Dyson Pure Cool Tower Filters

The Dyson Pure Cool Tower TP01 will sport the same air cleaning system as any first generation models, like Dyson Pure Cool Link and Dyson Pure Hot+Cool, just only with bigger filter’s size.

1. True HEPA filter – With the glass HEPA filter, the Dyson Pure Cool Tower is able to capture 99.97% all airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns, including pollen, bacteria and pet dander.
2. Activated Carbon filter – Removes household odors, smoke and gases.

The HEPA filter do all the job of trapping contaminants, and we can believe that Dyson Pure Cool Tower will finish any difficult tasks, especially when this company only makes high-quality air filter. In real-world use, combined with the high fan power, Dyson Pure Cool Tower can go head-to-head with any tough opponents, in terms of power alone.

I did a simple test for this Dyson Pure Cool Tower, in a room of 400 square feet and within 1 hour. 400 square feet is really large space for any device to test, especially when the time is as tight as 1 hour. To compare the performance, I will use 3 similar devices in the same price range: Vornado PCO575DC, Levoit EverestAir, Winix XQ and Medify MA-112. You can see the below chart for the final result, the Dyson Pure Cool Tower is the worst one.

With bigger size, the Dyson Pure Cool Tower needs a new air filter, and it will cost you $69 for one filter. You can get one on Amazon for (occasionally) cheaper price. Remember to change the air filter once a year.

Dyson Pure Cool Tower Room Coverage

There is no suggestion for room size in Dyson website, but it is recommended for room of 126 square feet by the Energy Star.

Because this air purifier is also a fan, we don’t have the ACH and CADR ratings. Dyson told that high CADR rating doesn’t mean better, so it doesn’t quote any CADR score for its products.

The ACH of Dyson Pure Cool Tower is 4X. However, if you are running the air purifier in 400 square feet, expect it to clean for only once per hour.

The CADR of Dyson Pure Cool Tower is 94 Dust/ 81 Smoke/ 102 Pollen (cfm). It is far too low for an air purifier in this price range. The maximum airflow of the Dyson Pure Cool Tower is up to 114 gallons per second at max setting, equal 920 cfm, but this is its cooling fan power. It does help with the Dyson Pure Cool Tower’s air purifying process, but not much.

Dyson Pure Cool Tower Sound

With such a strong fan power, the Dyson Pure Cool Tower only produces average noise for your room, as the fan is designed to be super quiet. At the lowest setting, you can hardly any sound from this air purifier, because the noise level is only 40 decibels (dB), which is exactly the common noise level of library.

On highest speed, the noise level is a bit higher than any Dyson desktop models, and it can reach 62.2 decibels. To be honest, with such impressive airflow, you need to expect such noise at maximum power. However, such noise is only white noise, and sometimes it can help you sleep better.

Dyson Pure Cool Tower Power Consumption

Dyson Pure Cool Tower Additional Features

Well, just like the Dyson Pure Cool Link, beside the main feature to be an air purifier, the Dyson Pure Cool Tower is also a regular fan. You will get any additional features for a fan to work well, for example the oscillation setting to move the air back and forth, as well as 10 fan speed settings with uninterrupted stream of purified airflow (named Air Multiplier technology).
