Envion is not a popular air purifier brand at the moment, but this company is an active subsidiary of a former Swiss long-history air purifier brand, now in the name of Boneco. The Envion Therapure TPP240 is once the flagship of this company, before it is superseded by the Envion Therapure TPP440 the following year. Let’s find out if the air purifier is still legit to buy, in our most up-to-date Envion Therapure TPP240 Review.
Other Envion’s Air Purifier Reviews:
Envion Therapure TPP240 Price
Envion tried to weigh in with a capable air purifier at a decent price with the previous Therapure TPP220, after combining all the air filter types from predecessors. It is so okay with the new air filtration system that they decide to continue the legacy not only on our today unit, but to the Therapure TPP440 and later, Therapure TPP540.
This Envion Therapure TPP240 has a more-than-familiar feel about it, given that this model is once again is using the design concept settled by the previous Therapure TPP230 rather than making a brand new air purifier. More or less, you will think of the Envion Therapure TPP240 as a black color option of the Therapure TPP230, unless you check the top control panel. To be more precise, the internal parts of both these air purifiers are exactly the same.
The asking price of this Envion Therapure TPP240 also raises to $149, which is $20 higher than the previous model. This is also the most desired price range that Envion wants to claim, especially when they have 3 different air purifiers using the same price tag. Honestly, I prefer the Envion Allergy Pro AP200, especially when it is the only model with True HEPA filter.
If you have nostalgia for the old products, you can check the Holmes HAP8650B-NU or Honeywell HFD-120-Q. But the real competitors with our today Envion Therapure TPP240 are the smart air purifiers of top dogs in air purifier industry, for example GermGuardian CDAP4500BCA, Levoit LV-PUR131 or Winix C535. China also provides us with their Hathaspace Smart Air Purifier and again, I believe no one want the Envion air purifier over these attractive devices.
However, I am happy to give you a deal for this Envion Therapure TPP240. Looking at the current unavailability of Therapure TPP540 and Therapure TPP640, if you really want to have the Envion product, you must act quickly.

Envion Therapure TPP240 Design and Size
I suggest to skip this section if you came from the review of previous Envion Therapure TPP230, because of the near similarity of both products. Yes, the newer tower air purifier is keeping exactly the exterior styling which we are quite familiar from Envion. Fellow fans will be pleased to see an air purifier with 26 inches in height, new premium black color option and a silver bezel around the top control panel. It also highlights the UV indicator light bar on front better.
The core offering is still much the same as the older brother, as Envion Therapure TPP240 did a similar back-to-front air flow system. Up front on the device there’s a big air outlet with large grills, which allows you to enjoy the fresh air. The air intake is from the back, made with large grills and a locking latch to help unlock the air purifier. The large parallel grills are replacing the perforated holes completely, which is not really a big deal for a low-range product like Envion air purifier.
But in addition to this we can clearly see the difference from the top control panel of this air purifier. Say goodbye to the knob control since Therapure TPP220, as we now have a brand new LED display with 5 functional buttons. I feel extra satisfied using the new control panel, as it is really clear and helpful.
What’s more, the Envion Therapure TPP240 only weighs 10.3 lbs, and thanks to the convenient handle from the back, you can move this air purifier anywhere in your home.

