Airpura C600 Design and Size

Airpura C600 Filters

The Airpura C600 has a 3-inch deep Activated Carbon filter, which is 3 times better than the Oransi EJ120. Moreover, it weighs 26 lbs, and contains at least 9 times the amount of carbon than normal air filter. As a result, this filter can last for 2 years.

On the subject of the air filter, yes, these numbers prove the undeniable power of the Airpura C600 against any types of chemicals, smoke, gases and odors. It is high-quality, too. The Activated Carbon filter is made 100% of coconut shell, which is more eco-friendly than any ABS carbon filter in the market.

You can also upgrade the Activated Carbon filter to have potassium iodide (to enhance the chemical adsorption) or to have potassium permanganate (to enhance the gases adsorption). If you upgrade with air filter, it will cost you exactly like buying a fresh Airpura C600 DLX or Airpura T600 DLX.

For the Airpura C600 DLX, you will have an enhanced carbon bed with 17% potassium iodide and can address long-term chemical emissions such as the toxic Chinese drywall. The potassium iodide can accelerate the binding of chemicals and hydrogen sulfide gases much faster. This is one of the best Activated carbon filters in the world, only behind the performance of AllerAir 5000 or AllerAir 6000.

The purpose of the Airpura C600 is mostly for dealing with chemicals, gases and odors. That’s why this company only put the HEPA filter with the efficiency of 95% for any particles as small as 1 micron.

With this technical specs, it is really difficult to test the performance of this Airpura C600. Given the normal test, it will lose to any other True HEPA air purifiers. But to add the enough amount of chemicals like Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), lead or even radon, it would cost us more than $400 for a single test. Generally, the Airpura C600 needs 4 hours to completely finish such task, which is 12 times quicker than the Oransi EJ120.

For an air purifier specifically for chemicals and gases like the Airpura C600, the HEPA filter cost is only $59, and you need to replace it after 1 year. The high-quality Carbon filter, however, will cost you $279. But if you are living in proximity to industrial factories, you really need to pay for this Carbon filter, as it is only $0.4 you pay for your clean air each day.

Airpura C600 Room Coverage

The second important criteria to decide the performance of one air purifier is the room coverage and CADR rating. Airpura C600 is one high-range device, and you can expect it to cover an extra large space of 2000 square feet.

The ACH of Airpura C600 is 2X. Any air purifiers in this brand will only exchange the air every 30 minutes.

The CADR of Airpura C600 is 560 cfm in general. From my experience, the CADR rating of this air purifier is only below the Blueair Pro XL. With such fan power, Airpura C600 can clean your room very fast.

Airpura C600 Sound

Despite of the strong fan power, with the advanced technology, Airpura can make their air purifiers perform as quietly as possible.

I am quite surprise to measure the lowest noise level of this Airpura C600 is only 28 decibels, which is even quieter than the whisper. It is amazing for the price, I believe.

The noise level at the highest setting is also reasonable for the fan power. It is about 62 decibels (db), a noise level that is like the noise level of conversation at office. You will notice it, but you won’t be distracted much by such noise level.

Airpura C600 Power Consumption

In Breathe Quality, one of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?”. In fact, an air purifier needs to run for a long time (usually more than 8 hours) to be efficient, and therefore, power consumption is an important criteria to decide which air purifier to buy.

Keep it in mind that an air purifier with better performance, will commonly consume more energy. The Airpura C600 has a lowest power consumption of 40 watts. When you run the device on highest fan speed, it would consume 120 watts.

Airpura C600 Additional Features

Both the Airpura and Austin Air families are saying no to any kinds of additional features. It seems that the high-end air purifiers are mostly for air purification, not for some flashy features to show off. You shouldn’t be surprise if your Airpura C600 doesn’t have any additional features, just like the Blueair Pro L and Oransi EJ120.

There won’t be even the filter replacement indicator or the Timer. There is only one manual switch to change the fan speed of this machine.
