Airpura R700 Price

The “R” air purifier of Airpura, commonly the Airpura R700 and its predecessor – the Airpura R600, is the “regular” air purifier in the lineup. That means this is the baseline air purifier you want to buy, especially when it removes the need of having something like the Airpura H600 previously.

It has the same motor, same HEPA and sometimes same carbon as the flagships of the brand like the Airpura UV700 and Airpura P700. If you find yourself in a special need of high-quality carbon filter, you should look for the Airpura V700, Airpura C700 or Airpura T700.

The Airpura R700 costs $999, which is a significant step-up from the R600. At this price range, being “regular” is far from ideal, and people will argue getting more affordable air purifiers, such as the Austin Air HealthMate Plus or Austin Air Bedroom Machine. It is near the price of the IQAir HealthPro Plus and IQAir HealthPro Compact, but IQAir is always the more popular choice.

So, it’s a hard game for the Airpura R700 – being “regular” on top-tier high-range segment.

Airpura R700 Design and Size

There is no way you can tell the Airpura R700 from others in the same “700” series like the Airpura V700, Airpura C700 or Airpura UV700. They’re all the same from outside, and I guess it’s a more reasonable choice to buy the cheapest like the Airpura R700.

It also looks like the previous Airpura R600, with all-metal, powder-coated steel cabinet housing. The only difference is the Airpura R700 uses felt gasket construction, instead of the traditional neoprene gasket. The front control board also gets a new update, to emphasize that this is a “700” Airpura air purifier.

The Airpura R700 runs the same 360º airflow system concept, which is truly necessary for a mobile air purifier with strong fan power. It stays at the same height as the predecessor, at 23 inches height ad 15 inches width.

The Airpura R00 is also free of any plastic, rubber, silicone, or adhesives. The absence of these materials helps to reduce any off-gassing of chemical vapors, both within the clean air stream and in the unit’s end-of-life phase. It is the air purifier that is built from high-quality materials.

As usual, you need its 4 casters to support on moving the 45-lb air purifier to where you want.

Airpura R700 Filters

When we evaluate an air purifier’s performance, the number of filters and the air filter types it uses can tell us a lot. The Airpura R700 uses the same 3-stage air cleaning system that’s established from the first Airpura R600.

1. Pre-filter – To protect the main filter, Airpura R700 uses a poly pre-filter, which can trap large particles such as pet hair, human hair and large dust. It can be vacuumed clean and should be changed after 1 year.
2. Activated Carbon filter – Airpura R700 uses a powerful Activated Carbon filter, which is 18 lbs in weight, containing coconut shell carbon.
3. True HEPA filter – Airpura R700 packs with a True HEPA filter, and can deal with 99.97% of any contaminant particles as small as 0.3 microns in size.

True HEPA filter is the heart of an air purifier, and the Airpura R700 features the iconic HEPA filter from the brand, with H13 grade. You can upgrade to the H14 Super HEPA filter for a better performance, as it works very well with high fan power from Airpura.

Performance is consistent between Airpura models, as you can use the same H14 Super HEPA in all Airpura models, even in the non-True HEPA air purifiers like the Airpura C700 or Airpura T700. As a result, they will remove 99.99% of all particles down to 0.3 microns, in 1 hour for the hardest Breathe Quality test.

You only need to replace the True HEPA filter of the Airpura R700 once every 5 years, and the carbon filter after 2 years. Normally, the annual filter cost of the Airpura air purifiers is great.

Airpura R700 Room Coverage

The manufacturer’s suggested room coverage for the Airpura R700, as well as other Airpura air purifiers, is 2500 square feet. It is a step up from the Airpura R600.

The ACH of Airpura R700 is 2X. Meaning it will clean the manufacturer’s suggested room size two times per hour, or every 30 minutes.

The CADR of Airpura R700 is 635 cfm in general. Airpura air purifiers are currently the highest fan power ones on the market.

Airpura R700 Sound

You will think of the Airpura R700’s noise level similar to the Airpura V700 – which is advertised as the “quietest solution” by Airpura. However, the lowest noise level of the Airpura R700 is slightly higher at 30 dB, but it is still quieter than the junior Airpura R400.

On highest fan speed, the Airpura R700 operates at 68 decibels, similar to the V700.

Airpura R700 Power Consumption

In Breathe Quality, one of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?”. In fact, an air purifier needs to run for a long time (usually more than 8 hours) to be efficient, and therefore, power consumption is an important criteria to decide which air purifier to buy.

The Airpura R700 consumes only 120 watts like its predecessor – the Airpura R600, despite using a stronger motor to deliver higher CFM.

To run the Airpura R700 8 hours per day, you need to pay up to $43 annually.

Airpura R700 Additional Features

Both the Airpura and Austin Air families are saying no to any kinds of additional features. It seems that the high-end air purifiers are mostly for air purification, not for some flashy features to show off. You shouldn’t be surprise if your Airpura R700 doesn’t have any additional features.

There won’t be even the filter replacement indicator or the Timer. There is only one manual switch to change the fan speed of this machine.
