Initially, the Rowenta PU6020 looks easily similar to its compact brother – the Rowenta PU4020. You can see the signs of German style in this air purifier like strong and practical design, combining with large base and firm seal. An air purifier is designed for the strength, not for catching any eyes.

That’s not to say that I don’t like the design of Rowenta PU6020. Let’s be straight, this air purifier is too big for most general users, so you should make sure to use it for a large room.

Rowenta PU6020 has a simple bottom-to-top air flow system concept, with the air intake behind the front plate. On the top, we have a stylish air outlet, with wavy grills. You can adjust the position of the air outlet grill manually. Rowenta recommends to set the angle to 45° for optimum performance, and 90° for maximum performance.

This air purifier remains the old control panel from its little brother, but in my opinion, this is a good and simple control panel to use.

This mechanical air filter consists of many minuscule granules made of nanoporous materials. Inside these pores, it is coated with probe molecules, which chemically react with formaldehyde, resulting in a permanent destruction.

According to Rowenta, this technology is much better than the active carbon filter, as it destroys the formaldehyde instead of just trapping it. You can even see if it works, because the chemical reaction causes the yellow granules inside the filter turn to brown. Moreover, there is a color chart on the filter to help you understand when to change the air filter.

Talking about the raw performance, I tested the Rowenta Intense Pure Air XL PU6020U2, together with the Trusens Z-3000, Vornado PCO375DC, Bissell air320 and Oransi OV200, in the same room size of 150 square feet. As you can see, all Rowenta air purifiers came with high efficiency, with our today reviewed Rowenta PU6020 scored 99.93% for trapping any particles down to 0.3 microns.
