple yet effective 3-stage air cleaning system, consisting of only mechanical air filters to not emit ozone. Oransi mod, however, features the top-of-the-line True HEPA filter that is able to capture nano-sized particles. Let’s take a look at this all-in-one air filter.

1. Pre-filter – The air must first bypass the pre-filter, where it removes the largest airborne particles like dust and debris so that they don’t clog the filter or impede airflow. It can be vacuumed or wiped with a cloth to clean.
2. True HEPA filter – One of the best True HEPA filters (MERV-17), which can capture 99.97% of any airborne pollutant particles that pass through the system like pet dander, pet hair, mold spores, dust mites, pollen, allergens and other solid particles as small as 0.3 microns. It is said to eliminate 99.4% of particles at 0.02 microns.
3. Activated Carbon filter – A stand-alone carbon filter which can remove light odors, light smoke and smells.

It’s no longer the simple MERV-16 air filter from the old Oransi Max, the Oransi mod plays the next-level MERV-17 air filter that you can only get from the Oransi EJ120 or Oransi Erik 650A. This upgrade in air filter takes the Oransi mod into a higher position in trapping airborne particles. Oransi is confident to capture 99.4 to 99.7% of particles down to 0.01 microns. I must say this is nano-sized particle.

Inherits from the EJ120, the Oransi mod brings down some of the good Carbon filter. However, the carbon filter has smaller layer than other contenders in the same bracket, which makes sense for a portable air purifier like Oransi mod. It is still useful, and is reported to adsorb 88% of formaldehyde after 2 hours of running.

Such performance isn’t a bluff. Consistent tests made in the last 6 months shows that the Oransi mod is amazing for the room of 400 square feet. Let’s check on the below chart, where Oransi mod positioned firmly above top dogs like Rabbit Air MinusA2, Airdoctor or Alen BreatheSmart, at 99.95% of capturing particles down to 0.3 microns in just 1 hour. It is only bested by the Austin Air HealthMate Plus and the candidate of best air purifiers list, the Blueair HealthProtect 7470i.

But the all-in-one air filter will easily and quickly tackle dust and debris. to the point that you need to replace the air filter of Oransi mod 6-12 months later. The filter is quite expensive at mid-range segment, about $75 for one set.

Oransi mod Room Coverage

Oransi has its own custom marketing gimmick to show the largest room coverage possible, which is 1250 square feet in the case of the Oransi mod. It is, however, tested by the AHAM (Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers) to be even better than the Oransi EJ120 in terms of fan power, verified at 523 square feet. It isn’t a surprise for us, considered this Oransi mod matches the same performance in our long test.

The ACH of Oransi mod is 1X to 5X. 1250 square feet is possible when the air purifier cycles only one time per hour, resulting in less efficiency at trapping airborne particles.

The CADR of Oransi mod is 337 Dust/ 338 Smoke/ 412 Pollen (cfm). In short, such fan power doubles the previous Oransi Max, and I must say from its loudness to be even more powerful than the EJ120. Of course, Oransi mod uses a different inverter EC fan motor, so it can give us such imagination.

Oransi mod Sound

Like I said in the previous section, the Oransi mod is truly loud on highest speed. It doesn’t run as noisy as your common cooling fan on lowest speed, capping at 20 decibels (db). This is the level of rustling leaves’ noise, and you basically won’t hear the sound.

However, on its highest speed, the Oransi mod is a beast. It runs at 60 decibels, and it is really noisier than even the Oransi EJ120. Though both CADR rating of these air purifiers are nearly the same, I feel like the Oransi mod is stronger. It really blows the air out of the air grill, and you can feel the cool from this air purifier during hot summer days.

Oransi mod Power Consumption

One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” In fact, air purifier must be used for a long time to be efficient. And power consumption is one important criteria to review if this air purifier is good or not.

At its level of fan power, the Oransi mod truly needs the magic of its high-level EC fan motor, which uses up to 90% less power. The inverter power of this Oransi mod comes with a reasonable power consumption, at only 77 watts, less than the previous Oransi Max. This air purifier is also an Energy Star air purifier coming from the Oransi lineup, together with its little brother Oransi mod Jr.

To use this high-end air purifier at least 8 hours per day, you must pay $27.5 each year. Considered this air purifier the best of Oransi lineup now.

Oransi mod Additional Features

If there is one downside of the Oransi mod, I must say its lack of smart features for a quite high price. This is modern era, and I don’t think I can give spot of the best air purifiers list for any devices without some smart features. The Oransi mod perhaps shines in its performance, but it still needs at least the Smart Sensor to stay on the competitive market.

So it’s just like the bigger Oransi EJ120 and many high-end industrial air purifiers of the U.S, and if you want some fancy additional features, you need to check other brands. Something like the Molekule Air, Dyson HP04 or Rabbit Air MinusA2.

There is still left for you a LED indicator for filter replacement. It will flash red after 4500 hours of use.

Our verdict

Oransi mod steps up with its high-end brother, running a better MERV-17 True HEPA filter. Its carbon is good but not much for industrial or public use, so it can’t be compared with real deals like AllerAir, Austin Air or Airpura. However, the Oransi mod is a portable device, and it’s meant for personal use, and you don’t need to think twice when using it.

It is also the best air purifier in the whole Oransi line up, with the best performance per value. It is mainly for Oransi fans, but anyone who want to touch the higher range of air purifiers should take a look for it. The Oransi mod has a clean, premium design and together with its certified quality, it can be a serious purchase.
