While the Envion Allergy Pro AP200 is certainly the best air purifier of Envion in terms of performance – the question everyone wants to answer is: can it kill the top dogs in low-range?

Or, short of outright death and dismemberment, can it at least capture some glory? Especially in an era when we don’t feel the availability of Envion in Amazon.

The short answer is: not in a blue moon, but then the truth is Envion making the Allergy Pro series to be with True HEPA filter, our today Envion Allergy Pro AP200 will have a strong foundation to face most tower air purifiers in the same price range.

You can get the Envion Allergy Pro AP200 with the official price of $129, and that’s only the price of the old Therapure TPP230 and Therapure TPP630. If you want the flagships like Therapure TPP240 or Therapure TPP440, you will be charged for  $20 more. Moreover, you can look for the Envion Four Seasons FS200, to get the humidifier and heater features.

This price tag is also more affordable than the popular Envion Ionic Pro Turbo of this family, as well as many tower air purifiers from other brands like GermGuardian or Honeywell. However, the real rivals in this segment are the new devices: Levoit Core 300 or InvisiClean Aura II. With True HEPA filter and good basic features, these air purifiers are much more preferable.

Envion Allergy Pro AP200 Design and Size

What you will discover is a capable tower air purifier, not the original console air purifier like the first model in Allergy Pro series from years ago. Making a device with tower design concept means Envion is ready to add the certified True HEPA filter into the popular Therapure series. The exact date for this change, however, is uncertain.

The real challenge is that Envion needs to give a little change from the appearance of Envion Allergy Pro AP200, so that customers won’t mistake it with one in Therapure series. Remember that they want to position the Allergy Pro air purifier as a real deal for allergies, so even in the tower form, the Envion Allergy Pro AP200 must be different.

Envion did the changes by making tower air purifier with 25 inches in height, but spending 5 inches for a big handle on top. It is quite similar to a top air outlet, but no, it is just a simple handle. Envion also reduces the weight of Envion Allergy Pro AP200 to only 8.7 lbs, and thanks to this big handle, you can move the air purifier quite easily.

For the core air flow system, Envion Allergy Pro AP200 remains the common back-to-top from tower air purifiers. They use the perforated holes in front air outlet again, as this is the design concept of the previous Therapure TPP50. From the back, we still have a large air grill for air intake.

To cut cost, we won’t see the LED display from Therapure TPP240 anymore. Instead, the Envion Allergy Pro AP200 operates with only one manual knob, using 3 different fan speeds.

Envion Allergy Pro AP200 Filters

To decide the performance of one air purifier, normally we will check the quantity and quality of the air filters, as well as the actual air filter types inside the device. As the only True HEPA air purifier in the family, Envion Allergy Pro AP200 will use only 1-stage air cleaning system as below.

1. True HEPA filter – The Envion Allergy Pro AP200 uses only one certified True HEPA filter, to capture 99.97% of dust, dust mites, pollen, pet dander, hair, mold spores and fungi down to 0.3 microns in size.

There is not much to say about the quality of Envion True HEPA air filter. It is not only certified by California Air Resources Board (CARB), it is also from one of the biggest air purifier brands in the world. With only one air filter, the air purifier can do better than any air purifiers in this family.

Now, back to the most curious part, I tested the Envion Allergy Pro AP200 in a room of 150 square feet, and let it run in 1 hour. The efficiency of this air purifier was 99.5% for trapping all airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns. This result was as good as some tower air purifiers of Guardian Technologies like GermGuardian AC5250PT or GermGuardian AC5300B.

This air purifier uses the exclusive AP200F True HEPA filter, and you need to change after 6 months of use. However, I can’t find any deal for this air filter, and you need to go to the local air purifier stores for a filter replacement.

Envion Allergy Pro AP200 Sound

Sadly, with the new power of the air filter and the fan, the Envion Allergy Pro AP200 will continue any problems of loud noise. Just like any air purifiers in the Therapure series, this air purifier isn’t recommended for quiet places, mostly the bedroom and the co-working space.

I’ve measured the noise level of Envion Allergy Pro AP200 to be 60 decibels (db) at maximum, and I believe it is too high for an air purifier with such only performance.

One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” because we need to run an air purifier for a constant long time, and power consumption is really a thing to consider.

Like I’ve said earlier, the Envion Allergy Pro AP200 needs some ways to cut cost, so it can keep the True HEPA filter with lower price tag than the rest of its family. So to say, just like any air purifiers before the Therapure TPP240, Envion Allergy Pro AP200 only consists of one manual knob, to change the fan speeds.

It doesn’t even have a LED indicator for filter replacement, so you should remember the date by yourself. If you want an air purifier with more fancy features, I suggest to look for the SilverOnyx, Hathaspace or AeraMax 200 within the same price range.
