Brilliance develops over time. With the Envion Ionic Pro Turbo (TA500), it took only five months. However, this is still the most popular air purifier from Envion, which is marketed to be 300% more efficient than other competitors. The marketing is, well, sort of exaggeration, and you should read the Envion Ionic Pro Turbo Review to know the truth.
Updated: The flagship of Ionic Pro series in Envion family is the Envion Ionic Pro Platinum. It comes with some additional features, has better air flow system and Energy Star rating.
In Breathe Quality, we have reviewed all air purifiers under these sections. Also, we guarantee that:
- We do give honest reviews (both pros and cons) so anyone will guarantee to have the wisest choices.
- We do not (and never) exaggerate one product just to let you click the links and buy that product blindly.
- No need for filter replacement
- Quiet operation
- CARB certified for safety of ozone emission
- Low performance for the price
- Lacks of features
As one subsidiary of the well-known Swiss air purifier brand Boneco, the Envion was once a most popular air purifier brand in the North America market. Their Ionic Pro series is the standard ionizer, being certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for ozone emission, to meet an ozone emission concentration limit of 0.050 parts per million. The Envion Ionic Pro Turbo is the most popular one of this series, and it is being the Amazon’s Choice for many years. So, get ready to check the actual performance of this product in our latest Envion Ionic Pro Turbo Review.
Other Envion’s Air Purifier Reviews:
Envion Ionic Pro Turbo Price
The removal of HEPA filter, lack of fancy additional features, and a lame design can’t hide one clear fact about this tower air purifier: it’s actually better than the Envion Therapure TPP220 or Therapure TPP620.
While, of course, you don’t have such HEPA filter to match the performance of Therapure TPP230 or Therapure TPP630, and later, Therapure TPP240, the Envion Ionic Pro Turbo operates so quiet that you can’t tell if it is on or off. The ionizer is also tested strictly for safety, and it works a little bit better than other ionizer models in the market.
In reality, using an ionizer will help you prevent the filter replacement cost. Normally, a HEPA filter costs about one third of the air purifier’s upfront cost, and the sum of changing air filter annually is just huge. With the Envion Ionic Pro Turbo, you can live a bit easier.
To buy the Envion Ionic Pro Turbo, you should look for the official price tag of $149 in Envion website. However, to get one Envion air purifier on Amazon, maybe you need to spend more money, or less, depending on the deal you get. Below is one deal from us, Breathe Quality, and at the time of writing, it is about 15% OFF of the official price. But you should get the deal quickly.
The tower air purifier concept is quite common in this price range, as you can get many tower air purifiers from big brands like GermGuardian or Honeywell. I can give you some examples, the GermGuardian AC5350B and Honeywell AirGenius 4, both come with the signature air filtration system from these companies.
I also recommend to check the Envion Four Seasons FS200. This air purifier is the most special device in the whole Envion family, and it will offer you a lot of good features.

Envion Ionic Pro Turbo Design and Size
One of the most important specs on the Envion Ionic Pro Turbo, one that we noticed right away, is that it changes the overall design. If you are tired of the common design from the Therapure series, and you don’t just need a bigger Ionic Pro CA200, then the Envion Ionic Pro Turbo is clearly a big change.
Compared to its brothers, the air purifier is even bigger than Therapure TPP240 or Allergy Pro AP200, with the height of 27.2 inches. It is also thinner, making the Envion Ionic Pro Turbo completely distinctive than any GermGuardian air purifiers, for example GermGuardian AC5000 or GermGuardian AC5250PT, which design is borrowed for some Envion air purifiers.
Envion Ionic Pro Turbo uses the same back-to-front air flow system concept, just like other tower air purifiers, but the front air outlet is made V-shape. However, it is only for the appearance, and won’t have any impact on actual performance.
Though being a popular product of this family, the Envion Ionic Pro Turbo isn’t really rich-featured. As a result, the top control panel of this air purifier is quite simple, with only one button, and 4 different light indicators for fan speeds and Clean indication. There is a wire cleaning mechanism behind the control panel, and one main door to help you remove the collector blades.
Despite of the bigger size, Envion Ionic Pro Turbo only weighs 8 lbs, and you can grab and move it anywhere in your home easily.

