Other Honeywell’s Air Purifier Reviews:

Honeywell HPA125 Price

The Honeywell HPA125 offers a bedroom-friendly compact HEPA purification system for just $79. That marks it out as something quite practical. We shall see between this Honeywell HPA125 and GermGuardian AC3000, which one is the new best air purifier for bedroom.

While the 530-square-foot coverage claim doesn’t lend itself perfectly to standard 4.8-ACH performance – or even all room sizes – the Honeywell HPA125 undoubtedly enhances bedrooms and nurseries that can make full use of its filtration.

Honeywell perhaps wants to use the Honeywell HPA125 as a new modern Honeywell compact air purifier, to replace all the 100 series, from the newest Honeywell HPA5100, Honeywell HPA3100 and Honeywell HPA100. It shares the same price and function as the Honeywell HPA080 – both target the bedroom segment.

Honeywell’s quality control is still top-tier, both in low range and high range segments, and I know many people will look for a Honeywell air purifier instead of other brands. You may be well acquainted with the HVAC system of Honeywell, but don’t forget that its air purifiers are as good as the commercial products.

But still, the Honeywell HPA125 is in the same competition against the Blue Pure 511 and the Levoit Core 300 – both are strong in budget segment.

Honeywell HPA125 Design and Size

The Honeywell HPA125’s in-betweener pricing is perfectly reflected in its in-betweener design. It’s a neat combination of smooth matte surfaces and a compact cylindrical plastic body.

While you might find yourself pining for a brushed-metal finish, we found the effect to be rather appealing. This is just a low-range air purifier, and honestly, beside things from Austin Air or Airpura, we rarely find in anyone home a steel air purifier. This approach does lend the Honeywell HPA125 a refreshingly stealth look, at least on our all-black test unit. You can also get it in white or gray, which aren’t quite so understated.

That matte plastic body also serves a couple of practical purposes beyond keeping the price down. The cylindrical form provides 360° airflow system concept, while it also contributes to the purifier’s portability. It’s a mere slip of a thing at just 2.08 lbs.

Honeywell’s no-nonsense design language adds to this understated vibe. There are no touchscreens on the Honeywell HPA125, and it seems the company is using this control panel for the first time in this new air purifier. It’s as robust as it looks, and we all appreciate the new design.

The Honeywell HPA125 is a perfect companion on a tabletop, with its dimensions of 11 x 7 x 7 inches, smaller than most other competitors at the moment.

Honeywell HPA125 Filters

To determine the performance of an air purifier, normally we will check quality and quantity of an air purifier’s filters first, as well as its air filter types. The Honeywell HPA125 stays true to the HPA series of Honeywell, using physical-only 3-stage air cleaning system:

  1. Pre-filter – The pre-filter is vacuumable. It can trap dust, hair and fur.
  2. True HEPA filter – The Honeywell HPA125 uses a True HEPA filter to capture up to 99.97% of contaminant particles down to 0.3 microns, like pet dander, mold, viruses, bacteria, and pollen.
  3. Activated Carbon filter – Simple carbon filter reduces odors & VOCs.

The Honeywell HPA125 runs a all-in-one air filter, which is very different from its brothers like the Honeywell HPA5300 or Honeywell HPA180. However, deep inside is still the genuine Honeywell True HEPA filter quality, and the result is good enough.

One thing, the 360° air filtration needs a much more powerful fan. Because of that, the Honeywell HPA125 doesn’t really work as good as something like the Honeywell HPA080, though both sport the same CADR rating.

For the performance, the Honeywell HPA125 does a little bit lower than the Medify MA-15 and Levoit Core 200S, as it traps 99.6% of all particles down to 0.3 microns, after 1 hour. The test is for small devices, in a room of only 100 square feet.

The new filter O (HRFO1) of Honeywell is very much similar to the filter of GermGuardian – you only need to replace one after 1 year.

Honeywell HPA125 Room Coverage

As usual, the Honeywell HPA125 is an air purifier tested and verified by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM), so its room coverage is always true to use. The Honeywell HPA125 is suggested for rooms up to 110 square feet.

The ACH of Honeywell HPA125 is 5x. All air purifiers verified by AHAM tests will clean a suggested room size 5 times per hour.

The CADR of Honeywell HPA125 is 79 Dust/ 71 Smoke/ 79 Pollen (cfm). It isn’t the most powerful Honeywell air purifier on budget segment, the Honeywell HPA3100 does the job far better.

Honeywell HPA125 Sound

The Honeywell HPA125 follows all Honeywell small air purifiers in sporting genuinely quiet sleep-mode performance. And that despite the fact that it’s a pretty modest (by modern standards) ~80 CFM unit.

Given that this is a Honeywell purifier clearly geared toward bedroom use, however, that may not be how you run your unit. And continuous overnight operation does tend to level things out somewhat. The noise level of the Honeywell HPA125 is as low as 20 decibels (dB) – just like the rustling leaves.

Honeywell HPA125 Power Consumption

One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” because we need to run an air purifier for a long time, and power consumption is really something to consider. There is even a label named Energy Star for the most energy-efficient air purifiers, which we consider a point in our performance ranking.

The Honeywell HPA125 is an Energy Star air purifier, just like its brothers, and it uses only 13 watts, so the CADR per watt is very good for an air purifier. Energy Star also considers the Honeywell HPA125 as its most efficient air purifier last year.

If you plan to run the Honeywell HPA125 for at least 8 hours per day, you need to pay up to $5.26 annually.

Honeywell HPA125 Additional Features

The Honeywell HPA125’s AQSense sensing system is almost as balanced as its design. You get three clear indicator states, with none of the complexity of fully connected smart-home platforms.

That includes a green indicator for clean air, a yellow for moderate pollution levels, and red for poor air quality. The AQSense sensor, too, continuously adjusts fan speed based on real-time readings without requiring any user input.

With the sensing system in particular, Honeywell wins extra points for resisting the urge to require a companion app in place of a simple on-unit indicator. We’ve spotted a number of competing air purifiers doing this of late, seemingly as a way to justify premium pricing.

Other than that, the Honeywell HPA125 has some great features for being a bedroom air purifier. The Sleep mode is simple but lower noise level to be as quiet as rustling leaves, or an Auto-off Timer to schedule when to turn off the air purifier.

Honeywell HPA5300 Customer Service

Honeywell is a market leader in air purifiers, but its customer service is not as friendly as that of competitors. You can reach customer service via the mailbox at the Honeywell Store at 407 N. Quentin Road, Palatine, Illinois. But I suggest you call 847-701-3038 for any support questions. Or you can email sales@honeywellstore.com for any problems you experience while on the site or after buying a product. Honeywell is available from Monday to Friday.

It doesn’t have free shipping like Rabbit Air or Alen, and you must notify customer service within one business day of any problems with a third-party shipping service like USPS or FedEx. Otherwise, it will not accept liability for any merchandise damage during transit. Also, the shipment can take up to 10 business days from the date that the order is shipped.

The hardest part is when you want to return one Honeywell air purifier, as you only have 30 days from the date you receive your item to process your return. If there is no transit damage or workmanship defects, you won’t receive the shipping charge (on both the original shipping charge and the return shipping charge) and will have to pay a 10–30% re-stocking fee.

Honeywell’s warranty policy is also among the longest in the industry, with up to 5 years of coverage.

Our verdict

While the fan power of the Honeywell HPA125 is still not as I would expect from Honeywell, it is certified with good balance of features and annual cost, making it a promising air purifier to buy for your bedroom.
