The Levoit Vital Pet Pro certainly will come to Breathe Quality’s list of the best air purifier for pets. It takes us only a few days to revise the list, reflecting two months of testing this new unit.

Levoit is clearly working from my same list, and the Levoit Vital Pet Pro will please committed pet owners and air-quality enthusiasts alike. In many ways, including some I didn’t expect, the Levoit Vital Pet Pro proves it’s even worth the somewhat premium price.

Yes, the Levoit Vital Pet Pro is even higher than the Levoit Vital Pet – a forgotten air purifier that doesn’t justify its price against an useful model like the Levoit Vital 200S. So, at $199, the Levoit Vital Pet Pro pushes far away from the base Levoit Vital 100S. It is a serious move from Levoit, I must admit.

But what do I gain? I want the best maintenance design. The Levoit Vital Pet Pro outlasts the manual pre-filter cleaning cycle of any comparable pet purifier; its Auto-Clean scraper clears hair and debris into a removable tray so you aren’t digging matted fur out of a mesh screen every week.

I want the best filtration. While the Levoit Vital Pet Pro can’t deliver such high fan power as its competitors: the Blue Pure 311i Max, Winix T810 and GermGuardian AC3200 all deliver similar or better performance than even the Levoit Core 400S – an ace air purifier from Levoit. However, years of making thoughtful pet air filter, Levoit knows how to sell the Levoit Vital Pet Pro.

What else do I need? I live with pets, and the Levoit Vital Pet Pro is one of the best smart purifiers ever made for a pet household.

Levoit Vital Pet Pro Design and Size

The Levoit Vital Pet Pro is difficult to distinguish from the standard Levoit Vital Pet at a glance, which doesn’t mean there are no differences, but rather the changes are purposeful rather than cosmetic. The dust tray panel is new, the Auto-Clean indicator is integrated, but mostly the new unit looks like the prior unit.

A deeper inspection is rewarding. The housing finish is built in layered matte white with softly textured surfaces that give the unit a quiet, clean presence, especially in the spare, minimal white finish. The top control panel is restrained, with a complementary ring of LED status indicators.

Remember that both Levoit Vital Pet Pro and Vital Pet are based from the Levoit Vital 100S, so they both have the wide U-shaped air inlet. Other than that, the Levoit Vital Pet Pro is a bit taller at 18 inches, but other dimensions remain the same. With additional features, the Levoit Vital Pet Pro is a bit heavier at 11.7 lbs.

Levoit pays great attention to detail when it comes to material and finish choices. Each surface element has a considered relationship to the overall form that complements the U-shaped air inlet at the base. The matte white body is consistent across the entire unit, while the inlet grille edges shift slightly into a metallic tonal treatment.

It also has a chew-resistant power cord built in, so destructive chewers can gnaw on the cord without exposing wires or affecting functionality. That’s right, the Levoit Vital Pet Pro ships with bite-resistant reinforcement on its power line, which is an accessory I actually had to buy separately for my previous pet-household electronics.

Levoit Vital Pet Pro Filters

The most important factor in determining an air purifier’s performance is its filtration system. We typically evaluate how many filters it uses and what air filter types are included. The Levoit Vital Pet Pro uses the same 3-stage air filtration system, just like the Levoit Vital Pet.

1. Pre-filter – This nylon pre-filter is able to capture large particles such as dust, lint, fibers, hair, and pet fur. You need to vacuum this filter regularly because it is only effective for a short time.
2. True HEPA filter – An enhanced H13 True HEPA filter with statically charged fibers to trap at least 99.97% of 0.3-micron airborne particles, such as fine dust, smoke particles, pollen, and pet dander.
3. Activated Carbon filter – A layer of carbon filter, to trap household odors.

The Levoit Vital Pet Pro is based from the Levoit Vital 100S, so it doesn’t change much for its air filtration system. The filtration on the Vital Pet Pro is excellent, as good as you’d hope to find on a purpose-built pet air purifier. It’s effective, layered, and odor-focused, especially with the Activated carbon layer doing genuine work on TVOC compounds.

For performance, the Levoit Vital Pet Pro is decent, though we all know that Levoit did better with the Levoit Core 400S. It is a sacrifice to have those pet features, but as you can see, the Levoit Vital Pet Pro will still capture 99.6% of all particles down to 0.3 microns, in just 1 hour, just 1 tier below the Core 400S.

The Vital Pet series uses a dedicated replacement filter that is advertised to contain up to 140 grams of activated carbon. This filter is slightly more expensive than the standard version, and with a recommended replacement interval of every 6 to 8 months, it can noticeably increase the annual filter cost.

Levoit Vital Pet Pro Room Coverage

The Levoit Vital Pet Pro has been tested and certified by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers, earning an AHAM-verified coverage rating for rooms up to 229 square feet. This provides a reliable, independently verified benchmark for its real-world performance.

The ACH of the Levoit Vital Pet Pro is 5X. In the suggested room size, the air purifier can clean your room up to 5 times per hour.

The CADR of the Levoit Vital Pet Pro is 152 Dust/ 148 Smoke/ 163 Pollen (cfm).

Levoit Vital Pet Pro Sound

The Levoit Vital Pet Pro appears to use the same internal fan system and acoustic design as the base Levoit Vital Pet, and its lowest noise level is similarly rated at 21 decibels (dB). That’s roughly equivalent to the sound of rustling leaves, meaning you likely won’t even notice the air purifier running at its lowest fan speed.

Its highest speed is also similar, capping at 53 decibels.

Levoit Vital Pet Pro Power Consumption

A good air purifier is designed to run for a long time to be more efficient, making the high-priority question in Breathe Quality: “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” To know the answer, we will need to check the power consumption of this air purifier.

The Levoit Vital Pet Pro has a rated power consumption of 39 watts, making it slightly more efficient than the base Vital Pet. However, despite its relatively low power draw, the Levoit Vital Pet Pro is not Energy Star certified.

If you run the Levoit Vital Pet Pro at least for 8 hours per day, it would cost you $17.6 annually.

Levoit Vital Pet Pro Additional Features

If you’ve never observed the Auto-Clean mechanism in action, you really need to watch it run. Did you know the scraper cycles on a schedule? There’s no pressing a button for it. It could just sit idle between filter checks, but instead the Auto-Clean runs automatically and deposits collected fur into the removable tray – which is extremely satisfying.

Oh, the scraper also runs on a VeSync-adjustable schedule with maintenance reminders pushed to your phone, but Levoit hasn’t neglected the simple daily-clean default. Talking about the VeSync app, it seems Levoit is doing great at building its Wi-Fi capability on all new air purifiers.

The Levoit Vital Pet Pro uses dual TVOC + PM2.5 sensor, which is not a surprise, given most older units came with the AirSight sensor. It activates the Auto mode, which is necessary to keep airborne pollutants low.

Finally, the Levoit Vital Pet Pro has a Child lock setting, and LED indicator for filter replacement.

Levoit is a brand that strongly focuses on its customers and community. If you buy one of its products, you will receive everything you need to set it up and run it. Negative customer service reviews are almost nonexistent.

There is only one thing: it gives a basic 1-year warranty. To get an additional 1-year warranty, you need to have some free registration. It is easy, and everyone is willing to sign up for another year of warranty. It seems newer products are getting a 2-year warranty by default.
