Air purifiers like the Airpura C600 can be hard to review – do you judge them based on the performance, or as the most modern devices in the era of technology?
All of our reviews definitely fall in the first camp, as in Breathe Quality, we all choose the “Cleaning Power” as the most important criteria. So to say, all the air purifiers of Airpura will have a specific filtration option to match your needs.
The Airpura C600 has a range of powerful Activated Carbon filters, to remove completely the most harmful airborne chemicals and gases from the air. The performance is quite similar to the Airpura T600, and can be better with their upgraded versions – the Airpura C600 DLX and Airpura T600 DLX. It is safe to say our today Airpura C600 could be the air purifier with the best Activated Carbon filter in the world.
It may cost you more to buy the latest smartphones, but in the air purifier world, the Airpura C600 sits comfortably in the high-range segment. The top capable competitors with the Airpura C600 are the IQAir HealthPro Plus, Blueair Pro L and Oransi EJ120. The common between all of these devices? They are all only for the pure performance.
With a cost of $50 less, will the Airpura C600 be your next air purifier? If you have your answer, I have your best deal below.

Airpura C600 Design and Size
There is nothing to say about the design of Airpura C600, as well as the whole family of Airpura air purifiers. They share the same housing, but it is the best housing material – the powder coat steel. With this housing, the Airpura C600 is 93% recyclable, and can prevent any off-gassing of chemical vapors, both within the clean air stream and in the unit’s end-of-life phase.
It’s not difficult to understand the code name of this air purifier, the “C” stands for “chemicals”. As an air purifier designed specifically for chemicals and gases, the Airpura C600 was created with eco-awareness in mind. All the capacitors used in this air purifier are free of polychlorinated biphenyls, or PCBs, which are toxic to humans, animals and the environment.
There is one pressure seal on the filter chamber ensures that all of the dirty air passes through the filters. Other systems allow leakage and do not achieve the 99.97% HEPA filtration rating. Also, the felt gaskets will seal the filter chamber and maximize the filtration.
I guessed that the next paragraph of this review can be applied in every other Airpura’s design part in Breathe Quality. The Airpura C600 stands with 23 inches in height, and 15 inches in width. This is the exact size of the Austin Air devices, for example this Austin Air Bedroom Machine. This air purifier, and its brother – the Airpura C600 DLX is available to be attached in the Airpura Central Air System, a simple installation to provide continuous air purification in your home or office.
Airpura C600 makes use of the powerful 360 Degree air intake, as well as another 360° Distribution system for maximizing the air flow around your home. This is the best air flow system for the air purifier or air cleaner, and can only be achieved by the high-range air purifiers with powerful fan, like the IQAir HealthPro Plus.
Airpura C600 and Airpura C600 DLX both come with 3 styles of colors: the White, Black and the Beige (Cream). My testing unit is a White version, and I kinda love the bright color of white. It looks mostly like the Austin Air HealthMate and Austin Air Allergy Machine, and it help me know when I need to clean the pre-filter.
You can buy the Airpura C600 DLX with the deal below.
The weight of this Airpura C600 is about 45 lbs, and it is exactly a heavy machine. However, thanks to the installation of 4 casters, you can move the air purifier anywhere in your home much easier.

Airpura C600 Filters
Now, we are reading one of the two most important factors when deciding the performance of one air purifier – its air filters. Basically, we will check the quantity of air filters and what air filter types it used first. Airpura C600 makes use of the signature 3-stage air cleaning system of this company.
- Pre-filter – To protect the main filter, Airpura C600 uses a poly pre-filter, which can trap large particles such as dust and hair. It can be vacuumed clean and should be changed every 12 months.
- Activated Carbon Filter – The main reason to buy the Airpura C600 is because of the Activated Carbon filter, which can absorb a variety of chemical pollutants, odors, and tobacco smoke from the air.
- HEPA filter – Airpura C600 only uses a HEPA-Barrier filter, which has 95% efficient at removing any particles as small as 1 micron in size.
Just like any brothers and sisters of this brand, the Airpura C600 is covered by a poly pre-filter to help extend the life of the HEPA and carbon filters. This pre-filter is not a HEPA filter, so it can’t be compared with the pre-filter of such devices like IQAir HealthPro Plus, Austin Air Bedroom Machine or even the Oransi Erik 650A.
Now back to main reason we buy the Airpura C600, for advanced removal of harmful chemicals and gases. The Airpura C600 has a 3-inch deep Activated Carbon filter, which is 3 times better than the Oransi EJ120. Moreover, it weighs 26 lbs, and contains at least 9 times the amount of carbon than normal air filter. As a result, this filter can last for 2 years.
On the subject of the air filter, yes, these numbers prove the undeniable power of the Airpura C600 against any types of chemicals, smoke, gases and odors. It is high-quality, too. The Activated Carbon filter is made 100% of coconut shell, which is more eco-friendly than any ABS carbon filter in the market.
You can also upgrade the Activated Carbon filter to have potassium iodide (to enhance the chemical absorption) or to have potassium permanganate (to enhance the gases absorption). If you upgrade with air filter, it will cost you exactly like buying a fresh Airpura C600 DLX or Airpura T600 DLX.
For the Airpura C600 DLX, you will have an enhanced carbon bed with 17% potassium iodide and can address long-term chemical emissions such as the toxic Chinese drywall. The potassium iodide can accelerate the binding of chemicals and hydrogen sulfide gases much faster.
The purpose of the Airpura C600 is mostly for dealing with chemicals, gases and odors. That’s why this company only put the HEPA filter with the efficiency of 95% for any particles as small as 1 micron.
With this technical specs, it is really difficult to test the performance of this Airpura C600. Given the normal test, it will lose to any other True HEPA air purifiers. But to add the enough amount of chemicals like Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), lead or even radon, it would cost us more than $400 for a single test. Generally, the Airpura C600 needs 4 hours to completely finish such task, which is 12 times quicker than the Oransi EJ120.
For an air purifier specifically for chemicals and gases like the Airpura C600, the HEPA filter cost is only $59, and you need to replace it after 1 year. The high-quality Carbon filter, however, will cost you $279. But if you are living in proximity to industrial factories, you really need to pay for this Carbon filter, as it is only $0.4 you pay for your clean air each day.

