The Honeywell HPA250B is the sort of air purifier that has me questioning why the vast majority of people should buy a flagship device. After all, when a $249 device ticks almost all of the right boxes, why pay more? Let’s see the Honeywell HPA250B Review to know why.
Honeywell’s latest air purifier flagship is HPA600B.
In Breathe Quality, we have reviewed all air purifiers under these sections. Also, we guarantee that:
- We do give honest reviews (both pros and cons) so anyone will guarantee to have the wisest choices.
- We do not (and never) exaggerate one product just to let you click the links and buy that product blindly.
- Stable and powerful performance
- Lots of fan power
- Great Smart features for the price
- 5-year warranty
- Quite noisy
- High cost of filter replacement
Honeywell is a Fortune 100 company, which explained most of their popularity. Their air purifiers are well-known for their powerful fan and high-quality air filter. The company is also one of the few American device makers to enjoy a rise in popularity outside its home country. So are you ready? Here are your Honeywell HPA250B Review.
Other Honeywell’s Air Purifier Reviews:
Honeywell HPA250B Price
For the first time, Honeywell has more convincingly brought the high-quality flagship DNA down to the low-range. This Honeywell HPA250B has exactly the same air filtration and performance as the HPA200, but also adds some precious functions to make the Honeywell HPA250B the first non-flagship air purifier from the American brand that’s easy to recommend.
To make its occidental ambitions clear, it’s now easier than ever to pick up a Honeywell HPA250B, with Amazon on your hand. This air purifiers starts at $249, just the same as Honeywell HPA300. For the price, you can trade off between the better fan power to some handy smart features. Honeywell also strikes the market with another $229 Honeywell AirGenius 5, to further confuse the customers. We’d better don’t ask why the American companies keep repeating the air purifiers with same design, which is not only in Honeywell, but also in Guardian Technologies, Airpura, Austin Air and so on.
Again, it’s your call.
If you want other smart air purifier with lower price, you should check for the Blueair Sense+ or GermGuardian CDAP5500BCA. However, both of these air purifiers can only cover a much smaller room compared with the Honeywell HPA250B. A real deal for this range which we must include in is the Blue Pure 211. Needless to say, it can cover a large room far better than the Honeywell HPA250B.
Put faith in the Honeywell HPA250B? You can grab this below deal right now.

Honeywell HPA250B Design and Size
Honeywell HPA250B has only one Black edition, not like the non-smart version – HPA200.
Place this air purifier next to any other HPA models and you’d be hard-pushed to immediately tell the difference between the two. With an exact same size with HPA200, Honeywell HPA250 tends to have a 18.86 inches in height and 17.7 inches in width. There are two handles on top to help you move it easily.
Honeywell HPA250B keeps the same classic design, with a iconic air intake grill covered the whole body. This design is mostly used to maximize the fan power. Also, on top of this air purifier, you will have the classic air outlet grill.
Only one slight change, Honeywell HPA250B uses a brand new control panel, with two new LED indicators for Smart Sensor and Bluetooth connectivity. This control panel has a different order of buttons compared with the previous HPA200. Personally, I don’t like this new control panel. It is complicated and without the manual, there is no way I can know how to change the fan speed.
Honeywell HPA250B is still only 14 lbs, which is a lot lighter than HPA300. If you want to find a smaller air purifier from this brand, you need to check Honeywell HPA100 (7.8 lbs) or Honeywell HPA060 (6.4 lbs).

Honeywell HPA250B Filters
As one of the best True HEPA air purifiers from a well-known brand, Honeywell HPA250B runs a typical Honeywell HPA model’s 2-stage air filtration system as below.
- Pre-filter – The pre-filter has Activated Carbon filter in it. This will both help absorbs VOCs, gases, odors and traps larger particles. You will need to replace this filter after 3 months of usage.
- True HEPA filter – The Honeywell HPA250B employs a dedicated True HEPA filter to capture up to 99.97% of down to 0.3 microns contaminant particles like pet dander, mold, viruses, bacteria and pollen.
Keeping the Honeywell HPA250B chugging along is a real deal True HEPA filter. Moreover, this air purifier can run the same HRF-R3 air filter from Honeywell HPA300, with a slightly better performance over its predecessor. However, with a much weaker fan, Honeywell HPA250B can’t clean as quick as its brother.
We all know how well the Honeywell HPA200 can do, but for an extra of $40, it is reasonable to expect more from the Honeywell HPA250B. So unlike the HPA200, I put the more expensive Honeywell AirGenius 5 and Blueair Sense+ to a performance test. Keeping the same conditions like 150-sq-ft room and 1 hour running, the Honeywell HPA250B has a really great efficiency of 99.95% against all particle that is as small as 0.3 microns. Having the same Smart features, the Blueair Sense+ can only deal with 99.92%. The Honeywell HFD320 is the weakest among the three, with only 95%.
For the performance, there is no doubt that the Honeywell HPA250B is a good deal for the price. If you can afford a high-range smart air purifier from Honeywell, I suggest you have a look for Honeywell HPA600B now. This HPA600B makes use of the latest HRF-Z2 to deal with the allergens, and can remove even the 0.005 microns viruses.
Also, you can use the previous HRF-R2 air filter for this Honeywell HPA250B, which is $49 for 2 packs, and need to be replaced after 1 year of using. Compared with the $79 cost of Blueair Sense+‘s air filter, Honeywell HPA250B is a more practical option.

