  • 50% more expensive than the Airpura R700 for same performance

Founded in 2004 in Quebec by Helder Pedro, Airpura produces some of the most premium and powerful air purifiers on the market, often costing twice as much as an Austin Air HealthMate Plus. This Airpura P700 review highlights their latest flagship, one of the most expensive products tested in Breathe Quality’s labs.

Other Airpura’s Air Purifier Reviews:

Airpura P700 Price

We have tested lots of Airpura products up until now, 18 different units, with the Airpura P700 is the most expensive. From $1549 for the base P700 model, and you can up $50 more to get the finest form of the Airpura P714 at $1599. For most people, it’s like buying 8 separate air purifiers for their homes, and you may ask if it’s worth buying the Airpura P700.

Time for a little comparison, the Airpura P700 is again, $150 higher than the older Airpura P600, and it seems Airpura is clearing the predecessor out of stock, just like how they did with the Airpura UV600. At its price, the Airpura P700 costs >50% more than the Airpura R700. By buying the R700, you have enough money to spend for a Airpura R400. Yes, that’s how expensive of the Airpura P700.

It isn’t the first time we have our hands on such an expensive air purifier: the IQAir GC MultiGas may be cheaper at the time of writing, but it costs a lot more in 2026. We decided to revisit this in 2026, only to find that high-end air purifiers have unfortunately become even less affordable.

High-end products with poor reviews are removed from stock faster than you might expect. We have the Molekule Air Pro and Oransi Erik 650A as examples, and it’s high time to test whether the Airpura P700 can last. Airpura air purifiers typically have high performance, but very low features score, and this is 2026, asking >$1500 for an air purifier with ranking C is, well, not recommended.

Airpura P700 Design and Size

Serious air purifiers are generally always larger than their consumer counterparts. Here with the Airpura P700, like previous 700 Series models, it is a substantial unit, larger and heavier than most you may find on the market.

At 14.5 × 14.5 × 23 inches, and weighing in at 47 pounds, the Airpura P700 really needs to have 4 casters so its users can move it around. It is the design concept of Austin Air, and currently it is the design priority for air purifiers at this price range. The unit’s four casters and straightforward dial control do make setup a little easier, and for day-to-day operation, it is surprisingly simple to manage.

The unit features an all-metal, powder-coated steel exterior and a felt-sealed filter chamber, giving it a solid, high-quality feel. Metal appliances are becoming less common today, as products are increasingly designed for faster consumption and replacement. The Airpura P700 is definitely built to last.

Dominating the top of the unit is a simple dial control with variable speed adjustment. Whilst this isn’t the most feature-rich interface for this class of air purifier, it does give a clear, tactile method for adjusting filtration intensity. The control is protected by the same solid steel housing that encases the entire unit, which should help protect it from knocks and general wear. It also features a clean, minimal aesthetic that blends into most interiors.

Moving to the rear of the unit, there’s an intuitive filter access panel that allows you to reach the carbon and HEPA stages directly. This is relatively straightforward, and its default configuration holds the pre-filter, carbon bed, and HEPA as a ready-to-service stack, which is quite practical, but requires following Airpura’s manual maintenance schedule.

Taking a look around the body of the unit, there are a few interesting features, including the 360° air intake that draws air in from all directions for uniform room coverage. There’s also a separately sealed motor chamber on the interior, along with the pressure-sealed filter chamber. Behind the outer housing, under the perforated steel shell, is where all the filtration action takes place. Then on the exterior there is the speed dial, the power switch for the UV lamp, and the PCO on/off toggle.

Finally, a quick note on the build credentials: the Airpura P700 comes with an all-metal, PCB-free construction, meaning it can run continuously without off-gassing plastics, adhesives, or rubber vapors back into the air it’s meant to clean.

Airpura P700 Filters

When we evaluate an air purifier’s performance, the number of filters and the air filter types it uses can tell us a lot. As the flagship, the Airpura P700 runs an unique 5-stage air cleaning system.

  1. Pre-filter – To protect the main filter, Airpura P700 uses a poly pre-filter, which can trap large particles such as dust and hair. It can be vacuumed clean and should be changed every 12 months.
  2. Activated Carbon filter – You get a powerful Activated Carbon filter in this Airpura P700, to adsorb any types of household chemicals, smoke, odors and even Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). It is 18 lbs in weight, containing coconut shell carbon.
  3. True HEPA filter – The Airpura P700 also features the top-class H13 True HEPA filter of this company, which can deal with 99.97% of any airborne particles ≥ 0.3 microns.
  4. UV-C light filter – With the new UV lamp, the Airpura P700 can remove disease-causing viruses, bacteria and mold.
  5. TitanClean Photocatalytic oxidation – An added protection to safely break down any chemicals and odors and purify the air.