Airpura C600 Room Coverage
The second important criteria to decide the performance of one air purifier is the room coverage and CADR rating. Airpura C600 is one high-range device, and you can expect it to cover an extra large space of 2000 sq ft.
The ACH of Airpura C600 is 2X. Any air purifiers in this brand will only exchange the air every 30 minutes.
The CADR of Airpura C600 is 560 cfm in general. From my experience, the CADR rating of this air purifier is only below the Blueair Pro XL, or the IQAir HealthPro Plus at its best condition. With such fan power, Airpura C600 can clean your room very fast.

Airpura C600 Sound
Despite of the strong fan power, with the advanced technology, Airpura can make their air purifiers perform as quietly as possible.
I am quite surprise to measure the lowest noise level of this Airpura C600 is only 28 db, which is even quieter than the whisper. It is amazing for the price, I believe.
The noise level at the highest setting is also reasonable for the fan power. It is about 62 db, a noise level that is like the noise level of conversation at office. You will notice it, but you won’t be distracted much by such noise level.

Airpura C600 Power Consumption
In Breathe Quality, one of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?”. In fact, an air purifier needs to run for a long time (usually more than 8 hours) to be efficient, and therefore, power consumption is an important criteria to decide which air purifier to buy.
Keep it in mind that an air purifier with better performance, will commonly consume more energy. The Airpura C600 has a lowest power consumption of 40W. When you run the device on highest fan speed, it would consume 120W.
For running an Airpura C600 8 hours per day, you need to pay from $15 to $43 annually. Even if you always run the air purifier on highest speed, it would cost you only $0.1 each day.

Airpura C600 Additional Features
Both the Airpura and Austin Air families are saying no to any kinds of additional features. It seems that the high-end air purifiers are mostly for air purification, not for some flashy features to show off. You shouldn’t be surprise if your Airpura C600 doesn’t have any additional features, just like the Blueair Pro L and Oransi EJ120.
There won’t be even the filter replacement indicator or the Timer. There is only one manual switch to change the fan speed of this machine.
If you like to add the Smart Sensor, a great feature to automatically adjust the fan power to suit the current indoor air quality, you need to buy the IQAir HealthPro Plus. Or with only $749, you can choose between the AIRMEGA 400S and the Alen BreatheSmart 75i.
Airpura C600 Customer Service
The Airpura Industries is a strong brand in Canada, and they are active in customer service field. Anyone who demands an air purifier from this brand can take dedicated suggestion about which device to buy, also with a reasonable installation of Central Air System (the latter is only available in local).
You can contact them freely via phone at 866-505-7872, or via email at email@example.com. They will get back to you as soon as possible.
Moreover, this company provides a 5-year warranty on parts, and even 10-year warranty on labor. This is one of the best customer services for the air purifier, and you would be happy with it.
The Airpura C600 and C600 DLX are specialists at dealing with most types of chemicals and gases. The 560-square-feet Activated Carbon filter is unmatched by any other brands, but it will only come with a very high price.
Should I buy Airpura C600?
Yes and no. The Airpura C600 is an expensive air purifier, and even though it is highly efficient against the chemicals, I will select the Airpura F600 instead.
- If you have serious allergies or asthma to airborne pollutants: which are not the chemicals, an Airpura H600 with $200 less is better than this Airpura T600.
- If you want a better performance, or better fan power to clean your room faster: all the air purifiers in Airpura family have the same fan power, so if you still don’t satisfy, you must pay $1550 for the Blueair Pro XL.
- If you need an air purifier with a better room coverage: the Airpura C600 is one of the best air purifiers for extra large room, especially with the Airpura Central System.
- If you need a budget version of this air purifier: with less than $130, the Austin Air HealthMate Plus has great performance against the chemicals. You can also downgrade to the Airpura R600, with a much better True HEPA filter.
- If you need a more silent air purifier: the Airpura C600 is really quiet for its high fan power. If you don’t mind cut off the fan power, you can look for the AIRMEGA 400S or Alen BreatheSmart 75i, because both of them are much quieter than our today unit.
- If you care about the annual filter cost and energy cost: there are many saving options for you in this price range. Choose one from IQAir HealthPro Plus, Oransi EJ120, AIRMEGA 400S, Alen BreatheSmart 75i, Honeywell HPA600B or Philips 5000i.
- If you love the additional features: with less money, you can buy one of these AIRMEGA 300S, AIRMEGA 400S, Honeywell HPA600B and Philips 5000i for both the Smart Sensor and Smart Wifi connectivity functions. If you only care about the Smart Sensor, the IQAir HealthPro Plus and Alen BreatheSmart 75i will suit you better. Or if you don’t need to save the energy, and just want to control your air purifier via Alexa voice control, you should buy the Blueair Classic 605.
