The Airpura T600 is yet another air purifier of this brand to target a special need – for cigarette smoke and cigar odors. Together with the Airpura C600, this could be the most expensive air purifier without the commercial True HEPA filter. So why do you need to buy it? Let’s read our Airpura T600 Review to know the answer.
In Breathe Quality, we have reviewed all air purifiers under these sections. Also, we guarantee that:

- We do not (and never) exaggerate one product just to let you click the links and buy that product blindly.
- Variety of options for Activated Carbon filter
- Powerful air flow with high CADR
- Overall complete finish
- Quiet operation in lowest setting
- No Smart Features
- No True HEPA filter
- High power consumption
- Very high cost for filter replacement
The Airpura could be the closest rival to the largest air purifier manufacturer in the U.S – the Austin Air. However, with the vast improvements upon the Central Air System, Airpura is more and more well-known, especially in the schools, offices and industrial factories. With our Airpura T600 Review, you will know about the top recommended air purifier of this brand.
Other Airpura’s Air Purifier Reviews:
Airpura T600 Price
The high-range market of air purifier is very different from other appliances and devices. The air purifiers representing in this segment are extremely capable of dealing with the variety of small particles. In exchange for the pure performance, these well-known brands usually ignore the flashy features.
So to say, the Airpura T600 is expensive because of only one reason, it is highly effective in an extra large room. Bigger machine means better performance, and therefore, more expensive than the common device.
Just like its brother – the Airpura C600, Airpura T600 is specifically designed for one purpose – to clean the air of tars and chemicals from tobacco smoke. If you need the heavy protection against the tobacco smoke, you can choose the Airpura T600 DLX.
And the starting price is similar, too. The Airpura T600 costs you $849, and for the upgraded version Airpura T600 DLX, you need to pay for $50 more. For the price, you can purchase two others in Airpura family, the Airpura C600 and Airpura F600.
Again, I can only note the top formidable opponents for this Airpura T600 exactly like the Airpura C600. Yes, they are the IQAir HealthPro Plus, Blueair Pro L and Oransi EJ120. But because of the specific mission of this Airpura T600, you should also consider the alternative of the IQAir GC MultiGas.
As ever, we are happy to help you find a deal for this Airpura T600.

Airpura T600 Design and Size
I hate to repeat, but you won’t find any difference betweem the Airpura T600 and its brothers in the Airpura family. The only one thing to tell one from another is a tag name beside the knob.
But that’s how complete the housing of Airpura T600, and the whole family of Airpura, are. Using the powder coat steel, the Airpura T600 can prevent any off-gassing of chemical vapors, both within the clean air stream and in the unit’s end-of-life phase. Moreover, when you’ve done with it, the Airpura T600 is 93% recyclable.
There is one pressure seal on the filter chamber ensures that all of the dirty air passes through the filters. Other systems allow leakage and do not achieve the 99.97% HEPA filtration rating. Also, the felt gaskets will seal the filter chamber and maximize the filtration.
The Airpura T600, and its brother – Airpura T600 DLX, are 23 inches in height, and 15 inches in width. However, unlike the Airpura C600, you can not attach this air purifier into the Airpura Central Air System.
The code name of this air purifier, the “T” could either stands for “tars” or “tobacco smoke”. Again, as an air purifier that aims at using a thick Activated Carbon filter, the Airpura T600 was created with eco-awareness in mind. Therefore, the capacitors used in the Airpura T600 are free of polychlorinated biphenyls, or PCBs, which are toxic to humans, animals and the environment.
Again, the Airpura T600 has the same 360° Distribution air flow, which is the concept maximizing the air flow. You can only find the air flow system concept like this in high-range air purifiers, like IQAir HealthPro Plus or Austin Air Bedroom Machine.
The typical Airpura T600 and Airpura T600 DLX come with 3 colors: the Black, White and Beige (or Cream). This time, I’ve used a Black unit, but I feel the Black color of Airpura T600 isn’t as luxury as the Austin Air HealthMate Plus.
Again, you can buy the Airpura T600 DLX from the deal below.
Airpura T600 and Airpura T600 DLX both weigh 45 lbs, and I must thanks the installation of 4 casters, which helps me move this air purifier around my office.

