AeraMax is the air purifier brand name of Fellowes, an American family business that exists for more than 100 years, providing the most reliable air purifiers worldwide. As the original version of the AeraMax 200, we can easily imagine how the AeraMax Baby DB55 works. But still, let’s check our AeraMax Baby DB55 Review for an in-depth guide of this air purifier.
Other AeraMax’s Air Purifier Reviews:
AeraMax Baby DB55 Price
The original AeraMax Baby DB55 is a good looking device, with a large and white body, although we’re yet to be convinced by its high-end air filtration system inside.
It is on low stock now, so if you really fall in love with the color option, you should grab it quickly. Otherwise, you can look for the AeraMax 200 instead. The AeraMax Baby DB55 is also an upgrade of the first AeraMax Baby DB5, that doubles the suggested room size.
The official price tag of this AeraMax Baby DB55 is just $229. You are guaranteed to get a much better deal in our below link.
This air purifier is having a stiff competition with the top ones like Winix 5500-2, AIRMEGA 200M or Coway AP-1512HH. It is also not much cheaper than the AeraMax 300, so does it offer enough value over AeraMax’s other offerings? Time to find out.

AeraMax Baby DB55 Design and Size
|AeraMax 200/190/DX55/Baby DB55||AeraMax 100/90/DX5/Baby DB5||AeraMax 300/290/DX95|
The console air purifier AeraMax Baby DB55 is taking the same approach as the AeraMax 200, to increase the body’s size to hold bigger fan as well as broader air filters. Commonly it will increase the efficiency of the air filtration system.
With almost three consecutive launches of the middle personal air purifier series, AeraMax now has a clearly defined design language for this air purifier. The whole-plastic device is 20.5 inches in height, and 13 inches in width. It is shorter than the AeraMax 100 and Baby DB5, but a lot bigger.
It uses the bottom-to-top air flow system concept, just like common console air purifiers. The top air vent is painted with white, instead of black like in AeraMax 200 and 190 versions.
You will take the filter tray from the side of the AeraMax Baby DB55, which is easier to install and uninstall the filter. It also improves the aesthetic of the overall minimalism design concept.
The usual control panel can be found on front, in the same direction as where you take out the filter tray.
AeraMax Baby DB55 weighs just 9.9 lbs, and you can pick it up simply with the convenient handle from the back.

AeraMax Baby DB55 Filters
When we decide to buy an air purifier, we need to know about the filtration process and air filter types are used. The AeraMax Baby DB55 uses the typical 4-stage air cleaning system from any AeraMax air purifiers.
- Activated Carbon Filter – First, AeraMax Baby DB55 uses an Activated Carbon filter to act as a pre-filter, and can capture both large particles and household odors, pet odors, cooking odor and cigarette smoke.
- True HEPA filter – Next, all airborne contaminants must rest in the True HEPA filter of this air purifier, with a high efficiency of trapping 99.97% of any particles as small as 0.3 microns like pollen, ragweed and other allergens, viruses, germs, dust mites, mold spores, and pet dander.
- AeraSafe Antimicrobial Treatment – The built-in protection right in the surface of its True HEPA filter, to prevent the growth of odor-causing bacteria, mildew, and fungi.
- PlasmaTrue Technology – This is one kind of ionizer, which creates an ionized field to help safely remove airborne pollutants. Can be switched on/off.
AeraMax Baby DB55 has a good air filtration system, with signature PlasmaTrue technology and True HEPA filter with anti-microbial treatment coating. Fellows has done a good job to make the in-house air filter with great efficiency, but this air purifier is too similar to the predecessor – AeraMax Baby DB5. For a device that costs double, we expect a lot more.
However, I must remind you that you don’t need to worry about the ionizer. AeraMax Baby DB55 is certified by both the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, to be safety to use for infants and newborns. Also, you can turn off the PlasmaTrue feature for 100% ozone-free.
Just like the previous model, I ran the same test for AeraMax Baby DB55 as the AeraMax 200. So you can use the below result for the device, because they are actually the same air purifier model. The device was testing against Honeywell HPA200, Honeywell AirGenius 4, Levoit LV-PUR131 to help you compare the device with air purifiers in the same price point. AeraMax Baby DB55, with low fan power, had an efficiency of only 99.9%.
You need to change the filter every 12 months, with the cost of only $42. It is really cheap for a high-quality True HEPA filter with antimicrobial treatment, and I’m happy to use the AeraMax filter even in my DIY air purifiers.

AeraMax Baby DB55 is an air purifier for baby’s room and nursery, so it needs to have silent operation. So far, the noise level ranges from 35 to 55 decibels (db), with the lowest speed being quieter than library mode. AeraMax Baby DB55 Additional Features
The AeraSmart technology, which is Smart Sensor of AeraMax Baby DB55 is still the most concerned additional feature up until now. It can adjust the fan speed accordingly to the environment’s need, and it also gives feedback on the air quality display.
AeraMax Baby DB55 has an unique Aera+ Mode, which is the only button that you need to increase the air turnover rate, and clean your room much faster. This function is somehow like the Turbo Mode from Honeywell HPA200, or Quick Clean Mode in Sharp FP-F50UW or Sharp FP-F60UW.
