Honeywell HPA020B Design and Size

Well, even for a new cube design language, Honeywell HPA020B is still loyal with a side-to-side airflow system. That’s it; you will have an air intake grill from the front and an air outlet grill on top of this air purifier. This is clearly the best choice for maximizing the fan’s power.

Back to the size: at only 11 inches tall, the Honeywell HPA020B can be placed anywhere in your home, including your table, work desk, or shelf. Also, with a mostly plastic build, the Honeywell HPA020B is only 4.8 lbs, which is nearly the same as the Blue Pure 411, and can be the most lightweight true HEPA air purifier in the world. The Levoit LV-H132 and Honeywell HPA060 use True HEPA filters, but they weigh a bit more (the LV-H132 is 6 lbs and the HPA060 is 6.4 lbs).

There is one switch on the top of this air purifier that allows you to manually change the fan speed. Also, there are two LED indicators for filter replacement.

Honeywell HPA020B Filters

Though it is only $79, the Honeywell HPA020B has the same 2-stage air cleaning system as any other powerful Honeywell air purifier.

1. Pre-filter – The pre-filter has Activated Carbon filter in it. This will both help adsorb VOCs, gases, odors and trap larger particles. You will need to replace this filter after 3 months of usage.
2. True HEPA filter – The Honeywell HPA020B makes use of a dedicated True HEPA filter to capture up to 99.97% of as small as 0.3 microns of contaminant particles like pet dander, mold, viruses, bacteria, and pollen.

Honeywell HPA020B uses a powerful True HEPA filter that even matches the most high-end air purifiers. Also, the new HRF-G1 filter is tested to have the same high efficiency as the HRF-R3 air filter in the Honeywell HPA300. With this air purifier, you will no longer inhale any harmful microscopic particles.

It is extremely difficult to evaluate small air purifiers. I had to set up a small room of only 100 square feet and run this Honeywell HPA020B for at least one hour. The testing samples in this case are Honeywell HFD-010 and GermGuardian AC4150, which are both in the same price range as our Honeywell HPA020B. The result, Honeywell HPA020B, had the highest efficiency of 99.7% for any particles as small as 0.3 microns in size. The Honeywell HFD-010 had a lower efficiency of 74%, and the GermGuardian AC4150 was only 80%.

Regardless of the final performance result, keep in mind that it is only a 100-square-foot room. If you use this air purifier in a much larger room, the efficiency will drop significantly.

Honeywell HPA020B is only $79, so it is meant to be used in a small room. With a room coverage of 80 square feet, this air purifier is similar to other bedroom-centric devices like the Honeywell HPA060 or Levoit LV-H132.

The ACH of Honeywell HPA020B is 5x. With this high air changes per hour rating, Honeywell HPA020B can clean your room every 12 minutes.

The CADR of Honeywell HPA020B is 63 Dust/ 53 Smoke/ 53 Pollen (cfm). The CADR rating is quite similar to that of the Honeywell HPA060, making this air purifier effective in a room of 80 square feet.

Honeywell HPA020B Sound

As a bedroom-centric air purifier, the Honeywell HPA020B is much quieter than the HPA060, which is really a plus for this air purifier.

With only 3 fan speeds, the air purifier will make hardly any sound at the lowest setting. Even at the highest setting, the noise level is easy to ignore.

It doesn’t have free shipping like Rabbit Air or Alen, and you must notify customer service within one business day of any problems with a third-party shipping service like USPS or FedEx. Otherwise, it will not accept liability for any merchandise damage during transit. Also, the shipment can take up to 10 business days from the date that the order is shipped.

The hardest part is when you want to return one Honeywell air purifier, as you only have 30 days from the date you receive your item to process your return. If there is no transit damage or workmanship defects, you won’t receive the shipping charge (on both the original shipping charge and the return shipping charge) and will have to pay a 10–30% re-stocking fee.
