Yes, even the flagship Medify MA-112 or the most popular Medify MA-40 aren’t as appealing as our today reviewed unit, not to mention the distinctive feature of wireless tablet control.

The Medify MA-440 is now available on many common well-known retailers, but it is charged officially for $399 in Medify Air’s website. Well, it costs you $50 (and perhaps more) for buying this air purifier instead of MA-40, but I think it’s reasonable for an air purifier with humidifier function, right?

Finally, there is a hybrid air purifier among the lineup of Medify Air family. This air purifier is still cheaper than the Boneco H680 and sometimes, Sharp KC-860U, but if you’re looking for something more affordable you may want to check out the Boneco H300 or Oreck Air Refresh.

Medify MA-440 Design and Size

Design is always the best selling point of Medify Air. They only build distinctive model, to help you select the most appropriate air purifier for your home.

And the first thing you notice when you use the Medify MA-440 is that it feels different to previous flagships from the firm, as it uses the common design of console air purifier, which is notably used in Alen devices like the Alen BreatheSmart.

The air purifier is made of stainless steel, with the toughened protection hopefully meaning it doesn’t get smash. It has a premium finish with the red-brown color, and this is the only air purifier from the firm to get the treatment.

Medify MA-440 is a huge air purifier with 30 inches in height, and 17.5 inches in width. It is pretty much taller than even the Medify MA-40, also thicker and wider, which is impressive considering the use of metal here.

It uses a bottom-to-top air flow system concept, with the air intake covered with a front plate. There’s nothing on top of the Medify MA-440, because you will use a 7-inch touch screen control panel to manage the setting. You only find a hole for releasing scents, and two LED indicators.

Medify MA-440 Filters

To decide the performance of one air purifier, normally we will check the quantity and quality of the air filters inside it, as well as the air filter types. The Medify MA-440 is a mid-range air purifier, with the most powerful 4-stage air cleaning system as below.

As a new air purifier from Medify Air, the Medify MA-440 isn’t sent to be certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for ozone emission safety. However, you shouldn’t worry about the standard of a Medify Air air purifier, as they have a lot of devices guaranteed by the CARB, like Medify MA-40 or Medify MA-112.

For the Medify MA-440, I run a performance test in an area of 200 square feet, and let it run for 1 hour. I also used the Boneco P400 and Oreck AirInstinct to compare with the result of our today unit. The result, Medify MA-440 is truly the best performer, with the highest efficiency of 99.95% for trapping any particles down to 0.3 microns.

Sadly, there is one downside for such high quality – the filter replacement cost. You need to spend $124 for a set of filters for this Medify MA-440, and it only lasts for 3000 hours, or 6 month. So to say, the filter cost of two years can be higher than the upfront cost.

Medify MA-440 Room Coverage

The Medify MA-440 is recommended to use in rooms of 350 square feet by the manufacturer for maximum ACH rating, which is slightly less than the Medify MA-40.

The ACH of Medify MA-440 is 2X to 4X. If the Medify MA-440 does only two exchanges in 1 hour, it can cover a space of 700 square feet.

The CADR of Medify MA-440 is 176 cfm in general. It is quite suitable for the room coverage, though.

Medify MA-440 Sound

Finally, there is one air purifier that Medify Air marketed as “surprisingly quiet”. Medify Air said that they use the DC motor for whisper quiet performance, instead of the old AC motor. It will reduce the fan power a little bit, but it can trim down the noise much better.

If you run this air purifier on highest speed, the noise level is only 55 decibels (db), which is a lot better than the low-range Medify MA-18 or Medify MA-Smart. However, it isn’t as quiet as the newest Medify MA-25.

Moreover, you won’t need to worry about the actual noise level, because the Medify MA-440 uses up to 16 different relaxing sounds to keep you calm and pleasant as you work or sleep. It has white noise, pink noise and brown noise in several categories like ocean, rain or even spa and medication.

Medify MA-440 Power Consumption

One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” In fact, air purifier must be used for a long time to be efficient. And power consumption is one important criteria to review if this air purifier is good or not.

You can dim the tablet light and reduce the fan speed at the same time using the Sleep Mode. It is the most effective mode to run while sleeping.