Envion Therapure TPP240 Filters
Envion Therapure TPP240 is truly the old flagship of a generation with the most air purifiers in history of Envion. It has a 4-stage air cleaning system, to provide an extra stage of air filtration for your indoor air quality.
- HEPA-type filter – It is not a True HEPA filter, and the quality is much inferior. It is able to capture mold, smoke, germs, bacteria, viruses, common allergens, pet dander & odor from the air in your home.
- UV-C light filter – The Envion Therapure TPP240 can kill germs, bacteria and viruses with the UV lamp. It is certified by California Air Resources Board (CARB) for ozone emissions under safety.
- Photocatalyst filter – A material to support the UV light filter in removing dangerous gasses and toxic Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from the air.
- Ionizer – Negative ions (anions) attach to positively charged air pollutants, then refresh the indoor air. Can be switched on/off.
We can see clearly the additional ionizer as a force to ensure the efficiency of Envion Therapure TPP240. Though the amount of ions is not as much as things like Envion Ionic Pro Turbo or Envion Ionic Pro Platinum, it can help linger the pollutants inside the HEPA filter for a longer time. A pity that we only have a HEPA-type air filter, so it can’t guarantee the optimal performance like a certified True HEPA filter.
Moreover, there is a photocatalyst filter, and with TiO2 aid, this air filter can enhance the performance of UV-C light filter, and can decompose the pollutants like gases or VOCs with relatively low cost, and high chemical stability.
To test the performance of this Envion Therapure TPP240, I used the same test as its predecessors, in a room of 150 square feet and duration of 1 hour. Our today unit ended up with better efficiency, up to 92% for trapping any particles as small as 0.3 microns. Although the air purifier is not as good as Honeywell AirGenius 3, it performed better than many classic air purifiers of Honeywell like Honeywell HFD280B or Honeywell HFD-120-Q.
We use the same HEPA filter from Therapure TPP230 – the TPP240F filter, which is said to be permanent, but I still give you a deal to get the replacement in case your air filter is damaged by unexpected reasons. For the UV lamp, you should replace it after 12 months of use, so it will guarantee the best performance.

Envion Therapure TPP240 Room Coverage
A major disappointment, however, is the old fan power from Therapure TPP230. As a result, the room coverage of Envion Therapure TPP240 remains 350 square feet, and I believe the actual room coverage can be smaller due to low CADR rating.
The ACH of Envion Therapure TPP240 is 3x. This air purifier can exchange the clean air every 20 minutes.
The CADR of Envion Therapure TPP220 is 132 Dust/ 137 Smoke/ 155 Pollen (cfm). In fact, the CADR rating of this air purifier is even lower than the previous model. This is poor when compared to the top-class competitors like Winix 5500-2, Honeywell HPA200 or Coway AP-1216L.

Envion Therapure TPP240 Sound
This isn’t an air purifier suitable for the quiet places, because of its weird high noise level. It’s quite a way from having an Envion air purifier with good fan power and keep the rattling noise out, giving the Envion Therapure TPP240 a rather underspecified feel when lined up against many recent silent air purifier newcomers.
The noise level of this Envion Therapure TPP240 is measured to be 60 decibels (db) at maximum, which is the noise at public places like restaurants or some offices. It is noisy enough to keep you awake at night, especially when you’re sensitive to sound.

Envion Therapure TPP240 Power Consumption
One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” because we need to run an air purifier for a constant long time, and power consumption is really a thing to consider.
One of the strong selling points of the Envion, and this is no exception, is the low power consumption. This Envion Therapure TPP240 runs with rated power of 55 watts, with an additional 3 watts for the UV lamp. It is better than most of Winix air purifiers with higher fan power.
Running an Envion Therapure TPP240 for 8 hours per day, and you need to pay $20 each year.

Envion Therapure TPP240 Additional Features
The Envion Therapure TPP240 is designed to be richer-feature than the old predecessors. Actually, the additional features are the main reason you pay more $20 for. And beside the obvious new LED display, we will have the basic Timer for the first time in Envion devices.
Now you will have only one button to change fan speeds, instead of using the manual knob as in the past. There is also one LED indicator to warn you when to clean the air filter. It is really convenient, right?
Envion Therapure TPP240 Customer Service
Envion is a subsidiary of the Swiss brand Boneco, a big air purifier brand with exceptional customer service. You can call the support for any Envion products toll free at 800-875-8577. This is the quickest way to reach the customer service, but if you prefer email, their contact is firstname.lastname@example.org.
You will only enjoy the warranty for the first year since purchase date, and you need to pay for any shipping and processing fee that occur. 1-year warranty is not as good as many other big brands (even Boneco own products have better warranty policy), but it is still better than nothing, right?
The Envion Therapure TPP240 is a better version that has something to join in the aggressive competitive low-range segment of air purifier market. It still doesn’t have the True HEPA filter, but the manufacturer explained that you will need the device mostly for killing germs and bacteria. Well, that’s not a good reason for an inferior air filter, but you still can live with that.
- Cleaning Power
- Power Consumption
Envion Therapure TPP240 is a better model for the modern days, but it’s still far from perfect.