Envion Ionic Pro Turbo Filters
Just like any air purifiers in the Ionic Pro series, the Envion Ionic Pro Turbo makes use of a signature air filtration system, consisting of only one air filter.
- Ionizer – Traps the airborne pollutants by positively charged them with negative ions, which complies the standard safety of CARB completely.
Again, to help you see the performance of this air purifier, I made a same test as I did with other Envion air purifiers, in a room of 150 square feet and after 1 hour. As you can see from the chart below, our today unit scored 88% for trapping any particles down to 0.3 microns. The performance of Envion Ionic Pro Turbon was quite lower than the ionic filter of Honeywell models, like Honeywell AirGenius 3, so if you like the ionizer concept, you really should check the flagship Envion Ionic Pro Platinum.
One advantage of having this air purifier is you don’t need any filter replacement. The Envion Ionic Pro Turbo only requires some monthly cleaning and maintenance, and you will have an indicator to remind you when to clean.

Envion Ionic Pro Turbo Room Coverage
Envion Ionic Pro Turbo is generously suggested for a room size of 500 square feet, which I find rather ridiculous for the price of this air purifier. In real-world use, the device can only perform well in a much smaller room.
The ACH of Envion Ionic Pro Turbo is 3x. That means you can use the air purifier to exchange the air every 20 minutes.
The CADR of Envion Ionic Pro Turbo is around 85 cfm in general. This CADR rating is really low for an air purifier stated for 500 square feet, which resulted in the low performance in the 150-sq-ft room test.

Envion Ionic Pro Turbo Sound
If there is one selling point for the Ionic Pro series, besides the optional favorite tower design concept, it should be the quiet operation. Being an ionizer, the Envion Ionic Pro Turbo doesn’t need much fan power to draw the air in, thus reduces the noise level to only 40 decibels (db), which resembles exactly the noise level of the library.
However, I still find a lot of negative reviews for the buzzing noise from this air purifier, which is also included in the manual. To reduce the noise, you should clean the collector blades and wires regularly, one advice that is also applied for other air purifiers as well. But again, you can’t avoid the crackling noise of the electrical ions in this air purifier.

Envion Ionic Pro Turbo Power Consumption
One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” because we need to run an air purifier for a constant long time, and power consumption is really a thing to consider.
Envion Ionic Pro Turbo has a normal power consumption of only 12 watts, which is just a bit higher than the previous Envion Ionic Pro CA200. The power consumption is also one of the lowest, though the Envion Ionic Pro CA200 doesn’t have Energy Star rating like the Envion Ionic Pro Platinum.
Running an Envion Ionic Pro Turbo for 8 hours per day, and you need to pay $4 each year.

Envion Ionic Pro Turbo Additional Features
The Envion Ionic Pro Turbo is another air purifier of Envion family against any fancy additional features. Besides one simple power button, you won’t have anything to do with this machine.
There is only one indicator for cleaning purpose, and when it goes red, you will know it’s time for your collector blades to be cleaned.
Envion Ionic Pro Turbo Customer Service
Envion is a subsidiary of the Swiss brand Boneco, a big air purifier brand with exceptional customer service. You can call the support for any Envion products toll free at 800-875-8577. This is the quickest way to reach the customer service, but if you prefer email, their contact is email@example.com.
You will only enjoy the warranty for the first year since purchase date, and you need to pay for any shipping and processing fee that occur. 1-year warranty is not as good as many other big brands (even Boneco own products have better warranty policy), but it is still better than nothing, right?
The Envion Ionic Pro Turbo is popular mainly thanks for its design, as well as a simple air filtration method that doesn’t require any filter replacement. However, the performance is really low for the price, and if you are an extreme allergy sufferer, you should consider a better HEPA air purifier.
The Amazon’s Choice air purifier isn’t truly a good choice.
