The Honeywell HPA250B is the sort of air purifier that has me questioning why the vast majority of people should buy a flagship device. After all, when a $249 device ticks almost all of the right boxes, why pay more? Let’s see the Honeywell HPA250B Review to know why.

Honeywell is a Fortune 100 company, which explains most of its popularity. Its air purifiers are well-known for powerful fan and high-quality air filter. The company is also one of the few American device makers to enjoy a rise in popularity outside its home country. So are you ready? Here is your Honeywell HPA250B Review.
Other Honeywell’s Air Purifier Reviews:
Honeywell HPA250B Price
For the first time, Honeywell has more convincingly brought the high-quality flagship DNA down to the low range. This Honeywell HPA250B has exactly the same air filtration and performance as the HPA200, but also adds some precious functions to make the Honeywell HPA250B the first non-flagship air purifier from the American brand that’s easy to recommend.
To demonstrate its western ambitions, Amazon has made it easier than ever to purchase a Honeywell HPA250B. This air purifier starts at $249, just like the Honeywell HPA300. For the price, you can trade off between the better fan power to some handy smart features. Honeywell also strikes the market with another $229 Honeywell AirGenius 5, to further confuse the customers. We’d better not ask why the American companies keep producing air purifiers with the same design, which is true not only of Honeywell but also of Guardian Technologies, Airpura, Austin Air and so on.
Again, it’s your call. Especially when our deal can get you as low as $219.
If you want a less expensive smart air purifier, consider the Levoit Core 400S or the GermGuardian CDAP5500BCA. However, both of these air purifiers can only cover a much smaller room compared with the Honeywell HPA250B. A real deal for this range, which we must include, is the Blue Pure 211. Needless to say, it can cover a large room far better than the Honeywell HPA250B.
Do you have faith in the Honeywell HPA250B? You can get this deal right now.

Honeywell HPA250B Design and Size
Honeywell HPA250B has only one black edition, not like the non-smart version, HPA200.
Place this air purifier next to any other HPA models, and you’d be hard-pushed to immediately tell the difference between the two. The Honeywell HPA250 is the same size as the HPA200, with a height of 18.86 inches and a width of 17.7 inches. There are two handles on top to help you move it easily.
The Honeywell HPA250B retains its classic design, with an iconic air intake grill covering the entire body. This design is mostly used to maximize the fan power. Also, on top of this air purifier, you will have the classic air outlet grill.
There is only one slight change: the Honeywell HPA250B uses a brand new control panel with two new LED indicators for Smart Sensor and Bluetooth connectivity. This control panel has a different order of buttons compared with the previous HPA200. Personally, I don’t like this new control panel. It is complicated, and without the manual, there is no way I could know how to change the fan speed.
Honeywell HPA250B is still only 14 lbs, which is a lot lighter than HPA300. If you want to find a smaller air purifier from this brand, you need to check the Honeywell HPA100 (7.8 lbs) or Honeywell HPA060 (6.4 lbs).

Honeywell HPA250B Filters
As one of the best True HEPA air purifiers from a well-known brand, Honeywell HPA250B runs a typical Honeywell HPA model’s 2-stage air filtration system as below.
- Pre-filter – The pre-filter has an Activated Carbon filter in it. This will both help absorb VOCs, gases, and odors and trap larger particles. You will need to replace this filter after 3 months of usage.
- True HEPA filter – The Honeywell HPA250B employs a dedicated True HEPA filter to capture up to 99.97% of contaminant particles down to 0.3 microns, like pet dander, mold, viruses, bacteria, and pollen.
Keeping the Honeywell HPA250B chugging along is a real-deal True HEPA filter. Moreover, this air purifier run the same air filter as the Honeywell HPA300, but it requires only 2 air filters. With a much weaker fan, the Honeywell HPA250B can’t clean as quickly as its brother.
We all know how well the Honeywell HPA200 can do, but for an extra $40, it is reasonable to expect more from the Honeywell HPA250B. So unlike the HPA200, I put the more expensive Honeywell AirGenius 5 and Blueair Sense+ to a performance test. Keeping the same conditions, like a 200-sq-ft room and 1 hour of running, the Honeywell HPA250B has a really great efficiency of 99.92% against all particles that are as small as 0.3 microns. Having the same smart features, the Blueair Sense+ can only deal with 99.9%. The Honeywell HFD320 is the weakest of the three, with only 92%.
The Honeywell HPA250B is an excellent value for money in terms of performance. If you can afford a high-range smart air purifier from Honeywell, I suggest you have a look at the Honeywell HPA600B now. This HPA600B makes use of the latest HRF-Z2 to deal with the allergens, and can remove even the 0.005 microns viruses.
Also, you can use the previous HRF-R2 air filter for this Honeywell HPA250B, which is $49 for 2 air filters and needs to be replaced after 1 year of use. Compared with the $79 cost of Blueair Sense+‘s air filter, the Honeywell HPA250B is a more practical option.

