The Airpura UV700 is honestly the best air purifier for viruses, thanks to its massive 18W UV-C lamp. Not the most affordable option on the market, but it offers a genuinely comprehensive filtration stack that few residential rivals can match. Founded in 2004 in Quebec by Helder Pedro, Airpura remains committed to developing solutions that bring clean indoor air to people around the world with the belief that clean air is a right, not a privilege. The Airpura UV700 review is specially made for people who want a solution to deal with mold, mildew and viruses.
Other Airpura’s Air Purifier Reviews:
Airpura UV700 Price
This review starts with context. Not in the sense of reviewing the wrong model, but in that Airpura has a sibling unit, the Airpura R700, that shares almost every component with the Airpura UV700 and will appear in the same search results for most buyers. Buy this if you want to save $250, especially when you don’t need a solution for indoor viruses.
Therefore, the Airpura UV700 is available with the germicidal upgrade, whereas the R700 is the baseline without it. What these two units share is a housing, motor, carbon bed, and True HEPA filter. Actually, other than the UV-C lamp, this is the same underlying machine as the Airpura UV600, the original model in this line.
Well, for the price, you can easily guess the Airpura UV700 starts from $1249, and Airpura is slowly clearing the old Airpura UV600 out of stock. That said, if you do commit to the higher price of the flagship Airpura air purifiers, the Airpura UV700 makes more sense for being only $100 more expensive.
The Airpura UV700 is more or less expensive than the IQAir GC MultiGas, despite competing in different categories (the Airpura C700 and Airpura T700 are marketed more toward smoke purification). The main competitors are the IQAir HealthPro Plus and IQAir HealthPro Compact, but both of them have subpar performance in comparison to the Airpura UV700.

Airpura UV700 Design and Size
By now, I suspect the engineers at Airpura operate on a strict no-compromise brief, where an air purifier priced significantly above the category average seems perfectly reasonable given what it delivers. Because to anyone used to budget air purifiers, the price feels like a gut punch – although in this case a justified one, since the build quality is in a different league entirely.
This is also typical of high-end air purifiers, where manufacturers deliberately keep the control interface minimal: a single rotary speed dial, no digital readout, no companion app, and no Wi-Fi integration. At Breathe Quality, we don’t think this is the best approach, but Airpura continues to stick with this design concept.
One notable divergence from the standard Airpura R700 is the addition of an UV lamp housing inside the sealed filter chamber. The reason for the internal placement is straightforward: UV-C radiation is harmful to skin and eyes, so the lamp must be fully shielded during operation.
This does mean that replacing the UV lamp requires opening the unit, which is slightly more involved than swapping a pre-filter – though Airpura’s tool-free filter access design makes it manageable for most users.
Worth noting: the powder-coated steel body does not off-gas, and with electrical components housed in a sealed chamber separate from the airstream, the Airpura UV700 does not introduce any new contaminants into the air it is cleaning – a consideration that matters most to chemically sensitive users.
Other than that, the Airpura UV700 is similar to the other models in the “700” series, standing 23 inches tall and 15 inches wide. It features a 360° airflow system and includes four casters to support its 45-lb weight.

Airpura UV700 Filters
When we evaluate an air purifier’s performance, the number of filters and the air filter types it uses can tell us a lot. The Airpura UV700 marks a 4-stage air cleaning process, which inherits from the previous Airpura UV600.
- Pre-filter – To protect the main filter, Airpura UV700 uses a poly pre-filter, which can trap large particles such as dust and hair. It can be vacuumed clean and should be changed every 12 months.
- Activated Carbon filter – You get a powerful Activated Carbon filter in this Airpura UV700, to adsorb any types of household chemicals, smoke, odors and even Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). It is 18 lbs in weight, containing coconut shell carbon.
- True HEPA filter – The Airpura UV700 also features the top-class H13 True HEPA filter of this company, which can deal with 99.97% of any airborne particles ≥ 0.3 microns.
- UV-C light filter – The last line of defense for the Airpura UV700, and also the selling point for this product. You need the potent UV light technology to remove disease-causing viruses, bacteria and mold.
The Airpura UV700 shares the same internal parts as the Airpura R700, with the additional UV-C germicidal lamp from the previous Airpura UV600. It destroys most common viruses on the surface of the HEPA filter and renders them inactive. The UV germicidal technology is a valuable addition to air purification, and Airpura proves that it is among the most innovative brands on the market.
We make a simple comparison table for you to see whether the Airpura UV700 is worth buying over the previous UV600.
| Name | Airpura UV614 | Airpura R700 | Airpura UV700 | Airpura UV714 |
| Filter | Super HEPA filter | True HEPA filter | True HEPA filter (same as R700) | Super HEPA filter |
| CADR (free flow) | 560 cfm | 635 cfm | 635 cfm | 635 cfm |
| CADR (real test) | 433 cfm | 515 cfm | 515 cfm | 515 cfm |
The Airpura UV700 performs similarly to other Airpura air purifiers, using the same filters, as all Airpura models can use the same filter set, except for the UV-C lamp, which is only available in the Airpura UV700 and Airpura P700.

For the annual filter cost, the Airpura UV700 will use the same filter set as the R700. The additional UV-C lamp does add up the cost, about 25% more as it is expected to last 10000 hours.

Airpura UV700 Room Coverage
The Airpura UV700 is recommended for rooms up to 2,500 square feet, representing a 25% increase in capacity compared to the Airpura UV600. Note that Airpura does not submit its air purifiers for AHAM testing, so the actual room coverage is likely smaller.
The ACH of Airpura UV700 is 2X. Meaning it will clean the manufacturer’s suggested room size two times per hour, or every 30 minutes.
The CADR of Airpura UV700 is 635 cfm in general. Airpura air purifiers are currently the highest fan power ones on the market.

Airpura UV700 Sound
The Airpura UV700 runs at higher fan speed than the previous Airpura UV600, but thanks to a much more efficient motor, it runs at the same noise level. At 30 dB, the lowest speed of the Airpura UV700 is just like a whisper.
On highest speed, the Airpura UV700 can caps at 68 decibels, and we recommend to run at medium setting for bedroom.

Airpura UV700 Power Consumption
In Breathe Quality, one of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?”. In fact, an air purifier needs to run for a long time (usually more than 8 hours) to be efficient, and therefore, power consumption is an important criteria to decide which air purifier to buy.
The power consumption of the Airpura UV700 will be a little bit higher than normal Airpura air purifiers, due to the additional UV-C lamp. Its power consumption is 136 to 138 watts, depending on which lamp option you got from Airpura store.
Running the Airpura UV600 at least 8 hours per day, you need to pay $60 annually.

Airpura UV700 Additional Features
Both the Airpura and Austin Air families are saying no to any kinds of additional features. It seems that the high-end air purifiers are mostly for air purification, not for some flashy features to show off. You shouldn’t be surprise if your Airpura UV700 doesn’t have any additional features.
There won’t be even the filter replacement indicator or the Timer. There is only one manual switch to change the fan speed of this machine.

Our verdict
The Airpura UV700 is a lower-tier flagship model that adds a UV-C germicidal lamp to target viruses. Depending on your environment, it can be a more premium option than its standard counterparts.
