The Envion Therapure TPP540 is the next-gen flagship of Envion, following the successful release of Envion Therapure TPP440. Sadly, it is currently unavailable in some trusted retailers, and maybe you can’t grab a deal for the third-gen flagship of Envion even in Breathe Quality. But don’t disappoint, you can still check our today Envion Therapure TPP540 Review, and wait for the device to show up anytime soon.
Update: This air purifier isn’t the best Envion Therapure air purifier anymore, as the Envion Therapure TPP640 has been released.
In Breathe Quality, we have reviewed all air purifiers under these sections. Also, we guarantee that:
- We do give honest reviews (both pros and cons) so anyone will guarantee to have the wisest choices.
- We do not (and never) exaggerate one product just to let you click the links and buy that product blindly.
- Tidy control panel
- Energy Star rating
- Still no True HEPA filter
- Low performance for the money
Envion did it again. The Envion Therapure TPP540 is much likely the same as the old Therapure TPP440, to the point that we aren’t able to tell the difference between the two devices. In our today Envion Therapure TPP540 Review, we will see the clear comparison between our today unit with the favorite predecessor.
Other Envion’s Air Purifier Reviews:
Envion Therapure TPP540 Price
Like I’ve said earlier, the Envion Therapure TPP540 is currently unavailable in some popular retailers. You can check our deal regularly, and if you can’t find an available one, don’t be sad. You can always get the Therapure TPP440 instead, with similar design concept and performance.
Yes, the Envion Therapure TPP540 itself features a pleasing design, but that’s all for a newer model. It doesn’t bring any innovative settings, or additional filters to raise the bar. And for the official price of Envion Therapure TPP540, it remains at $179, which started since the first flagship Therapure TPP240.
My honest advise for any readers up to this point is using other air purifiers within the same price, but coming with the real True HEPA filter, like Levoit LV-PUR131, Winix 5500-2 or Honeywell HPA200. These air purifiers are more likely to be available, and they also receive more positive reviews than our today unit.

Envion Therapure TPP540 Design and Size
Let’s jump right in the point, the Envion Therapure TPP540 is just the device we’ve seen from the old Therapure TPP440. However, there are some clear differences to tell one from another.
It’s a lazy effort from Envion, as the device boasts the same design, same big handle, same features and same performance. So what’s new? We have a few white area on top, and the handle is made in another shape (which doesn’t help grabbing it easier, so we laughed at it).
Okay, great. But now the Allergy Pro AP200 has come with an all-white color option, as well as a True HEPA filter inside, and finally, a lower price point. Or the Envion Four Seasons FS200 is good to go with humidifier and heater features. Then we can say goodbye to the old Therapure TPP540.
It doesn’t have the base like Therapure TPP240, and with the height of 25 inches and the weight of 9.5 lbs, the Envion Therapure TPP540 seems fragile and weak on the ground. You should keep it away from your pets, or children.
This air purifier makes use of back-to-front air flow system concept, which is similar to any other tower air purifiers in the whole family. There is a locking latch to help you unlock the back air inlet, mainly to take out the air filter for cleaning.
The big selling point here is the new tidy control panel, which gathers all buttons inside the LED screen area. However, the shame placement of buttons on front still bring us many difficulties in controlling the unit.

Envion Therapure TPP540 Filters
To decide the performance of one air purifier, normally we will check the quality and quantity of air filters inside this device, as well as the air filter types. Just like the previous model, we will have a 3-stage air cleaning system in the Envion Therapure TPP540.
- HEPA-type filter – It is not a True HEPA filter, and the quality is much inferior. It is able to capture mold, smoke, germs, bacteria, viruses, common allergens, pet dander & odor from the air in your home.
- UV-C light filter – The Envion Therapure TPP540 can kill germs, bacteria and viruses with the UV lamp. It is certified by California Air Resources Board (CARB) for ozone emissions under safety.
- Photocatalyst filter – A material to support the UV light filter in removing dangerous gasses and toxic Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from the air.
With the same test as other air purifiers in Envion family, in a room of 150 square feet, the Envion Therapure TPP540 scored 92% for trapping any particles down to 0.3 microns. Surprisingly, the result was a bit lower than the older Therapure TPP440.
After re-reading our review of the Therapure TPP440, there was always a worry of simply rehashing what had already been written. After all, we’re looking at almost exactly the same air purifier. Envion Therapure TPP540 uses the same air filter as the previous model, as well as the same UV lamp from the Therapure TPP240.

Envion Therapure TPP540 Room Coverage
You asked for an upgrade? Not the performance, then, as the Envion Therapure TPP540 has an even weaker fan power than the previous Therapure TPP440. It is still recommended for a room of 395 square feet, though.
The ACH of Envion Therapure TPP540 is 3x.
The CADR of Envion Therapure TPP540 is 136 Dust/ 128 Smoke/ 138 Pollen (cfm). This CADR rating is a bit lower than the previous model, which is really, really ridiculous.

Envion Therapure TPP540 Sound
The highest noise level of this Envion Therapure TPP540 is 60 decibels (db), which is really high for an air purifier with such low fan power. That’s why I don’t recommend to use the air purifier in quiet places, like bedroom or office.

Envion Therapure TPP540 Power Consumption
One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” because we need to run an air purifier for a constant long time, and power consumption is really a thing to consider.
Envion Therapure TPP540 has power consumption of 53 watts, with an additional 3 watts for the UV lamp. It is quite high for an Energy Star air purifier, as the CADR/watt rate is only 2.6.
Running an Envion Therapure TPP540 for 8 hours per day, and you need to pay $19 each year.

Envion Therapure TPP540 Additional Features
The only real difference that is instantly apparent from the previous model is the appearance of the LED screen and placement of buttons. For the function, we have the same additional features from Therapure TPP440.
There are basic Timer with setting up to 24 hours, a Night Mode function to help turn off both the UV light bar and the LED screen, only let the power button remain lit. I must repeat, the Night Mode only turns off the UV light bar, not the actual UV lamp inside the air purifier.
You also have the LED indicator for cleaning purpose. To reset the indicator, press the timer and power buttons together for 3 seconds.
Envion Therapure TPP540 Customer Service
Envion is a subsidiary of the Swiss brand Boneco, a big air purifier brand with exceptional customer service. You can call the support for any Envion products toll free at 800-875-8577. This is the quickest way to reach the customer service, but if you prefer email, their contact is email@example.com.
You will only enjoy the warranty for the first year since purchase date, and you need to pay for any shipping and processing fee that occur. 1-year warranty is not as good as many other big brands (even Boneco own products have better warranty policy), but it is still better than nothing, right?
Not a big change from the previous Therapure TPP440, and we don’t expect a device with lower fan power. Moreover, the Envion Therapure TPP540 is often out of stock, and you will have less chance to put your hand on it.
Should forget about this device.
