Sadly, this “Lifetime warranted” air purifier charges you too much for such idea, and its filter life is actually short to guarantee its life time. Medify MA-35 Price

The Medify MA-35 doesn’t look boring as the new Medify MA-50 of this company. But its side display is so negligible that we think it’s just another boring air purifier with only “wall-mounted” selling point. Luckily, the Medify MA-35 has more than that to keep up with the mid-range competition.

It comes with a Lifetime warranty like any other Medify products, but there is a question mark over whether Medify Air will actually exist in several years’ time to honor the warranty. Like I said earlier, it’s a risk that you must aware of when buying device from a start-up, that was founded in just 2019.

But does the tech stack up? The Medify MA-35 packs a large set of H13 True HEPA filter, and it brings back the ionizer feature of the most famous Medify MA-40. However, at the same performance as the first device, the Medify MA-35 asks $75 more, and starts at $349. Well, such difference can’t be checked as a “good deal”, right?

So, are you willing to pay more for a wall-mounted device, that simply works just like (or less than) the Blue Pure 311i Max, Coway AP-1512HH or Winix AM90? Still, I don’t deny the portability of this air purifier, and it even has good Smart Sensor that you can’t get from a more expensive Medify MA-50. Actually, it does its job well if you keep your techy expectations low, and its real-world HEPA filter is still great.

At the moment, the price of the Medify MA-35 drops to only $179.

Medify MA-35 Design and Size

The Medify MA-35 is notable for the ways it rejects a few conventions of air purifier design. A wall-mounted air purifier is always a good view, but its display from the side is really not helpful at all. More will be revealed in the “Additional features” section below.

There’s a downside to the Medify Air approach. An air purifier without good display and no connection to smartphone app won’t help the users to manage the indoor air. And the front-to-back air flow system concept truly hinders its efficiency, to the point that I wish to put it down and use it just like a common floor unit.

For the size, the Medify MA-35 ticks all the box with its dimensions: 19.7 (height) x 25.7 (width) x 6.9 (depth) inches, matching the depth of the famous Rabbit Air MinusA2. It actually has touch control panel, which is pointless for a mountable unit. This is less likely to be a problem because there is a remote control for this air purifier, however, you still question like us about this design idea.

Luckily, you can get a table top stand to put the Medify MA-35 on, and use it on any table top. The Medify MA-35 weighs only 13.7 lbs.

Medify MA-35 Filters

Medify Air seems to bring more levels of air filtration into their system, instead of staying at “pure mechanical filter” code to ensure a quick CARB certification. Let’s take a look at the 4-stage air cleaning system of the Medify MA-35.

1. Pre-filter – A layer of pre-filter covers the True HEPA filter, to prolong the life time of the core filter, by trapping the large objects of pollutants like fur, hair and large dust.
2. True HEPA filter – The True HEPA filter (graded H13) captures 99.97% of as small as 0.3 microns allergens, virus particles, pollen, mold and fungi particles.
3. Activated Carbon filter – Uses substantial carbon filter with carbon pellets to remove toxic odors, smoke and formaldehyde.
4. Ionizer – Negative ions charges particles and traps them inside the unit. Can be switched on/off.

With the Medify MA-35 v2.0, we have a new test for it, reflecting its new price point. It still does nearly the same result as the old test, but it faces against easier opponents under $200, like the Winix 5530, Levoit Vital 200S and Airmega 200M.

The filter of the Medify MA-35, again, discourages anyone to buy this air purifier. It costs $69, and asks you to change it every 4 months, to comply the Lifetime Warranty of Medify Air.

Medify MA-35 Room Coverage

The Medify MA-35 is recommended to use in a room of 640 square feet by the manufacturer, but for maximum performance, you should use this device in a much smaller room. At the moment, the Medify MA-35 v2.0 is verified by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM), to cover rooms up to 277 square feet.

The ACH of the Medify MA-35 is 5X. According to the manufacturer, it will clean 2 times per hour in a room of 640 square feet.

The CADR of the Medify MA-35 is 181 Dust/ 179 Smoke/ 211 Pollen (cfm). It is better than the original version 1.0 with AHAM-verified CADR of 178 Dust/ 175 Smoke/ 200 Pollen (cfm). However, the difference is negligible.

Medify MA-35 Sound

The Medify MA-35 isn’t really an air purifier for bedroom, especially when it is running on highest fan speed. The maximum noise level of this air purifier is 65 decibels (dB), and you can only hope for the Smart Sensor to kick in and reduce the fan speed.

Even on lowest speed, the noise level is quite higher than normal device at 43 decibels. However, it is still suitable to sleep with the air purifier on.

Medify MA-35 Power Consumption

One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” In fact, air purifier must be used for a long time to be efficient. And power consumption is one important criteria to review if this air purifier is good or not.

The power consumption of the Medify MA-50 is 40 watts, which is thankfully lower than the Medify MA-40. I believe this air purifier will be the next Energy Star certified device from this manufacturer.

If you run the Medify MA-35 for 8 hours per day, it would cost you $14 each year.

Medify MA-35 Additional Features

Like I said earlier, the Medify MA-35 makes no sense by having a full list on touch control. Moreover, you won’t notice the side display for sure.

Another questionable thing of this air purifier is its Child lock function. It is recommended to stay out of touch from the children and pet, but Medify Air still adds this function.

Luckily, we have Smart Sensor and Auto Mode, which is removed from the new Medify MA-50 for no good reason. This air sensor will detect the level of air pollution, and respond by changing the fan speed. This feature is really necessary for a wall-mounted air purifier like the Medify MA-35.

Finally, there is a LED indicator for filter replacement. It helps you keep in check with the Lifetime warranty of Medify Air.

Medify Air also guarantees your air purifier to be free of defects in material or workmanship for a lifetime period. To start the lifetime warranty, you need to submit a warranty registration within first 30 days, and commit to change genuine Medify Air’s filter every 4 months, 6 months or 1 year (depending on the product), as well as strictly follow the manual guide of Medify Air.

If you want to return the product, you must do it within 30 days of purchase with a valid receipt. Remember to include the original box and packaging materials.

Our verdict

The Medify MA-35 is a wall-mounted air purifier and if you think this concept is cute and necessary, just buy it blindly because you can’t find many mountable devices for its price. However, its design is terrible, and I don’t think you can sleep with its high fan speed. Also, to keep up with the Lifetime warranty, you need to pay a lot for annual filter replacement.
