Coway Airmega 100 Price
The budget air purifier segment in the U.S. is once again the most competitive category, crowded with cheap no-name products from Chinese manufacturers. Well-known brands like Coway do not want to give up their share of the market, so they continue investing heavily in the entry-level segment with a wide range of air purifier models to maintain a strong presence.
The Coway Airmega 100, along with its shorter Coway Airmega 50 brother, is bringing the ambition of Coway to deal with Blueair, Levoit and Winix. Whoever wins this segment will likely control more than 70% of the air purifier market, at least based on Amazon sales trends. At $129, the Coway Airmega 100 needs to follow current market trends by offering more features, giving it a much better chance of achieving strong commercial success.
The Coway Airmega 100 does not have an easy path ahead, especially with strong competitors like the Blue Pure 511i Max, Winix A230 and the Levoit Core 300S already on the market. However, with its long warranty period, low annual operating cost, and decent performance, the Airmega 100 still has the potential to become a strong contender in this segment.
We often see the Coway Airmega available at discounts of up to 35% OFF, and we are always happy to share those deals with our audience.

Coway Airmega 100 Design and Size
Undeniably, Coway has released quite a few air purifiers that could be considered cylindrical models over the years. The Coway Airmega 100 and its smaller sibling, the Coway Airmega 50, are the company’s first models to fully adopt this design style, although their appearance feels fairly conventional. We still see the perforated holes around the 360° air intake, which somewhat resemble the premium Coway Airmega 400, but the similarities mostly end there.
While the Coway Airmega 100 uses a design style that will likely become even more common in the future, it is slightly more expensive and noticeably taller than the Coway Airmega 50. Measuring 8.7″ D × 15.6″ H × 8.7″ W, the Airmega 100 is about 3 inches taller than its smaller sibling and taller than most of its direct competitors. If you prefer placing your air purifier on the floor, this design should fit comfortably in that setup.
The larger Coway Airmega 100 is available in both black and white versions, unlike the smaller Coway Airmega 50. Black finishes are usually more prone to showing fingerprints, but the matte black coating on the Airmega 100 does a fairly good job of resisting smudges and fingerprints.
The Coway Airmega 100 still uses the familiar bottom-to-top airflow design found in many modern cylindrical air purifiers. Its top-mounted control panel uses touch controls and looks very similar to the one on the Coway Airmega 50. Finally, the unit weighs only 6.6 lbs, making it easy to move around your home whenever needed.

Coway Airmega 100 Filters
To evaluate an air purifier’s performance, we usually start by checking the types of filters it uses and the number of filtration layers included in the system. The Coway Airmega 100 uses the simple 3-stage air cleaning system.
- Pre-filter – A vacuumable pre-filter is outside the main filter to capture large objects of contaminants.
- HyperCaptive filter – It is actually a True HEPA filter, which is rated to capture up to 99.97% of airborne particles smaller than 0.3 microns; and 99.5% of particles down to 0.1 microns.
- Activated Carbon filter – A deodorization layer inside the HEPA filter, to deal with odors and smoke.
It is basically the same between the Airmega 100 and Airmega 50. Both models use an all-in-one filter design, with the taller Airmega 100 simply using a larger version of the filter. Unlike Levoit and GermGuardian, Coway doesn’t offer customized HEPA filter for the budget air purifiers.
Performance-wise, the Coway Airmega 100 is designed to handle a larger room size, targeting spaces of around 150 square feet at its price point. Fortunately, it does not disappoint. In our test, the air purifier was able to capture 99.66% of airborne particles down to 0.3 microns after one hour of operation. The rating is behind the competition, especially when you look for some more expensive air purifiers like the Winix 5510 and Blue Pure 511i Max. However, compared to similarly priced options such as the Medify MA-25 and the GermGuardian AC5250PT, the Airmega 100 holds up very well.

Coway Airmega 100 Room Coverage
The Coway Airmega 100 will cover a much larger room size than its shorter counterpart, at 177 square feet. It seems the Airmega 100 isn’t brought for AHAM-verified test anymore, but its performance and room coverage is widely confirmed from other labs.
The ACH of the Airmega 100 is 5X. In its suggested room size, the Airmega 100 can exchange air 5 times per hour.
The CADR of the Airmega 100 is 121 Dust/ 114 Smoke/ 140 Pollen (cfm).

Coway Airmega 100 Sound
The Coway Airmega 100 is a pretty good air purifier when keeping the noise level as low as 20 decibels on it lowest speed. However, the highest fan speed can reach up to 57 decibels (dB), which is similar to the normal conversation’s noise level.
If you plan to use the Coway Airmega 100 in your bedroom, make sure to turn on the Night mode setting at night.

Coway Airmega 100 Power Consumption
One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” An air purifier is meant to run for a long time to be efficient, that’s why many air purifier brands consider the energy-saving standard, mostly in the rate of Energy Star, is one important selling point.
The Coway Airmega 100 is an Energy Star air purifier, with a pretty impressive performance per watt, rating 6. Its power consumption is only 19 watts, meaning it’s the same as common lighting bulbs.
If you’re using the Airmega 100 for at least 8 hours per day, you only need to pay $8.33 annually.

Coway Airmega 100 Additional Features
We are not surprised to see a Smart Sensor included in the new Coway Airmega 100, especially since the Coway Airmega 50 already promoted this feature quite heavily. In this price range, Smart Sensors are quickly becoming standard features, and at Breathe Quality, we welcome that trend because a smarter air purifier almost always delivers a better user experience.
Irrespective of whether you find air quality indicators on air purifiers intriguing or gimmicky, it’s an agreeable fact that a purifier with real-time feedback is better than one without. It activates the Auto mode, which adjust the fan speed immediately when it find the air quality poorer. It’s an engineering feat that takes us closer to the ambient, always-on air monitoring of the future.
Finally, we have Child lock setting, Timer and Night light option in this Coway Airmega 100. Don’t forget the LED indicator for filter replacement, you need to reset it every year.

Our verdict
Recent years were excellent for Coway, occupying a top position in the air purifier market. The Coway Airmega 100 is an important product for Coway as the company looks to compete again in the budget air purifier segment, a market where its presence has been limited for quite some time.