Airpura T600 Filters
Now, we are reading one of the two most important factors when deciding the performance of one air purifier – its air filters. Basically, we will check the quantity of air filters and what air filter types it used first. Airpura T600 makes use of the signature 3-stage air cleaning system of this company.
- Pre-filter – To protect the main filter, Airpura T600 uses a TarBarrier pre-filter, which can trap large particles such as tars from tobacco and cigar. It can be vacuumed clean and should be changed every 1-3 months.
- Activated Carbon Filter – The main reason to buy the Airpura T600 is because of the Activated Carbon filter, which can absorb a variety of toxic chemicals, odors, and tobacco smoke from the air.
- HEPA filter – Airpura T600 only uses a HEPA-Barrier filter, which has 95% efficient at removing any particles as small as 1 micron in size.
The Airpura T600 is different with others in this big family by using the TarBarrier pre-filter. The TarBarrier is a solid poly pre-filter, with more lint to capture even the tiny tars that linger in the air. On account of this structure, the TarBarrier pre-filter is more dense against these large objects of pollutants. But the downside is it is quickly unusable, and must be replaced after up to 3 months. Under heavy usage, this filter should be changed monthly.
As the main protection against the most chemicals and odors found in tobacco smoke, the Airpura T600 used the same Activated Carbon filter like the Airpura C600 – the powerful 560-sq-ft filter with 26 lbs of Coconut shell Charcoal. This air filter can collect 4000 chemicals that make up the tobacco smoke. And with such huge amount of carbon inside it, the Airpura T600 can absorb the smoke from cigarette and cigar nearly immediately.
The Airpura T600 DLX, just like the Airpura C600 DLX, uses the enhanced carbon filter with 17% potassium iodide and 83% coconut shell (you still can upgrade to use the potassium permanganate instead to accelerate the binding of light gases) to improve the filtration against the chemicals in tobacco smoke.
The Airpura T600 and Airpura T600 DLX are meant for the heavy smokers, and even an Activated Carbon with 26 lbs in weight needs to be changed every 3 months, depending on the heavy usage.
However, this machine doesn’t have the True HEPA filter. Instead, the HEPA-Barrier can only remove 95% of any pollutant particles as small as 1 microns. Such performance is only rated MERV-15, while the True HEPA filter is rate MERV-16 or MERV-17.
To test the performance of this air purifier, I need to pump the smoke into a test chamber, and the smoke particles must be the same as the tobacco smoke. The Airpura T600 can absorb the smoke with double the speed than the IQAir GC MultiGas, and 12 times quicker than the Oransi EJ120.
Sadly, such performance come with an uneasy cost. The HEPA-Barrier filter of this Airpura T600 is only $59, but it can last 1 year. If you need to change the Activated carbon filter, you must pay from $279 to $349. Such high cost comes with a frequency of 3 to 4 months to change will kill your wallet quickly. Even the TarBarrier filter will cost you $99, and this pack can only last for 1 year at maximum.

Airpura T600 Room Coverage
From this criteria to the last will be the same for any purifiers in Airpura family. The Airpura T600 and Airpura T600 DLX can cover such large room as 2000 sq ft.
The ACH of Airpura T600 is 2X. For a room of 2000 sq ft, it will exchange the air every 30 minutes.
The CADR of Airpura T600 is 560 cfm in general. From my experience, the CADR rating of this air purifier is only below the Blueair Pro XL, or the IQAir HealthPro Plus at its best condition. With such fan power, Airpura T600 can clean your room very fast.

Airpura T600 Sound
We are having another quiet Airpura air purifier, as the Airpura T600 has a noise level of only 28 db on lowest speed. Such noise level is exactly like the noise level of the whisper.
And if you switch to the highest setting, the fan power is only 62 db – the same noise level of conversation at office or restaurant, and I know that you won’t be annoyed by the sound of Airpura T600.
Because the air purifier is designed mainly for tobacco smoke and odors, it is not only suitable for the home with smokers, but also the public places like restaurants, bars, hospitals, waiting rooms or other smoking areas.

