Whirlpool is still the closest follower of Honeywell in the field of air purifiers. As a leader in major home appliances for 100 years, the American brand knows exactly what they should do to gain upper advantage in the air purifier industry. In this Whirlpool WPT60 Review, we will look at an air purifier that isn’t mind-blowing, but isn’t dud either.
Other Whirlpool’s Air Purifier Reviews:
Whirlpool WPT60 Price
Whirlpool WPT60 is a companion to the recently launched, and well-received, Whirlpool WPT80 and a lookalike for the perennial favorite Whirlpool APT40010R. But don’t, for a single moment, labor under the illusion that it is a direct competitor for, or update of, the Whirlpool APT40010R.
With an asking price of $115 direct from Aroma website (the distributor of Whirlpool air purifiers), and as little as our deal below on Amazon, it’s obviously a budget buy.
It is aimed at people who want a budget air purifier for personal use only. In this niche, this Whirlpool WPT60 is clearly the main follower of the Honeywell HFD280B. But with a True HEPA filter inside, the main contenders that can attract people away from this air purifier are the Honeywell HPA060, Levoit LV-H132 and of course, the new Levoit Vista 200.
The list of best budget air purifiers can go on, but who like a sleek and compact tower air purifier, could resist the elegance of Whirlpool WPT60?

Whirlpool WPT60 Design and Size
The Whirlpool WPT60 is taking aim at the low-range air purifier market, but with the well-balance of the air grill and the textile control panel, it doesn’t look like a lower-end Whirlpool APT40010R. Its appearance is better than ever, and you will need that, especially when the Korean air purifiers are more and more appealing.
This air purifier comes in two colors. My review sample was the black option, which is really more luxury than even the GermGuardian AC4300BPTCA and SilverOnyx. These aforementioned air purifiers are also the modern type, so I consider that as a great compliment for the Whirlpool WPT60B’s color.
The other option of this air purifier is the traditional white, which is really more blue than white and a nice enough shade. It is called Whirlpool WPT60P, and if you prefer this option you can get from the link below.
The outer shell is shiny and we found it rather attractive to greasy fingermarks. The back has a good finish, too. This Whirlpool WPT60 is only 17 inches in height and 7 inches in width, which is smaller than even the compact ones like Honeywell HFD280B or Coway AP-1216L.
Its vein runs from the back air intake grill to the front air outlet, which is still the most popular air flow system concept for tower air purifier at the moment. There are high-end machines with 360° air intake but clearly our Whirlpool WPT60 is not one of them.
The dominant feature of the Whirlpool WPT60 is its new control panel, which occupies on top of the device. There is a good array of nicely-spaced buttons sitting above this.
The Whirlpool WPT60 weighs only 6.6 lbs, such weight that you can carry it around your home easily.

Whirlpool WPT60 Filters
To check the performance of one air purifier, you need to know about the quantity of the air filtration system, as well as the air filter types being used. The Whirlpool WPT60 makes use of the traditional 2-stage air cleaning system in Whirlpool family.
- Activated Carbon filter – Cover the HEPA filter is the layer of Activated Carbon filter, to help adsorb the odors, smoke and VOCs before the polluted air reaches the HEPA filter.
- True HEPA filter – We will have here a True HEPA filter, to capture 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns, such as dust, pet dander, pollen, tobacco smoke, fabric fibers and mold spores.
Just like the new console air purifier Whirlpool WP500, Whirlpool WPT60 has a mechanical latch front grill which acts like a pre-filter to trap the large objects of pollutants, like hair, lint and fur. It has a safety switch to open and close easily.
Running this air purifier everyday is a breeze. With the True HEPA filter that is attached with the so-called Synthetic-based filter membrane and a Whishield Anti-bacteria Activated Carbon filter, the Whirlpool WPT60 can help you overcome your allergies by removing 99.97% of any airborne particles down to 0.3 microns.
To test the performance of this Whirlpool WPT60, I only set the conditions as a room of 100 square feet, and the duration of 1 hour. This Whirlpool WPT60 run against its top competitors, like the Honeywell HFD280B, GermGuardian AC4825 and Blue Pure 411. As the result, the Whirlpool WPT60 and GermGuardian AC4825 were the best performers, as they can clean a room of 100 square feet with high efficiency of trapping 99.9% any particles down to 0.3 microns. The Blue Pure 411 reduced to only 99.5% and the Honeywell HFD280B was just 90%.
The Whirlpool WPT60 uses a Whishield anti-bacterial Activated Carbon filter that can lasts for only 3 months, while the True HEPA filter can last for one full year. A package of 4 carbon filters will cost you $31, and the True HEPA filter is $39. Remember that the air filter cost of things like Levoit LV-H132 and GermGuardian AC5000 is much less than the Whirlpool WPT60, but these air filters can only last for 6 to 8 months.