Honeywell HPA250B Room Coverage
Honeywell HPA250B is designed for a large room of 310 square feet. As the medium air purifier of this company, the Honeywell HPA250B has the average room coverage between the Honeywell HPA100 and HPA300. Again, you have a more practical option than the 186 square feet from Blueair Sense+ or the 250 square feet from Honeywell AirGenius 5 HFD320.
The ACH of Honeywell HPA250B is 5x. With this high air changes per hour rating, the Honeywell HPA250B can clean your room every 12 minutes.
The CADR of Honeywell HPA250B is 234 Dust/ 220 Smoke/ 249 Pollen (cfm). The CADR rating is much lower than Honeywell HPA300, but it is still better than lots of air purifiers in the same price range, like the Levoit LV-PUR131 or GermGuardian CDAP5500BCA.

Honeywell HPA250B Sound
The Honeywell HPA250B, as is customary, is not an air purifier for quiet environments such as the office or bedroom. With such a powerful fan, this air purifier can clean a large area while making a lot of noise.
However, if you can keep the air purifier in the lowest setting, which is easy thanks to the Smart Sensor, Honeywell HPA250B is truly quiet. So if you are planning to purchase one air purifier in your office or when you sleep, we believe that the Honeywell HPA250B is suitable for you.

Honeywell HPA250B Power Consumption
One of our most FAQs is, “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” This is because we need to run an air purifier for an extended period of time, and power consumption is something to consider.
Just like the previous HPA200, the Honeywell HPA250B can keep the power consumption around 87 watts at the highest setting. The power consumption is higher than any other energy-saving devices like the Rabbit Air BioGS 2.0 or Levoit LV-PUR131, despite being an Energy Star air purifier.
For using a Honeywell HPA250B for 8 hours per day, it would cost you up to $30 per year. This is not too high to pay for, but if you don’t like the cost, you can still opt in for the others I mentioned above.

Honeywell HPA250B Additional Features
The most anticipated feature of this Honeywell HPA250B is the Wi-Fi connectivity. A Bluetooth Smart v4.0 compatible iPhone or Android device can easily control this air purifier. Within 30 feet of the Bluetooth Smart device, you can control your air purifier from another room in your house. The app also offers additional features not available on any standard air purifiers, such as proximity sensing for auto shut-off and turn-on, air quality alerts, and auto-operation based on conditions in your zip code and operation scheduling.
This brand new Bluetooth-enabled feature comes along with a decent air sensor to automatically detect the air quality and change the fan speed to clean your home air. This Smart Sensor is necessary to reduce both the noise level and the power consumption of the Honeywell HPA250B.
Other than that, the Honeywell HPA250B still has the classic dimmer to help dim the light and a timer to automatically turn off your air purifier. Finally, you have two filter status indicators to remind you when to change the air filter.
Honeywell HPA250B Customer Service
Honeywell is a market leader in air purifiers, but its customer service is not as friendly as that of competitors. You can reach customer service via the mailbox at the Honeywell Store at 407 N. Quentin Road, Palatine, Illinois. But I suggest you call 847-701-3038 for any support questions. Or you can email email@example.com for any problems you experience while on the site or after buying a product. Honeywell is available from Monday to Friday.
It doesn’t have free shipping like Rabbit Air or Alen, and you must notify customer service within one business day of any problems with a third-party shipping service like USPS or FedEx. Otherwise, it will not accept liability for any merchandise damage during transit. Also, the shipment can take up to 10 business days from the date that the order is shipped.
The hardest part is when you want to return one Honeywell air purifier, as you only have 30 days from the date you receive your item to process your return. If there is no transit damage or workmanship defects, you won’t receive the shipping charge (on both the original shipping charge and the return shipping charge) and will have to pay a 10–30% re-stocking fee.
Honeywell’s warranty policy is also among the longest in the industry, with up to 5 years of coverage.
Honeywell HPA250B is a good smart air purifier under $300. While this air purifier is still powerful, the app is mostly outdated and cannot compare with others in the same price range, just like Levoit Core 600S.
