However, thanks to a very long line of low-range devices behind it, this air purifier might seem like the least interesting. Its air purifiers are mostly notable for high fan power and high-quality air filters. Honeywell HFD360B (or Honeywell AirGenius 6) is the last HFD model to compete in the mid-range segment. Honeywell AirGenius 6 HFD360B Price

The Honeywell AirGenius 6 HFD360B had just been released last year, to complete the collection of HFD Models after the debut of the trio HFD300, HFD310 and HFD320 long time ago. Honeywell AirGenius 6 HFD360B righted many of the wrongs caused by its predecessors, and while it’s still far from perfect, it’s probably the best HFD air purifier currently on the market.

Honeywell uses a lot of buzzwords when talking about the AirGenius 6 Cleaning, but most of the time it’s marketing drivel, so I’m not going to bore you with it. All you need to know is that the Honeywell AirGenius 6 HFD360B has the same performance as the Honeywell AirGenius 5, but with a slew of new Smart features. And that is how it will cost you more than $100, because the original starting price is around $449, which is reduced to only $299 if you follow our deal below.

With that price, the two biggest competitors to the Honeywell AirGenius 6 HFD360B are the Blueair Classic 205 (with lots of Smart features, too) and the Rabbit Air BioGS 2.0, which has a better-looking appearance. If you don’t need smart features and only care about performance, you can select Levoit LV-H133 and especially Blue Pure 121. These air purifiers are perfect for at least twice the fan power of our Honeywell AirGenius 6 HFD360B, within the same price range.

We also notice the presence of the Dyson Pure Cool Tower and Dyson Pure Cool Link Desk in the same price range. These air purifiers, besides the True HEPA filter, are having an amazing cooling fan power to help you survive the summer time. The Dyson Pure Hot+Cool, with a little bit higher cost, will come with the heating power as well.

Honeywell AirGenius 6 HFD360B Design and Size

Honeywell clearly believes it’s onto something with the overall look of the HFD series, because the designs of its air purifiers have barely changed at all over the past many years. I would have liked to see a bit of a refresh this time around, but there’s no doubting that Honeywell has made a sleek, smart air purifier. The premium black color and the gentle accent light at the bottom blend seamlessly into the solid build of this tower air purifier.

This time around, Honeywell still uses the same appearance, with a 27-inch height and a back-to-front airflow design language. Actually, I don’t have any issues with this language, but when there are too many air purifiers with the same design, why produce more? That’s why we need a Rabbit Air BioGS 2.0 in our lives, because the manufacturer dare to bring the new thing.

Again, the only difference this air purifier could show off is the top control panel. With a modern digital control panel, this Honeywell AirGenius 6 could be the choice of many users. Okay, I must confess that I don’t know.

Honeywell AirGenius 6 HFD360B Filters

Not just the appearance, but the core inside this Honeywell AirGenius 6 is staying the same as its predecessors. It was powered by a common, two-stage air filtration system that included the ifD air filter as its heart.

1. Pre-filter – Honeywell AirGenius 6 uses a normal pre-filter. This pre-filter can capture larger particles before they enter the ifD filter. Also, the pre-filter is washable and therefore permanent.
2. ifD filter – The Honeywell AirGenius 6 employs an innovative ifD filter to capture up to 99.9% of contaminant particles as small as 0.3 microns, such as pet dander, mold, viruses, bacteria, and pollen. This air filter adds an Activated Carbon filter to help deodorize the air and reduce odors.

According to Honeywell’s website, the ifD filter (HRF-K2) will be used even with the Honeywell HFD-120-Q. So whatever is good still remains, but so does the bad. The unique ifD air filter, which stands for Intense Field Dielectric, is indeed an ionic air filter. This performance rating is only 99.9% of as small as 0.3 microns of particles, which is slightly less than the True HEPA filter, just like the Honeywell HPA250B or HPA600B. However, I believe the filtration technology is still one of the best at the moment.

But the downside is the nature of being an ionic air filter, which can irritate asthma and other breathing issues. For people with serious asthma, once again you need to say goodbye to this Honeywell AirGenius 6, because there is still no on/off button for the ionic feature on this air purifier. Sad, but true.

However, thanks to ifD technology, the HRF-K2 air filter is permanent and easily washed or cleaned. This technology will reduce the inevitable annual filter cost of other True HEPA devices. Moreover, the filter cost is only $17, which is truly the most affordable in the mid-range segment.

