Boneco is a Swiss brand with an origin of more than 50 years. As a big air purifier brand with lots of air purifier subsidiaries below, the company only manufactures high-quality products with unique and innovative air filtration system. Today, we will read the Boneco W200 Review, to learn about one of the most distinctive air purifiers in the world.

Boneco W200 Price
Don’t mistake the air washer series with the Hybrid air purifiers in the same Boneco family. Besides the potential humidifier function, the air washer does only “wash”, not filter the air out of ultra-fine particles, just like the common HEPA filter or ionizer. As a result, it keeps the price to be as low as possible, especially when you don’t need to change the air filter.
As the first member of the family to appear on Amazon, it seems Boneco just only makes survey to see whether the device is reasonable for the North America market. After the Boneco W200, we can expect the Boneco W300 and Boneco W400 in the near future.
Boneco W200 comes with a price that can shame the Sharp KC-850U, with only $270 (or €249) in official Boneco website. You can also find the Boneco W300 online, which is a bit more expensive than our today unit, with nearly 3 times the water tank capacity.
However, there is a drop in price of both Sharp KC-850U and Sharp KC-860U, and with the real True HEPA filter, these devices can actually help with serious allergies. For the price you can also get the Dyson Pure Cool Tower with discounted price from our site, with an additional cooling fan power. Or if you prefer other air purifier systems, you should check the Medify MA-40 or Oransi Finn.
But hey, you still want an unique air washer? Come and get one to see the difference between Boneco W200 and normal air purifiers.

Boneco W200 Design and Size
Its look is less dynamic than the flagship of Philips, though, which has a richer-feature display for air quality index. However, the device is sleek with its cubic design, and the dimensions of only 16 inches in height. As such, the device is quite sturdy and strong to stand on the ground.
As an air washer, the Boneco W200 runs an inverse air flow direction, from top to bottom. The air outlet can be found from both sides, and Boneco uses perforated holes to make the air grills. Remember, the top air grill is air inlet, so don’t breathe from there.
Maintenance for the Boneco W200 is pretty simple, you need to remove the whole body (including of top air inlet and the fan) outside of the water base, thanks to a cover key from the back. Then, you can fill in water in the base, and do the whole process to put the body back. The evaporator mat (wrapped the drum, or spinning discs) is made of polyethylene, and it can be washed.
Boneco W200 only weighs 11 lbs, not including maximum of 1.2 gallons of water. It has two convenient handles from both sides, where you can lift the air purifier easily.

Boneco W200 Filters
The Boneco W200 is an air washer, which is quite different from normal air purifier. It uses an evaporator mat to purify and humidify the air. Below is the air filtration system of Boneco W200.
- Boneco Air Washer System – The textured evaporated mats turn in the water, to add moisture to the air. It also uses the water to wash the air from impurities (like dust, pollen and odors).
Basically the Boneco W200 is much more of an air humidifier, rather than air purifier. During the humidifying process, the Boneco W200 can remove any allergens in the air. Such hybrid process is really clever, which has been popular in Europe for years, but only jumped into the U.S market recently.
Just like so many special air purifiers reviewed in Breathe Quality, I don’t make a test for the Boneco W200. The hybrid air purifying system of this air purifier is a lot different from the Sharp KC-850U, so if you need a proper capture with HEPA filter, you should buy the device of Sharp.

Boneco W200 Sound
The very nature of an air washer can go totally fanless, and in such case, the noise level can be extremely low. Boneco W200, however, is like an evaporative humidifier, so it still uses an internal fan to pull and push the air. For the advantage, Boneco W200 can push air into every corner of the room, and it is even suggested for a large room. The downside is the air washer will produce higher noise level.
But you don’t need to worry about the technology of Boneco. The Swiss brand can trim down the noise level to as low as 27 decibels (db), which is even lower than the whisper. Technically, you won’t hear the air washer operate.
Even if you run Boneco W200 on highest speed, the noise level is only 43 decibels. Such noise level only appears in libraries, and you can enjoy the highest speed even when sleeping. Such a gold feature!

Boneco W200 Power Consumption
One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” because we need to run an air purifier for a constant long time, and power consumption is really a thing to consider.
The air washer of Boneco can be run with the rated power as low as 12 watts, and the highest power consumption would be only 23 watts. Such power consumption won’t cost you much.
If you run the Boneco W200 all-year round, 8 hours per day, you will need to pay only $4 to $8.

Boneco W200 Additional Features
As the entry-level air washer of Boneco family, Boneco W200 comes without any additional features. There is only one dial to change the fan speed, with only 2 fan speeds.
We also have one LED indicator to check the water bank is empty or not. The water bank holds 1.2 gallons of water, so it can run in a whole day without replacing.
