Elechomes UC3101 Price

Elechomes has delivered a stunning device with the Elechomes UC3101, which combines an attractive price tag with a superb design, and a decent air filtration system to clean your indoor air.

Being the flagship, Elechomes UC3101 is the first device of this company. The Elechomes EPI081 follows right after, which gains much more attention due to the attractive price tag. Also, the new Elechomes EPI236 is ready to be the middle air purifier between two aforementioned models.

Back to our today Elechomes UC3101, we need to spend $199. Note that, the price is varied from different retailers, and I only give you the original price from Elechomes official website. It is discontinued by Elechomes.

The Elechomes UC3101 costs exactly the same as the GermGuardian AC5900WCA and Honeywell 50250. You can also find the Bissell air220, TruSens Z-2000 or Sharp FP-K50UW for around $200, however, I think the best alternatives in this price range are the Honeywell HPA300 and Winix 5500-2, because these two air purifiers offer the highest air cleaning efficiency.

Elechomes UC3101 Design and Size

The sleek Elechomes UC3101 doesn’t look like it’s from a micro brand at all, as it gives me a feeling of the modern Blueair Sense+, which is a premium product for its appearance.

The distinctively front-to-side air flow system concept is really unique. It is far from imagination of anyone who is used to the traditional air purifiers. Elechomes makes their front air inlet in the triangle shape, to improve the charm of the device.

Our today Elechomes UC3101 is made simply from ABS plastic, so even at the height of 19.3 inches and the width of 16.5 inches, it only weighs 19 lbs. Using the handle, you can move it anywhere in your home.

On top, you can see how well the finish of glass control panel is. The PM2.5 display at the center looks clearly, and I like the premium feeling of LED touch panel. Its look and feel are quite similar to the Medify MA-25 and its brother – Medify MA-40.

Elechomes UC3101 Filters

As the direct contender in the most aggressively competitive segment, Elechomes UC3101 uses a better 5-stage air cleaning system as below.

1. Pre-filter – To trap large pollutants like hair, lint and fur. It is washable, and you need to rinse it every 2 months.
2. Anti-bacterial cloth – Effectively kills all bacteria, viruses and mold spores on the surface of the True HEPA filter.
3. True HEPA filter – Filters any PM2.5 particles like dust, pollen, smoke… with high efficiency up to 99.97%.
4. Activated Carbon filter – Minimizes all odors, formaldehyde and benzene.
5. Ion Generator – The ionizer is necessary to improve the overall efficiency of Elechomes UC3101’s air filtration system. Can be switched on/off.

For the first time, Elechomes applies the anti-microbial treatment in their whole air cleaning system. Such treatment is a high-end feature of more expensive devices, mostly found on Winix devices like Winix HR1000. Together with the pre-filter, it can prolong the life time of the main True HEPA filter.

The Elechomes UC3101 also introduces the ionizer, which is an optional feature to improve the overall air cleaning efficiency. However, the Elechomes UC3101 isn’t certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to meet safety standard of ozone emission. That being said, if you have serious asthma or breathing issues, you should turn off this ionizer function.

*Note: Elechomes contacted us and guaranteed that all their air purifiers are legal to be sold in California. At the moment, the products aren’t listing on CARB website, but to honor their claim, I will update the review as soon as possible.

Again, I made the test for this Elechomes UC3101, in a room of 150 square feet and under 1 hour. I also brought the AeraMax 200, Medify MA-Smart and Inofia PM1320 to the test, so you can compare between models in the same price range. Finally, the Elechomes UC3101 secured very high efficiency of trapping any particles as small as 0.3 microns, up to 99.92%.

With the support of the Anti-bacterial cloth, you only need to change the filter set every 12 months, which is double the filter life of Elechomes EPI081. The cost for the filter replacement is $49, which is quite higher than many competitors in the same price range.

Elechomes UC3101 Room Coverage

The Elechomes UC3101 can cover a way much larger space than the compact Elechomes EPI081 and Elechomes EPI236. You can use this air purifier for a room of 350 square feet.

The ACH of Elechomes UC3101 is 2X to 4X. This air purifier will exchange the air in your room every 15 minutes.

The CADR of Elechomes UC3101 is 182 cfm in general. This fan power is quite decent, and only loses to the best air purifiers like Coway AP-1512HH, AIRMEGA 200M or Honeywell HPA300.

Elechomes UC3101 Sound

For an air purifier, one of many selling points is how it can operate in bedroom. Well, by reducing the fan power, Elechomes can make air purifier with truly whisper quiet. Like this Elechomes UC3101, the noise level on lowest speed is only 35 decibels (db), which is even quieter than the library mode.

However, when you run this air purifier on highest speed, the noise level can reach 64 decibels (db), which is fairly noise. Make sure to keep it mostly on lowest speed, or you can’t sleep easily with it.

Elechomes UC3101 Power Consumption

One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” In fact, air purifier must be used for a long time to be efficient. And power consumption is one important criteria to review if this air purifier is good or not.

Elechomes UC3101 has a decent power consumption, to be 65 watts on average. It is even better than many Winix models.

If you run the Elechomes UC3101 for at least 8 hours per day, you will need to pay $23 each year.

Elechomes UC3101 Additional Features

Being the current flagship of Elechomes at the time of writing, the Elechomes UC3101 surely has the Smart Sensor – a competitive additional feature that is even better because this air purifier has dual sensor. That being said, the Elechomes UC3101 is truly accurate for detecting the changes of indoor air quality.

Moreover, with the Smart Sensor, Elechomes UC3101 can activate the Auto Mode, to measure the air quality then adjust the fan speed accordingly. You can check the air quality index by both PM2.5 information and color guide.

Again, we will have the Sleep Mode, which is necessary for an air purifier to be used in bedroom. The Elechomes UC3101 will run at the lowest setting, with all lights from the screen and indicator dim.

Elechomes UC3101 also has many basic settings like a Timer, to schedule the time off between 0 and 8 hours. There is a Child lock function, to prevent accidentally change of settings.

Elechomes UC3101 is a good contender for the low-range segment. But while we love its dual sensor and a powerful 5-stage air cleaning system, we can’t deny that it has many weaknesses, and for that, there are still better options.
