Sitting behind the high-range flagship Honeywell HPA600B, the tower Honeywell HFD360B is exactly the mid-range air purifier that Honeywell deserves. However, thanks to a very long line of low-range devices behind, this air purifier might seem like the least interesting. Together with Breathe Quality, let’s check our Honeywell HFD360B Review to see if it is worth to be the 2019 flagship of Honeywell mid-range or not.
In Breathe Quality, we have reviewed all air purifiers under these sections. Also, we guarantee that:
- We do give honest reviews (both pros and cons) so anyone will guarantee to have the wisest choices.
- We do not (and never) exaggerate one product just to let you click the links and buy that product blindly.
- Fantastic performance with 6 fan speeds
- Lots of modern Smart features
- Washable pre-filter
- 5-year warranty
- Low CADR rating
- Low fan power for the price
Honeywell is a Fortune 100 company, which explained most of their popularity. This American brand has more than 25 years of experience in air purifier industry, with more than 30 inventions in hand. Their air purifiers are mostly notable for high fan power and high-quality air filters. Honeywell HFD360B (or Honeywell AirGenius 6) is the last puzzle of HFD Model in 2019 to compete in mid-range segment. So, it’s time to check our Honeywell HFD360B Review.
Other Honeywell’s Air Purifier Reviews:
Honeywell HFD360B Price
The Honeywell HFD360B had just been released last year, to complete the collection of HFD Models after the debut of the trio HFD300, HFD310 and HFD320 long time ago. Honeywell HFD360B rights many of the wrongs caused by the previous predecessors and, while it’s still far from perfect, it’s probably the best HFD air purifier currently on the market.
Honeywell uses a lot of buzzwords when talking about the AirGenius 6 Cleaning, but most of the time it’s marketing drivel so I’m not going to bore you with it. All you need to know is the performance of this Honeywell HFD360B still stays the same with Honeywell HFD320, but with lots of necessary Smart features. And that how it will cost you more than $100, for the original starting price is around $449, and reduces to only $349 if you follow our below deal.
With that price, the biggest competitors to the Honeywell HFD360B are the Blueair Classic 205 (with lots of Smart features, too) and the Rabbit Air BioGS 2.0 with a better looking appearance. If you don’t need smart features, just only care about the performance, you can select Levoit LV-H133 and especially, Blue Pure 121. These air purifiers are perfect for at least twice the fan power of our today Honeywell HFD360B, within the same price range.

Honeywell HFD360B Design and Size
Honeywell clearly believes it’s on to a winner with the overall look of the HFD series, because their air purifiers’ designs have barely changed at all over the past many years. I would have liked to see a bit of a refresh this time around, but there’s no doubting that Honeywell has made a sleek smart air purifier. The premium Black color and the gentle accent light at the bottom blend seamlessly into the solid build of this tower air purifier.
This time around, Honeywell still uses the same appearance, with 27-inch in height and a back-to-front air flow design language. Actually, I don’t have any issues with this language, but when there are too many air purifiers with a same design, why produce more? That’s why we need a Rabbit Air BioGS 2.0 in our lives, because the manufacturer dare to bring the new thing.
Again, the only difference this air purifier could show off is the top control panel. With a modern digital control panel, this Honeywell HFD360B could be the choice of many users. Okay, I must confess that I don’t know.
This Honeywell HFD360B weighs only 13 lbs, and just as heavy as a cat. You can move this air purifier easily anywhere in your home.

Honeywell HFD360B Filters
Not just the appearance, the core inside this Honeywell HFD360B is staying the same as the predecessors. It was powered by a common 2-stage air filtration system with the heart of the ifD air filter.
- Pre-filter – Honeywell HFD360B uses a normal pre-filter. This pre-filter can capture larger particles before they enter the ifD filter. Also, the pre-filter is washable, and therefore, permanent.
- ifD filter – The Honeywell HFD360B uses an unique ifD filter to capture up to 99.9% of down to 0.3 microns contaminant particles like pet dander, mold, viruses, bacteria and pollen. This air filter adds an Activated Carbon filter to help deodorize the air and reduce the odors.
Honeywell stated clearly in their website that the ifD filter – HRF-K2 will be used even from the Honeywell HFD-120-Q. So whatever is good still remains, but also the bad. The unique ifD air filter, which stands for Intense Field Dielectric, is indeed an ionic air filter. This performance rating is just only 99.9% of as small as 0.3 microns particles, which is slightly less than the True HEPA filter, just like Honeywell HPA250B or HPA600B. However, I believe the filtration technology is still one of the best at the moment.
But the downside is the nature of being an ionic air filter, which can irritate asthma and other breathing issues. For people with serious asthma, once again you need to say goodbye with this Honeywell HFD360B, because there is still no on/off button for the ionic feature on this air purifier. Sad, but true.
However, thanks to the ifD technology, the air filter HRF-K2 is permanent and can be easily washed or cleaned. This technology will reduce the inevitable annual filter cost from other True HEPA devices. Moreover, the filter cost is only $17, which is truly the most affordable in mid-range segment.

