Medify MA-22 Price

If you’re new to Medify Air’s purifiers, the order can get a little confusing – there’s no MA-19, MA-20, or MA-21, but there is a discontinued Medify MA-18 that’s similar in a few ways and which came out years earlier, and definitely don’t confuse it with the Medify MA-25, which is in fact a pricier, higher-CADR unit in the same family!

In fact, get all notion of “premium” out of your head, because the Medify MA-22 is anything but. It has got one of the lower price tags you can find in Medify’s own lineup, and specs and features to match, which is to say it’s undeniably entry-level.

Yes, the Medify MA-22 is at the same price as both the Medify MA-14 and Medify MA-15, even though both of those models are still available for purchase. You can buy the Medify MA-22 at only $110, which is a tiny bit more than the MA-14.

At this price range, the Medify MA-22 must compete against the GermGuardian AC3000, Honeywell HPA125, Levoit Core 300 and Blue Pure 511. The low-budget race isn’t easy, so you should check Breathe Quality deal, to grab the Medify MA-22 at only $59. It is an amazing deal, cutting the price off 46%.

Medify MA-22 Design and Size

You’re getting a tempered glass touch screen top on the Medify MA-22, which is definitely nothing to turn your nose up at, as it’s a touch fancier than the plain button panels on Medify’s entry-level Medify MA-14. It’s not flashy though, so if the ever-more-elaborate control panels of newer purifiers put you off, this is the device for you.

You’re also not getting a large footprint, at 15 x 10 x 10 inches, but that’s just a result of the compact design. Airflow through the unit didn’t feel restricted though, as the Medify MA-22 uses the simple bottom-to-top airflow system concept. It is the common concept for a cylindrical air purifier.

Something that’s surprising for a budget purifier is its high filter-to-body ratio – thanks to the rather slim intake grilles and rather limited plastic trim (although the base is a little thick), the pre-filter and HEPA cartridge take up much of the unit’s interior, and at 7 lbs the Medify MA-22 isn’t that heavy.

The color options of the Medify MA-22 are, again, black or white. Our testing unit is a black version, which is very similar to the older MA-14’s color option.

Medify MA-22 Filters

As the decisive criteria for the performance of one air purifier, by default we look at the quantity and the quality of its air filters, and what the air filter types are using. The Medify MA-22 stays as a budget air purifier with only 3-stage air cleaning system.

1. Pre-filter – A nylon pre-filter prolong the life time of the core filter, by trapping the large objects of pollutants like fur, hair and large dust.
2. True HEPA filter – The True HEPA filter (graded H13) captures 99.97% of as small as 0.3 microns allergens, virus particles, pollen, mold and fungi particles.
3. Activated Carbon filter – Removes toxic odors and formaldehyde.

The Medify MA-22 uses the same basic air filtration system found in other budget Medify air purifiers, a design that first appeared with the Medify MA-14. But how does its performance measure up?

As you can see, the difference is negligible between Medify Air models. The Medify MA-22 actually has a lower performance than the older Medify MA-15, but not much to change its ranking in Breathe Quality ranking system.

We will need a new filter for this cylindrical air purifier, and the filter of the Medify MA-22 is expensive at $45. Moreover, you need to replace the filter every 6 months, to meet the requirements of Medify Air’s Lifetime warranty.

Medify MA-22 Room Coverage

The Medify MA-22 is verified by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) for rooms of 115 square feet.

The ACH of the Medify MA-22 is 5X. However, if you’re planning to run the air purifier in its suggested room size of the manufacturer, the air changes per hour is only 1X.

The CADR of the Medify MA-22 is 82 Dust/ 74 Smoke/ 75 Pollen (cfm).

Medify MA-22 Sound

As a compact air purifier, the Medify MA-22 is better suited for bedrooms than its larger siblings. In fact, it delivers with a remarkably low noise level of just 21 decibels (dB). That’s about as quiet as rustling leaves, so you’ll hardly notice it running at its lowest fan speed.

However, its highest noise level is really high at 52 decibels. We don’t think that is quiet for a small air purifier like the Medify MA-22.

Medify MA-22 Power Consumption

One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” In fact, air purifier must be used for a long time to be efficient. And power consumption is one important criteria to review if this air purifier is good or not.

With Medify Air opted out of Energy Star recently, it seems the Medify MA-22 will never be rated Energy Star. It doesn’t matter, because the air purifier has a decent rated power at only 38 watts.

If you’re going to use the Medify MA-22 for at least 8 hours per day, you need to pay $16.6 annually.

Medify MA-22 Additional Features

Medify Air no longer seems interested in competing in the smart air purifier market, so its current lineup should be considered non-smart. The Medify MA-22 includes only the essential features, such as a timer, child lock, and an LED indicator for filter replacement.

If you want a better smart air purifier from Medify Air, you should wait a little bit longer.

Medify Air also guarantees your air purifier to be free of defects in material or workmanship for a lifetime period. To start the lifetime warranty, you need to submit a warranty registration within first 30 days, and commit to change genuine Medify Air’s filter every 4 months, 6 months or 1 year (depending on the product), as well as strictly follow the manual guide of Medify Air.

If you want to return the product, you must do it within 30 days of purchase with a valid receipt. Remember to include the original box and packaging materials.

The Medify MA-22 is a decent air purifier, but in a market where better models are released every year, being merely decent is no longer enough.