For most parts, the Airpura P700 is just the Airpura P600 with an upgraded fan power. Its air filtration system is housing the same filter set as the predecessor – which is a high-quality and capable HEPA filter. You can up”grade” from H13 to H14 Super HEPA filter for extra performance, for $50 more (about 3.22% difference in price).

Name Airpura P614 Airpura R700 Airpura P700 Airpura P714
Filter Super HEPA filter True HEPA filter True HEPA filter (same as R700) Super HEPA filter
CADR (free flow) 560 cfm 635 cfm 635 cfm 635 cfm
CADR (real test) 433 cfm 515 cfm 515 cfm 515 cfm

The HEPA filter is a massive 40-sq-ft layer of filtration, with certified rating to deal with 99.97% of any airborne pollutants such as dust, dust mites, pollen, mold spores, pet dander, bacteria, germs and viruses. These impurities can be as small as 0.3 microns, the standard of MERV-17 rating.

The Airpura P700 mostly works like the Airpura UV700, with the combination of H13 HEPA filter, high-mass carbon filter and UV-C germicidal lamp. The only difference is Airpura’s TitanClean Photocatalytic oxidation technology. It isn’t a new air purification technology, as it is included in Airocide first and then you can see it from air purifiers with high price tag like the Molekule Air Pro. When titanium dioxide is irradiated with UV light, it create hydroxyls (which is exactly the same thing from the PlasmaWave of the discontinued Winix T1).

The result, it breaks pollutant molecules, turning them into harmless substances. It is the core technology of AeraMax, Sharp and Winix previously. It is a process that ensures anything trapped inside the Airpura filter is rendered useless.

For the test, the Airpura P700 easily bypassed the most difficult test in Breathe Quality, only made for the most expensive air purifiers.

Airpura P700 review

However, the filter cost of the Airpura P700 is even higher than the Airpura UV700, adding about $250 for 2 years of use. To put it simple, you need to pay $600 for the first 2 years, then after 5 years, you’re nearly paying a new Airpura R700.

Airpura P700 Room Coverage

The Airpura P700 is recommended for rooms up to 2,500 square feet, which is better than its predecessor. Note that Airpura does not submit its air purifiers for AHAM testing, so the actual room coverage is likely smaller.

The ACH of Airpura P700 is 2X. Meaning it will clean the manufacturer’s suggested room size two times per hour, or every 30 minutes.

The CADR of Airpura P700 is 635 cfm in general. Airpura air purifiers are currently the highest fan power ones on the market.

Airpura P700 Sound

What’s really nice here with the Airpura P700 is that the motor power that drives the whole machine is much more efficient than the previous Airpura P600. Thanks to the new felt gasket and a more efficient motor, the Airpura P700 can achieve as low as 30 decibels (dB) on lowest speed.

On highest speed, the Airpura P700 caps at 68 decibels, which is roughly the same as a vacuum cleaner. It is noisy, so Airpura recommends running at medium speed for bedrooms.

Airpura P700 Power Consumption

In Breathe Quality, one of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?”. In fact, an air purifier needs to run for a long time (usually more than 8 hours) to be efficient, and therefore, power consumption is an important criteria to decide which air purifier to buy.

The Airpura P700 shares the same internal parts as the Airpura UV700, meaning you need to calculate the UV lamp’s power wattage for the total of 136-138 watts. It is quite efficient for its performance, but not the best on the market.

Running the Airpura P700 at least 8 hours per day, you need to pay $60 annually.

Airpura P700 Additional Features

Both the Airpura and Austin Air families are saying no to any kinds of additional features. It seems that the high-end air purifiers are mostly for air purification, not for some flashy features to show off. You shouldn’t be surprise if your Airpura P700 doesn’t have any additional features.

There won’t be even the filter replacement indicator or the Timer. There is only one manual switch to change the fan speed of this machine.

Our verdict

The Airpura P700 is expensive because it targets perfectionists who want the highest level of air purification. It is a beast in its own right, featuring a high-quality H14 HEPA filter, 18-lb carbon, a high-performance UV lamp, and PCO technology, and it is capable of tackling virtually any airborne pollutants.