Honeywell HFD360B Room Coverage
Running the same fan power as HFD320, Honeywell HFD360B can only cover a room of 260 sq ft. If you compare to other air purifiers in the same price range, like Rabbit Air BioGS 2.0 (625 sq ft), Levoit LV-H133 (538 sq ft) and Blue Pure 121 (620 sq ft), how can Honeywell HFD360B compete with them?
The ACH of Honeywell HFD360B is 5x. Honeywell really commits at making a high ACH rating fan power, to let their air purifiers clean your room every 12 minutes.
The CADR of Honeywell HFD320 is 166 Dust/ 169 Smoke/ 149 Pollen (cfm). With a similar CADR rating as the HFD320, Honeywell HFD360B should only be used for a medium room. If you are searching for a large room air purifier, you should follow our below link.

Honeywell HFD360B Sound
The ifD air filter has one advantage over the True HEPA filter, the silence of its fan. With this ionic technology, you don’t need a dense structure like the HEPA air filter to trap the pollutant particles. Also, thanks to the lower fan power, Honeywell HFD360B is mostly quiet in general.
With 6 fan speeds, the Honeywell HFD360B is the quietest air purifier I’ve ever tested. Honeywell HFD360B is a must-have air purifier in any quiet places, such as your office or bedroom.

Honeywell HFD360B Power Consumption
A good air purifier must be used for a long time to be efficient, that’s why there are many questions of “Do air purifier use a lot of energy?”. We can all agree that power consumption is one important criteria to review if this air purifier is worth your money or not.
Honeywell HFD360B uses 46W on the highest setting, which is a little bit higher than other air purifiers in HFD family. If you really care about the energy consumption, you should research both the Rabbit Air BioGS 2.0 and the Levoit LV-H133. They are the best air purifiers for energy saving in 2019. But again, the Honeywell HFD360B is still really good at saving your electric bill.
For using a Honeywell HFD360B 8 hours per day, it would only cost you up to $17 per year.
Honeywell HFD360B Additional Features
Additional features are the most competitive edge Honeywell describes for their Honeywell HFD360B, and though I am excited, I must admit that the you can find all (or even more) these functions in a $200 Blueair Sense +.
With the core of the Honeywell app (which is available on both Android and iOS), you can control this air purifier everywhere. The app works great with lots of necessary features like Allergen alert or Custom Schedules. Also, from the previous HFD320, the Honeywell HFD360B features both Air sensor (to detect the current air quality) and a Proximity sensor (to detect if you are in or out of Bluetooth smart range). These Smart features are necessary to help you reduce the fan speed or eventually turn off the device, and save the energy better.
Just like the predecessors, you will welcome the common features of Honeywell HFD360B like an oscillation function button to help move the air forth and back, or an Advanced Timer to auto turn off the air purifier after up to 18 hours. And don’t forget the unique Accent Light function, to help dimmer the light of this Honeywell HFD360B for you, which is helpful when you are sleeping.
If you are looking for a Smart flagship air purifier of Honeywell, you can also search for Honeywell HPA 600B.
Finally, we will have a LED indicator to know the filter status. It is really necessary because we don’t want to remember the date manually.
Honeywell HFD360B Customer Service
Honeywell is a leading brand in air purifier market, with one of the best customer services we could have. They provide a good help desk as well as 14 hours per day and 7 days per week live chat. The warranty policy of Honeywell is also among the longest to guarantee against all defects, with up to 5 years warranty.
The AirGenius 6, or Honeywell HFD360B is truly a good Smart air purifier in the mid-range segment. However, there is no huge jump in air filtration process, and that criteria still matters the most.
- Cleaning Power
- Power Consumption
Honeywell HFD360B is the HFD flagship of Honeywell, with progressive additional features. However, there is still a long way for Honeywell to battle with other best air purifiers in mid-range segment.