Honeywell AirGenius 6 HFD360B Room Coverage

With the same fan power as the AirGenius 5, the Honeywell AirGenius 6 can only cover a 260-square-foot room. If you compare it to other air purifiers in the same price range, like the Rabbit Air BioGS 2.0 (625 square feet), Levoit LV-H133 (538 square feet), and Blue Pure 121 (620 square feet), how can the Honeywell HFD360B compete with them?

The ACH of Honeywell AirGenius 6 is 5x. Honeywell is serious about producing fans with a high ACH rating so that its air purifiers can clean your room every 12 minutes.

The CADR of Honeywell AirGenius 6 is 166 Dust/ 169 Smoke/ 149 Pollen (cfm). With a similar CADR rating as the HFD320, the Honeywell AirGenius 6 should only be used in a medium room.

Honeywell AirGenius 6 HFD360B Sound

The ifD air filter has one advantage over the True HEPA filter: the silence of its fan. With this ionic technology, you don’t need a dense structure like the HEPA air filter to trap the pollutant particles. Also, thanks to the lower fan power, the Honeywell AirGenius 6 is mostly quiet in general.

With six fan speeds, the Honeywell AirGenius 6 is the quietest air purifier I’ve ever tested. Honeywell AirGenius 6 is a must-have air purifier in any quiet place, such as your office or bedroom.

Honeywell AirGenius 6 HFD360B Power Consumption

A good air purifier must be used for a long time to be efficient, which is why many people ask, “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” We can all agree that power consumption is one important criterion to review to determine if this air purifier is worth your money or not.

Honeywell AirGenius 6 uses 42 watts at the highest setting, which is a little bit more than other air purifiers in the HFD family. If you really care about energy consumption, you should research both the Rabbit Air BioGS 2.0 and the Levoit LV-H133. They are the best air purifiers for energy savings you can get at the moment. But again, the Honeywell AirGenius 6 is still really good at saving your electricity bill and is an Energy Star air purifier.

It would only cost you up to $17 per year to use a Honeywell AirGenius for 6 to 8 hours per day.

Honeywell AirGenius 6 HFD360B Additional Features

Additional features are the most competitive edge Honeywell describes for its Honeywell AirGenius 6, and though I am excited, I must admit that you can find all (or even more) of these functions in a $200 Blueair Sense+.

With the Honeywell app (which is available on both Android and iOS), you can control this air purifier everywhere. The app works great and has lots of necessary features like allergen alerts or custom schedules. Also, unlike the previous HFD320, the Honeywell AirGenius 6 features both an air sensor (to detect the current air quality) and a proximity sensor (to detect if you are in or out of Bluetooth smart range). These smart features are necessary to help you reduce the fan speed or eventually turn off the device and save energy.

Just like its predecessors, you will welcome the common features of Honeywell AirGenius 6 like an oscillation function button to help move the air forth and back or an advanced timer to auto-turn off the air purifier after up to 18 hours. And don’t forget the unique Accent Light function to help dimmer the light of this Honeywell AirGenius 6 for you, which is helpful when you are sleeping.

Finally, we will have an LED indicator to show the status of the filter. It is really necessary because we don’t want to remember the date manually.

Honeywell is a market leader in air purifiers, but its customer service is not as friendly as that of competitors. You can reach customer service via the mailbox at the Honeywell Store at 407 N. Quentin Road, Palatine, Illinois. But I suggest you call 847-701-3038 for any support questions. Or you can email sales@honeywellstore.com for any problems you experience while on the site or after buying a product. Honeywell is available from Monday to Friday.

It doesn’t have free shipping like Rabbit Air or Alen, and you must notify customer service within one business day of any problems with a third-party shipping service like USPS or FedEx. Otherwise, it will not accept liability for any merchandise damage during transit. Also, the shipment can take up to 10 business days from the date that the order is shipped.

The hardest part is when you want to return one Honeywell air purifier, as you only have 30 days from the date you receive your item to process your return. If there is no transit damage or workmanship defects, you won’t receive the shipping charge (on both the original shipping charge and the return shipping charge) and will have to pay a 10–30% re-stocking fee.

Honeywell’s warranty policy is also among the longest in the industry, with up to 5 years of coverage.

Our verdict

The Honeywell AirGenius 6 is truly a good air purifier in the mid-range segment, with the concept of a permanent filter. However, there is no huge jump in the air filtration process, and that criteria still matters the most. Also, the performance is a bit behind the competition.
