Finally, we will get an air purifier with a different design concept, but the big question here is: Is it better than the previous flagship? The Therapure series is also the most popular in the whole family, thanks to the application of UV-C light filter and HEPA filter. Envion Therapure TPP440 Price

While its new design won’t win any beauty contests, it’s still a well-specced device for a relatively modest price, with only HEPA-type filter and an UV-C lamp. The next-gen filter is quite better so the device doesn’t need the ionizer like the previous Therapure TPP240.

It also livens up the high fan power for a tower air purifier, which is great for the price and is easy to use without the need of any manuals.

The previous flagship air purifier, Therapure TPP240, had some quirky additional features to increase the price, and you can expect more on the Envion Therapure TPP440. The best part? Envion still keeps the same price tag for this next-gen flagship air purifier, to be only $149.

But if you have strong allergies to airborne pollutants, maybe the Envion Allergy Pro AP200 works better for you thanks to installment of True HEPA filter. You should notice the presence of the Envion Four Seasons FS200, because it provides both heater and humidifier features for the same price as our today unit.

Also, you can get many smart air purifiers with high performance within the same price, like the Levoit LV-PUR131, Winix 5500-2 or Winix C535. Want to keep the tower design concept? Envion Therapure TPP440 Design and Size

Envion Therapure TPP440 isn’t like any other Envion air purifiers we’ve seen thus far, but it is still no beauty queen. Sober and functional are the watch words, and while the big handle can help you grab the device easier, it is not such beautiful.

The style of this air purifier is later applied to the Allergy Pro AP200, only changes the color from white to black. Personally, I love the black finish, which is much more premium on the Envion Therapure TPP440. The white color on plastic body made by this manufacturer looks quite cheap, which is not suitable for a flagship product.

Other aspects remain the same, because Envion Therapure TPP440 is just another tower air purifier, with back-to-front air flow system concept. You still need to look for the locking latch before removing the back air inlet.

Just like the Allergy Pro AP200, Envion Therapure TPP440 uses perforated holes for the front air outlet. It also keeps the same height of 25 inches for the device, which is a good sign for applying True HEPA filter for the flagship of Therapure series in the near future.

The control panel from Envion Therapure TPP440 consists of 5 different buttons, laid below the oval LED screen. However, I don’t like the placement of control panel to be on front rather than top, as I need to bend down to change the air purifier settings.

This air purifier is a lightweight device, with only 9.5 lbs. You can easily move it around your home.

Envion Therapure TPP440 Filters

To decide the performance of one air purifier, normally we will check the quality and quantity of air filters inside this device, as well as the air filter types. The Envion Therapure TPP440 runs a 3-stage air cleaning system as below.

1. HEPA-type filter – It is not a True HEPA filter, and the quality is much inferior. It is able to capture mold, smoke, germs, bacteria, viruses, common allergens, pet dander & odor from the air in your home.
2. UV-C light filter – The Envion Therapure TPP440 can kill germs, bacteria and viruses with the UV lamp. It is certified by California Air Resources Board (CARB) for ozone emissions under safety.
3. Photocatalyst filter – A material to support the UV light filter in removing dangerous gasses and toxic Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from the air.

The HEPA-type filter from Envion Therapure TPP440 is a step up from the Therapure TPP240, offering a better performance that it doesn’t need the ionizer to support anymore. Though it isn’t really the league of other True HEPA filters in the market, it can easily stands comparison with the popular ifD filter from Honeywell.

However, you still need a good test to actually know the performance of our today unit. In a room of 150 square feet, I let the Envion Therapure TPP440 run in 1 hour. Compared with other air purifiers in the same Envion family, the Envion Therapure TPP440 showed greater result than even the next-gen model – Therapure TPP540, with efficiency of 93% for trapping any particles down to 0.3 microns.

The HEPA-type filter from Envion Therapure TPP440 is, again, said to be permanent. You only need to clean the air filter regularly, but in case of some unexpected events, you should replace it to keep the maximum performance.

Envion Therapure TPP440 Room Coverage

As a budget air purifier in low-range segment, the Envion Therapure TPP440 doesn’t store much fan power. Its room coverage is suggested to be 395 square feet, but in real-world use, the actual room coverage can be much smaller.

The ACH of Envion Therapure TPP440 is 3x.

The CADR of Envion Therapure TPP440 is 150 Dust/ 108 Smoke/ 163 Pollen (cfm). This air purifier holds the most powerful fan power in the whole Envion family, compared with flagship from other generations and series.

Envion Therapure TPP440 Sound

The Envion Therapure TPP440 will deliver higher noise level than any air purifiers in Ionic Pro series, for example Ionic Pro Turbo or Ionic Pro Platinum. The culprit is clearly the installment of HEPA filter, which requires higher fan power to operate. As a result, you will notice the noise from this air purifier.

Its noise level can reach as high as 60 decibels (db) on highest speed, which is the same as the noise level of public places. If you are sensitive to the sound, you won’t be happy with such noise. Be sure to turn the fan speed to lowest, so you can enjoy the fresh air when sleeping or working.

Envion Therapure TPP440 Power Consumption

One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” because we need to run an air purifier for a constant long time, and power consumption is really a thing to consider.

Envion Therapure TPP440 comes with maximum power consumption at 54 watts, with an additional 3 watts for the UV lamp. Again, we have a flagship of Envion Therapure with the same Energy Star rating, together with the same power consumption.

Running an Envion Therapure TPP440 for 8 hours per day, and you need to pay $19 each year.

Envion Therapure TPP440 Additional Features

The newer control panel of Envion Therapure TPP440 allows us to manage more settings than any previous Therapure air purifiers. Besides basic functional buttons like power button or UV button, we will have a Timer to schedule the time off up to 24 hours. Each press on the button will add 1 hour in the timer, and you can follow the current timer setting with the LED screen.

You will have a new feature for this Envion flagship – the Night Mode. It can turn off both the UV light bar and the LED screen, only let the power button remain lit. Remember, it only turns off the UV light bar, not the actual UV lamp inside the air purifier.

Finally, you still have the LED indicator for cleaning purpose, which is nice to have. To reset the indicator, press the timer and power buttons together for 3 seconds.

Though being superseded by the Therapure TPP540, the Envion Therapure TPP440 is likely to be available online, and the fact that it isn’t different much from the next-gen device, so if you are a fan of Envion, you shouldn’t miss it.
