The Envion Ionic Pro CA200 is snappy enough and does all the air filtration things, but just like other old air purifier companies like Holmes and Bionaire, the compact Envion is not the best choice at the moment. You’d better read this Envion Ionic Pro CA200 Review first, because our reviews are always the most up-to-date.
In Breathe Quality, we have reviewed all air purifiers under these sections. Also, we guarantee that:
- We do give honest reviews (both pros and cons) so anyone will guarantee to have the wisest choices.
- We do not (and never) exaggerate one product just to let you click the links and buy that product blindly.
- No filter replacement cost
- CARB tested ionizer
- Make a strange noise
- Too little value for the money
Envion is the subsidiary of the Swiss incorporation Boneco, with the origin of more than 50 years. The company mainly targets Canadian market, and though the Ionic Pro series is quite outdated, you can still find many reviews of the Envion Ionic Pro CA200 online. In today Envion Ionic Pro CA200 Review, we will know if the device is still worth buying in 2019 or not.
Other Envion’s Air Purifier Reviews:
Envion Ionic Pro CA200 Price
The Envion Ionic Pro CA200 is the entry-level of the Ionic Pro series. Before Envion tried to make the ionic filter they launched some good low-cost air purifiers from Therapure series, most notably the Envion Therapure TPP50 and Envion Therapure TPP100. Both of which are only $59 for a Permanent HEPA-type filter.
The Envion Ionic Pro CA200 will charge you a little bit more for their new ionic filter. It seems the company try to push the limits of what’s possible on a low-end device by giving a distinctive filtration method. It was an ambitious goal, so has Envion pulled it off or has too much been compromised?
Envion Ionic Pro CA200 comes with an official price tag of $89 in Envion website, though you can get a much more preferable deal in Breathe Quality. However, the device is quite old at the moment, and sometimes you may get a higher price than normal.
In 2019, we can spend $89 to buy air purifiers with real True HEPA filter. The most popular options should be the new Levoit Vista 200 or AeraMax 100, as both air purifiers come from well-known American air purifier brands, and they are available on Amazon more often. Or you can buy either GermGuardian AC4825, Pure Enrichment PureZone or Blue Pure 411, these air purifiers are backed up with great customer service and they will ensure the finest air quality in your home.
The device is also superseded by the Envion Ionic Pro Turbo and Envion Ionic Pro Platinum, not mentioning the Envion Therapure TPP220 is nearly the same cost as the Ionic Pro machine. These air purifiers are quite affordable, but I should remind you that the price is only one section to help you make choice.

Envion Ionic Pro CA200 Design and Size
Like many classic air purifier brands, GermGuardian and Honeywell to name a few, Envion is fond of making tower air purifiers. The tower air purifier design concept is always suitable for small rooms, and it can help direct the fresh air toward the users.
My first impression is the similarity between our today Envion Ionic Pro CA200 with the GermGuardian AC4825, or taller, the GermGuardian AC5000. The top is curved toward front, and we have a removable cap, to open the air purifier and lift the collection blades out.
However, the air purifier is more compact than the tower devices from Guardian Technologies, with the height of only 17 inches. That was presumably one of the cost-cutting measures required for the low budget air purifier, but remember that the GermGuardian AC4825 was sold with the same price, and it is 22 inches in height. But 17 inches is compact enough to put it on desk or table, which is actually great.
This air purifier uses a simple back-to-front air flow system concept, with large parallel air grills on the body. The base of Envion Ionic Pro CA200 is quite sturdy, but you still need to be careful with a 6.25-lb tower air purifier in your home. Otherwise, your children, or pets can collide with the air purifier and shove it on ground easily.
We have a simple control panel on this air purifier, with one light indicator to check if it’s working, one power button and two other light indicators for fan speeds. This is definitely one classic air purifier.

Envion Ionic Pro CA200 Filters
As the representative of the Ionic Pro series from Envion family, the Envion Ionic Pro CA200 has only one stage for air filtration system.
- Ionizer – Traps the airborne pollutants by positively charged them with negative ions, which complies the standard safety of CARB completely.
There is not much to explain for the ionic filter of Envion Ionic Pro CA200. You will get the irritants on the collection blades inside this air purifier, which should be cleaned regularly. It is simple to remove the collection blades, so don’t worry.
I used the old test for the low-end air purifier, in a room of 100 square feet and after 1 hour. You can see the difference in efficiency between Envion air purifiers, and our today unit ended up with only 78% for trapping any particles down to 0.3 microns.
This air purifier is filterless, and you don’t need to replace the air filter as usual. Such a great thing to have the Envion Ionic Pro CA200.

Envion Ionic Pro CA200 Room Coverage
Well, just like other ionic air purifiers within the same price range, we can’t expect the Envion Ionic Pro CA200 to work in a large room. It is suggested to use in a room of up to 200 square feet, but I believe the real-world use must be in a much smaller room.
The ACH of Envion Ionic Pro CA200 is 3x. With this air changes per hour rating, the Envion Ionic Pro CA200 will exchange the fresh air every 20 minutes.
The CADR of Envion Ionic Pro CA200 is 50 Dust/ 50 Smoke/ 65 Pollen (cfm).

Envion Ionic Pro CA200 Sound
Envion marketed that the Envion Ionic Pro CA200 is totally silent. Well, without the HEPA filter, the air purifier won’t need high fan power and as a result, will be more silent. However, I still find a lot of negative reviews for the Envion Ionic Pro CA200 to make crackling noise, which is also normal for an ionizer with constantly electrical charging.
I recorded an average noise level of around 40 decibels (db), which is just like the noise level of library. If anyone find an uncommon noise from this device, please contact us immediately so we can update the review.

Envion Ionic Pro CA200 Power Consumption
One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” because we need to run an air purifier for a constant long time, and power consumption is really a thing to consider.
With normal voltage operation, the Envion Ionic Pro CA200 runs at rated power of 50 watts. The power consumption is not the best, but it is not high, either.
For running an Envion Ionic Pro CA200 for 8 hours per day, you need to pay $18 each year.

Envion Ionic Pro CA200 Additional Features
Envion Ionic Pro CA200 is only the entry-level air purifier of this series, so you shouldn’t expect any high-end features in this air purifier. Besides the power button, you will get two fan modes. The low output cycle the unit ON for 25 seconds, then let it rest for another 25 seconds and so on. When you run this air purifier in the high output mode, it will run continuously without interruption.
We only have one LED indicator for cleaning purpose. If the unit’s blade collector needs to be cleaned, or when the unit faces some troubles, the indicator will turn on.
Envion Ionic Pro CA200 Customer Service
Envion is a subsidiary of the Swiss brand Boneco, a big air purifier brand with exceptional customer service. You can call the support for any Envion products toll free at 800-875-8577. This is the quickest way to reach the customer service, but if you prefer email, their contact is email@example.com.
You will only enjoy the warranty for the first year since purchase date, and you need to pay for any shipping and processing fee that occur. 1-year warranty is not as good as many other big brands (even Boneco own products have better warranty policy), but it is still better than nothing, right?
The Envion Ionic Pro CA200 is an old product, with outdated features and unreliable air filtration performance. It is affordable, yes, but still you can get many real True HEPA air purifiers with the same price, like Levoit Vista 200, PureZone Halo or GermGuardian AC4825.
