The Whirlpool WPT60 is a companion to the recently launched and well-received Whirlpool WPT80 and a lookalike for the perennial favorite Whirlpool APT40010R. But don’t, for a single moment, labor under the illusion that it is a direct competitor for, or an update of, the Whirlpool APT40010R.

With an asking price of $115 direct from the Aroma website (the distributor of Whirlpool air purifiers) and as little as our deal below on Amazon, it’s obviously a budget buy.

It is aimed at people who want a budget air purifier for personal use only. In this niche, the Whirlpool WPT60 is clearly the main follower of the Honeywell HFD280B. But with a true HEPA filter inside, the main contenders that can attract people away from this air purifier are the Honeywell HPA060, Levoit LV-H132 and, of course, the new Levoit Vista 200.

The list of the best budget air purifiers can go on, but who likes a sleek and compact tower air purifier could resist the elegance of the Whirlpool WPT60?

Whirlpool WPT60 Design and Size

The Whirlpool WPT60 is aimed at the low-range air purifier market, but with the well-balanced air grill and the textile control panel, it doesn’t look like a lower-end Whirlpool APT40010R. Its appearance is better than ever, and you will need that, especially when the Korean air purifiers become more and more appealing.

This air purifier comes in two colors. My review sample was the black option, which is really more luxurious than even the GermGuardian AC4300BPTCA and SilverOnyx. These aforementioned air purifiers are also of the modern type, so I consider that a great compliment to the Whirlpool WPT60B’s color.

The other option for this air purifier is the traditional white, which is really more blue than white and a nice enough shade. It is called Whirlpool WPT60P, and if you prefer this option, you can get it from the link below.

The outer shell is shiny, and we found it rather attractive to greasy fingermarks. The back has a good finish, too. This Whirlpool WPT60 is only 17 inches in height and 7 inches in width, which is smaller than even compact ones like the Honeywell HFD280B or Coway AP-1216L.

Its vein runs from the back air intake grill to the front air outlet, which is still the most popular airflow system concept for tower air purifiers at the moment. There are high-end machines with 360° air intake, but clearly our Whirlpool WPT60 is not one of them.

The dominant feature of the Whirlpool WPT60 is its new control panel, which occupies the top of the device. There is a good array of nicely spaced buttons sitting above this.

Whirlpool WPT60 Filters

To test the performance of this Whirlpool WPT60, I only set the conditions for a room of 100 square feet and a duration of 1 hour. This Whirlpool WPT60 runs against its top competitors, like the Honeywell HFD280B, GermGuardian AC4825 and Blue Pure 411. As a result, the Whirlpool WPT60 can clean a room of 100 square feet with high efficiency, trapping 99.8% of any particles down to 0.3 microns. The Blue Pure 411 was reduced to only 99.5%, and the Honeywell HFD280B was just 96%.

The Whirlpool WPT60 uses a Whishield anti-bacterial Activated Carbon filter that can last for only 3 months, while the True HEPA filter can last for one full year. A package of four carbon filters will cost you $31; the True HEPA filter is $39. Remember that the air filter cost of things like the Levoit LV-H132 and GermGuardian AC5000 is much less than the Whirlpool WPT60, but these air filters can only last for 6 to 8 months.

Whirlpool WPT60 Room Coverage

As the most budget-friendly air purifier from Whirlpool, we can’t expect the Whirlpool WPT60 to work like a powerhouse in a large room. So to say, the Whirlpool WPT60 has a modest room coverage of only 120 square feet.

The ACH of Whirlpool WPT60 is 5x. Even for a budget air purifier like the Whirlpool WPT60, it can still exchange the air in your room five times in an hour.

The CADR of Whirlpool WPT60 is 86 Dust/ 77 Smoke/ 86 Pollen (cfm). This CADR rating is still better than the Levoit LV-H132 or Honeywell HPA020B. A higher CADR rating means your air purifier will clean your room quicker.

Whirlpool WPT60 Sound

Again, we have here the Quiet Partner system, an in-house technology to guarantee the silent operation of Whirlpool electronic appliances, including the Whirlpool WPT60. And with a much lower fan power, we can expect quietness from this air purifier.

On the lowest speed, the Whirlpool WPT60 has a noise level of only 35 decibels (dB), which is even quieter than the noise level of a library. For an air purifier mainly in the bedroom, the silent operation is truly valuable.

Whirlpool WPT60 Additional Features

As a traditional tower air purifier, the Whirlpool WPT60 is likely the same as the Honeywell HFD280B or GermGuardian AC5300, and there aren’t any Smart features in this air purifier.

Just like the Whirlpool WP500, the Whirlpool WPT60 brings back the Sleep Mode function from the Whirlpool APT40010R. It will allow your air purifier to run at the lowest sound level, and you can set a timer for this mode for up to 8 hours. Moreover, you can set a separate timer to turn off this air purifier on schedule.

If your family has a child, you can enjoy the fresh air uninterruptedly thanks to the Child Lock function. It will lock all the current settings until you press the unlock button again.

The warranty policy of Whirlpool is only for one year. From the second through fifth years, the limited warranty is only on the air purifier motor. Also, Aroma International Limited (which covers the supply and warranty for Whirlpool air purifiers) will not pay when your air purifier is used other than for normal, single-family household use. How the company can know that is still unknown.

The Whirlpool WPT60 is not a mind-blowing air purifier, but it is still great for the price. Its True HEPA filter and anti-microbial carbon filter are the real deals to get, and they can even match the performance of much more expensive air purifiers.