Whirlpool WPT60 Room Coverage
As the most budget air purifier of Whirlpool, we can’t expect the Whirlpool WPT60 to work like a powerhouse in a large room. So to say, the Whirlpool WPT60 has a modest room coverage of only 120 square feet.
The ACH of Whirlpool WPT60 is 5x. Even for a budget air purifier like Whirlpool WPT60, it still can exchange the air in your room 5 times in 1 hour.
The CADR of Whirlpool WPT60 is 77 cfm in general. This CADR rating is still better than the Levoit LV-H132 or Honeywell HPA020B. Higher CADR rating means the quicker your air purifier will clean your room.

Whirlpool WPT60 Sound
Again, we have here the Quiet Partner system, an in-house technology to guarantee the silent operation for Whirlpool electronic appliances, including of the Whirlpool WPT60. And with a much lower fan power, we can expect the quietness from this air purifier.
On the lowest speed, the Whirlpool WPT60 has a noise level of only 35 decibels, which is even quieter than the noise level of library. For an air purifier mainly in bedroom, the silent operation is truly valuable.

Whirlpool WPT60 Power Consumption
One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” An air purifier is meant to run for a long time to be efficient, that’s why many air purifier brands consider the energy-saving standard, mostly in the rate of Energy Star, is one important selling point.
Fortunately, with a much lower fan power, the Whirlpool WPT60 stays on 32 watts only. For an Energy Star air purifier, the power consumption of this Whirlpool WPT60 is reasonable, but still higher than the high-end Rabbit Air BioGS 2.0 (29 watts). However, do you know the air purifier from Rabbit Air will cost you at least 3 times this Whirlpool WPT60?
For using a Whirlpool WPT60 8 hours per day, it would cost you just $12 per year.

Whirlpool WPT60 Additional Features
As a traditional tower air purifier, the Whirlpool WPT60 is much likely the same as the Honeywell HFD280B or GermGuardian AC5300, and there aren’t any Smart features in this air purifier.
Just like the Whirlpool WP500, Whirlpool WPT60 brings back the Sleep Mode function from the Whirlpool APT40010R. It will allow your air purifier to run at the lowest sound operation, and you can set a timer for this mode, up to 8 hours. Moreover, you can set a separate timer, to turn off this air purifier on schedule.
If your family has a child, you can enjoy the fresh air uninterruptedly thanks to the Child Lock function. It will lock all the current settings until you press the unlock button again.
Finally, we still have the LED indicator for filter replacement.
Whirlpool WPT60 Customer Service
Whirlpool is a global leader in making major home appliances, and with more than 92000 employees and 65 manufacturing and technology research centers, this company dedicates a lot in the customer service field. You can easily reach them via email at email@example.com and/or firstname.lastname@example.org, or via phone at 866-666-1168.
The warranty policy of Whirlpool is only for one year. From the second through fifth year, the limited warranty is only on the air purifier motor. Also, the Aroma International Limited (which covers the supply and warranty for Whirlpool air purifiers) will not pay when your air purifier is used in other than normal, single-family household use. How they can check that is still unknown.
The Whirlpool WPT60 is not a mind-blowing air purifier, but it is still great for the price. Its True HEPA filter and anti-microbial carbon filter are the real deals to get, which can even match the performance of much more expensive air purifiers.
