As the direct smart version of the Honeywell HPA175, you will guess that the price of the Honeywell HPA180 will be $20 higher, just like the case of the compact Honeywell HPA075 and Honeywell HPA080. Nope. Honeywell keeps the same price for the Honeywell HPA180, making it a more appealing buy.

But why? Perhaps Honeywell wants you to think the Honeywell HPA180 seem to be a steal, or because the company really wants to manufacture and sell this unit than the HPA175. More than just a traditional back-to-front airflow system concept, the Honeywell HPA180 features a necessary Smart Sensor, something that keeps it competitive at the moment.

So, back to the price, the Honeywell HPA180 is $189, but if you follow our deal as usual, you can find the Honeywell HPA180 for as little as $139. Notice that the price is likely to change depending on when you read this article.

If 360° air inlet is the trend of this year, and every manufacturer is seeking to cash in on the trend, the Honeywell HPA180 is actually a reminder of old air purifiers that work like tower fans. Well, the Honeywell HPA180 still needs to compete with the Levoit Core 300S, Winix 5500-2, Airmega 150, or TCL Breeva A5. They all feature great features and high performance, and unfortunately, they are all in the same price range.

Honeywell HPA180 Design and Size

Honeywell continues to keep its tradition of sharing the same design concept across a line, and the Honeywell HPA180 does a great job of saying: “Hey, it’s a Honeywell air purifier.” So to say, the Honeywell HPA180 resembles the Honeywell HPA175 the way its compact version, the Honeywell HPA080 copies the Honeywell HPA075. The signature black color option and parallel horizontal grills tell us it’s made by Honeywell.

However, it still feels more modern, highlighting the air quality indicator, rectangular shape, and touch control panel. It isn’t anything like the black sheep Honeywell HPA830, and it is for pure Honeywell fans.

Other than that, the Honeywell HPA180 is the same as its brother in almost every way. You get a device with dimensions of 29 x 10.4 x 12.8 inches, the same back-to-front airflow system concept, and a convenient handle at the back. It also needs twice the air filter, just like the Honeywell HPA030B.

The touch control panel on top has a bit of a difference from the HPA175 because the Honeywell HPA180 has more features. While it does feel nice when looking at it, the same concerns around durability once again apply.

At 17 lbs, the Honeywell HPA180 is sturdy enough to withstand some pushes from your pets. All in all, the Honeywell HPA180 is a well-built air purifier that you could expect from this American manufacturer.

Honeywell HPA180 Filters

Next-gen Honeywell air purifiers add one optional air filter to the new 3-stage air cleaning system. The Honeywell HPA180 is following this setup strictly.

1. Pre-filter – The pre-filter is a carbon filter. This will both help adsorb VOCs, gases, and odors and trap larger particles. You will need to replace this filter after 3 months of usage.
2. Optional Activated Carbon filter – A honeycombed carbon filter is specially formulated for customization.
   • HRFTK1: Formulated with potassium permanganate and activated carbon for faster odor adsorption and reduction.
   • HRFTS1: Formulated with treated activated carbon for smoke and odor adsorption.
   • HRFTS1: Formulated with activated carbon and zeolite for pet odor adsorption.
3. True HEPA filter – The Honeywell HPA180 uses a True HEPA filter to capture up to 99.97% of down to 0.3 microns contaminant particles like pet dander, mold, viruses, bacteria and pollen.

By employing only mechanical air filters, the Honeywell HPA180 is easily certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) as being safe to use. Moreover, Honeywell’s True HEPA filter has a high reputation for dealing with even the tiniest airborne particles.

But the selling point of next-gen products is the optional Activated Carbon filter, which is a more powerful honeycombed filter with activated carbon. You can customize your air filter to be formulated with different chemicals to ensure the adsorption and removal of smoke, odors, and VOCs. It is necessary for Honeywell to implement this optional air filter so its air purifiers can be as competitive as others on the market.

For the performance test, the Honeywell HPA180 did fairly well against top dogs in the market like the Filtrete FAP-T03BA-G2, Bissell air220 and Airmega 150. It also showed better results than its predecessor, the Honeywell HPA160.

You will need the pre-filter A and HEPA filter G (HRF-G2) for this Honeywell HPA180, which costs around $45. With bigger size, the Honeywell HPA180 needs 2 filters G (HRF-G1), so you should make sure to buy the right quantity. The same thing is applied for the non-smart HPA175.

Honeywell HPA180 Room Coverage

As an air purifier verified by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM), the Honeywell HPA180 is trusted by its consumers because it can work efficiently in 200 square feet. However, I can guarantee that the unit can run even in a 300-sq-ft room.

The ACH of Honeywell HPA180 is 5x. An AHAM-verified air purifier will clean 4.8 times per hour in its suggested room size.

The CADR of Honeywell HPA180 is 128 Dust/ 132 Smoke/ 151 Pollen (cfm). It has better fan power than old compact models of Honeywell, like the Honeywell HPA030B and Honeywell HPA160. However, it is nowhere near the fan power of the Honeywell HPA5200, and if you value more performance, it should be taken into consideration.

Honeywell HPA180 Sound

The new Honeywell air purifiers do fairly well at keeping noise levels as low as possible. At 29 decibels (dB) at the lowest speed, there is little else to notice while running the Honeywell HPA180. It is just as quiet as a whisper, and you can easily forget that it is running.

We don’t count the noise level as a factor of performance in Breathe Quality’s ranking list; however, you should know that the Honeywell HPA180 is as quiet as its mini brothers – the Honeywell HPA075 or Honeywell HPA080, despite being more powerful.

On its highest speed, the Honeywell HPA180 does a solid job of keeping the noise level at 54 decibels.

Honeywell HPA180 Power Consumption

One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” In fact, we need to run an air purifier for a long time to be efficient. And power consumption is one important criterion to review to determine if this air purifier is good or not.

The Honeywell HPA180 is also an air purifier with an Energy Star rating, which means it meets strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. EPA. It has a CADR/watts ratio of 2.4, which is decent. The air purifier has a rated power of 55 watts.

It is a high-quality air sensor that constantly monitors the air in the room. It also enables Auto Mode, which automatically operates at the appropriate cleaning level to reduce the VOCs that are detected in the room. It is a necessary feature if you want to set and forget your air purifier.

Basic features of the Honeywell HPA180 is also better than the Honeywell HPA175, as you have a light dimmer and an auto timer. There is also a LED indicator for filter replacement, so you don’t need to keep guessing when to change your air filter.

Honeywell is a market leader in air purifiers, but its customer service is not as friendly as that of competitors. You can reach customer service via the mailbox at the Honeywell Store at 407 N. Or you can email sales@honeywellstore.com for any problems you experience while on the site or after buying a product. Honeywell is available from Monday to Friday.

It doesn’t have free shipping like Rabbit Air or Alen, and you must notify customer service within one business day of any problems with a third-party shipping service like USPS or FedEx. Otherwise, it will not accept liability for any merchandise damage during transit. Also, the shipment can take up to 10 business days from the date that the order is shipped.

The hardest part is when you want to return one Honeywell air purifier, as you only have 30 days from the date you receive your item to process your return. If there is no transit damage or workmanship defects, you won’t receive the shipping charge (on both the original shipping charge and the return shipping charge) and will have to pay a 10–30% re-stocking fee.

Honeywell’s warranty policy is also among the longest in the industry, with up to 5 years of coverage.