Honeywell HPA250B Room Coverage
Honeywell HPA250B is designed for a large room of 310 square feet. As the medium air purifier of this company, the Honeywell HPA250B has the average room coverage between the Honeywell HPA100 and HPA300. Again, you have a more practical option than the only 186 square feet from Blueair Sense+ or 250 square feet from Honeywell AirGenius 5 HFD320.
The ACH of Honeywell HPA250B is 5x. With this high air changes per hour rating, Honeywell HPA250B can clean your room every 12 minutes.
The CADR of Honeywell HPA250B is 190 Dust/ 200 Smoke/ 180 Pollen (cfm). The CADR rating is much lower than Honeywell HPA300, but is still better than lots of air purifiers in the same price range, like Levoit LV-PUR131 or GermGuardian CDAP5500BCA.

Honeywell HPA250B Sound
As a tradition, Honeywell HPA250B is not an air purifier for quiet places, like the office or bedroom. With such high capability of fan power, this air purifier can clean a huge space of area, but also with much noise.
However, if you can keep the air purifier in the lowest setting, which is easy thanks to the Smart sensor, Honeywell HPA250B is truly quiet. So if you are planning to purchase one air purifier in your office or when you sleep, we believe that the Honeywell HPA250B is suitable for you.

Honeywell HPA250B Power Consumption
One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” because we need to run an air purifier for a constant long time, and power consumption is really a thing to consider.
Just like the previous HPA200, the Honeywell HPA250B can keep the power consumption around 84 watts at the highest setting. The power consumption is higher than any other energy-saving devices like Rabbit Air BioGS 2.0 or Levoit LV-PUR131.
For using a Honeywell HPA250B 8 hours per day, it would cost you up to $30 per year. This is not too high to pay for, but if you don’t like the cost, you can still opt-in for others I mentioned above.

Honeywell HPA250B Additional Features
The most anticipated feature from this Honeywell HPA250B is the Wifi connectivity. This air purifier can easily be controlled via a Bluetooth Smart v4.0 compatible iPhone or Android device. You can operate your air purifier from another room in your home within 30 feet of the Bluetooth Smart device. The App also offers additional features not available on any standard air purifiers, such as proximity sensing for auto shut-off/turn on, air quality alerts and auto-operation based on conditions in your zip code and operation scheduling.
This brand new Bluetooth enabled feature comes along with a decent air sensor, to automatically detect the air quality and change the fan speed to clean your home air. This Smart Sensor is necessary to reduce both the noise level and the power consumption of the Honeywell HPA250B.
Other than that, Honeywell HPA250B still has the classic Dimmer to help dim the light and a Timer to auto turn off your air purifier. Finally, you are having 2 filter status indicators to remind you when to change the air filter.

Honeywell HPA250B Customer Service
Honeywell is a leading brand in air purifier market, but they don’t offer a friendly customer service as others. You can reach them via mailbox of Honeywell Store in 407 N. Quentin Road, Palatine, Illinois. But I suggest you should call them at 847-701-3038 for any support questions. Or you can email to email@example.com for any problems you experience while on the site or after buying a product. Honeywell is available from Monday to Friday.
They don’t have Free Shipping like Rabbit Air or Alen, and you must notify them within one business day for any problems with third-party shipping service like USPS or FedEx. Otherwise, they won’t take responsibility for any merchandise damage in transit. Also, the shipment can take up to 10 business days from the date that the order is shipped.
The hardest part is when you want to return one Honeywell air purifier, as you only have 30 days from the date you receive your item to process your return. You won’t receive the shipping charge (on both the original shipping charge and the return shipping charge) and must pay a 10-30% re-stocking fee if there is no damage caused by transit or workmanship defects.
The warranty policy of Honeywell is also among the longest to guarantee against all defects, with up to 5 years warranty.
Honeywell HPA250B is a powerful Smart air purifier under $300. While this air purifier is still powerful, the app is mostly outdated and can not compare with others in the same price range, just like Blueair Sense+.