Airpura T600 Power Consumption
In Breathe Quality, one of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?”. In fact, an air purifier needs to run for a long time (usually more than 8 hours) to be efficient, and therefore, power consumption is an important criteria to decide which air purifier to buy.
As an air purifier with powerful fan, the Airpura T600 can’t hold the power consumption as low as the device with only half the CADR rating. Therefore, you should be happy with the range of power consumption from 40W to 120W. It is quite higher than IQAir GC MultiGas or Oransi EJ120, but as you can see, the performance is better.
To run the Airpura T600 8 hours per day, you need to pay from $15 to $43 annually. Even if you always run the air purifier on highest speed, it would cost you only $0.1 each day.

Airpura T600 Additional Features
Both the Airpura and Austin Air families are saying no to any kinds of additional features. It seems that the high-end air purifiers are mostly for air purification, not for some flashy features to show off. You shouldn’t be surprise if your Airpura T600 doesn’t have any additional features, just like the Blueair Pro L and Oransi EJ120.
There won’t be even the filter replacement indicator or the Timer. There is only one manual switch to change the fan speed of this machine.
If you like to add the Smart Sensor, a great feature to automatically adjust the fan power to suit the current indoor air quality, you need to buy the IQAir HealthPro Plus. Or with only $749, you can choose between the AIRMEGA 400S and the Alen BreatheSmart 75i.
Airpura T600 Customer Service
The Airpura Industries is a strong brand in Canada, and they are active in customer service field. Anyone who demands an air purifier from this brand can take dedicated suggestion about which device to buy, also with a reasonable installation of Central Air System (the latter is only available in local).
You can contact them freely via phone at 866-505-7872, or via email at email@example.com. They will get back to you as soon as possible.
Moreover, this company provides a 5-year warranty on parts, and even 10-year warranty on labor. This is one of the best customer services for the air purifier, and you would be happy with it.
There are many suggestions on using the Airpura T600 or/and Airpura T600 DLX as the ultimate solution for the problem of smoke. In fact, it is one of our best air purifiers for smoke, but it is only when you can afford the high cost of filter replacement. Otherwise, you should buy the IQAir GC MultiGas, which can save you more in long-term running.
Should I buy Airpura T600?
The Airpura T600 is really, really expensive, but yes, you should buy the Airpura T600 if you need to deal with mainly the tobacco smoke and smell in your home or your office.
- If you have serious allergies or asthma to airborne pollutants: which are not the tobacco smoke, an Airpura H600 with $200 less is better than this Airpura T600.
- If you want a better performance, or better fan power to clean your room faster: all the air purifiers in Airpura family have the same fan power, so if you still don’t satisfy, you must pay $1550 for the Blueair Pro XL.
- If you need an air purifier with a better room coverage: the Airpura T600 is one of the best air purifiers for extra large room, especially with the Airpura Central System.
- If you need a budget version of this air purifier: I highly recommend you to read our list of best air purifiers for smoke, but in brief, the Austin Air HealthMate, Oransi Max and Blueair Classic 405 are enough to deal with your everyday smoke problem in a much smaller room.
- If you need a more silent air purifier: the Airpura T600 is really quiet for its high fan power. If you don’t mind cut off the fan power, you can look for the AIRMEGA 400S or Alen BreatheSmart 75i, because both of them are much quieter than our today unit.
- If you care about the annual filter cost and energy cost: there are many saving options for you in this price range. Choose one from IQAir HealthPro Plus, Oransi EJ120, AIRMEGA 400S, Alen BreatheSmart 75i, Honeywell HPA600B or Philips 5000i.
- If you love the additional features: with less money, you can buy one of these AIRMEGA 300S, AIRMEGA 400S, Honeywell HPA600B and Philips 5000i for both the Smart Sensor and Smart Wifi connectivity functions. If you only care about the Smart Sensor, the IQAir HealthPro Plus and Alen BreatheSmart 75i will suit you better. Or if you don’t need to save the energy, and just want to control your air purifier via Alexa voice control, you should buy the Blueair Classic 605.

It is powerful, but the high cost keeps you away from it.
