Elechomes EPI236 Price

The budget air purifier segment of the United States is on fire currently with numerous incredible value for money devices available for consumers. Air purifiers don’t need short refresh cycles, but a company needs to have air purifiers that fit all budget options.

Then you now the goal of the Elechomes EPI236, to fill the large gap between the flagship Elechomes UC3101 and Elechomes EPI081. It is really hard for a newcomer to start manufacturing the mid-range devices, so focusing on low-range budget is commonly better.

Elechomes EPI236 Design and Size

It seems urgent need to release a new air purifier doesn’t give Elechomes enough time to make a new design. The Elechomes EPI236, once again, shares the exactly same design as the model EPI236 from Healthlead, which is also a China-based company.

As with most air purifiers in this segment, the Elechomes EPI236 follows the tried and tested cylindrical design. It isn’t too big with 16 inches in height, and 9.4 inches in width. Thanks to the white color, the air purifier looks nice in plastic body, and you can think your air purifier to look eye catchy.

Elechomes EPI236 uses a traditional bottom-to-top air flow system concept, and it has perforated holes for the air intake. The air intake is 360° to increase the efficiency of high fan power.

However, Elechomes EPI236 places the control panel on front rather than top, and in my opinion, it is quite difficult to change the setting, as the air purifier must be put on ground. You’d better switch to Auto Mode and forget controlling this air purifier completely.

Elechomes EPI236 weighs only 7.7 lbs, just half the weight of the Elechomes UC3101. You can move it from room to room quite easily.

Elechomes EPI236 Filters

It seems Elechomes want their new air purifier to be quickly certified as 100% ozone-free, so they only use mechanical air filter in this Elechomes EPI236, which is unlike the first Elechomes UC3101. That said, you will have a simple 3-stage air cleaning system in this Elechomes EPI236.

1. Pre-filter – To trap large pollutants like pet hair, lint and fur.
2. Activated Carbon filter – Eliminates odors and smoke.
3. True HEPA filter – Removes 99.97% of airborne pollutants down to 0.3 microns, such as pet dander, pollen, smoke and more.

Making an all-in-one air filter is trending right now, to simplify the process of changing air filter. You can dispose the old filter and install the new one without any tools required.

I made a simple test for the Elechomes EPI236, in a room of 150 square feet and under 1 hour. I let it run against many popular air purifiers in the same price range, like the Airthereal APH260, Levoit Core P350, Mooka Allo and TruSens Z-1000. Certainly, the Elechomes EPI236 can’t compare with things like Airthereal APH260 or Levoit Core P350, but it is the cheaper air purifier. Beside, the efficiency of 99.7% for trapping any particles down to 0.3 microns is still great to use.

Elechomes charges you around $36 for the new air filter of Elechomes EPI236. You need to replace the filter every 6 month, for optimal performance.

Elechomes EPI236 Room Coverage

Elechomes EPI236 is marketed to be used in large rooms, as the manufacturer suggests to run it in a room of 280 square feet.

The ACH of Elechomes EPI236 is 5X. This air purifier can fully exchange the air in your room 5 times per hour.

The CADR of Elechomes EPI236 is 130 cfm in general. Its fan power is a better sighting in this segment. Yes, it’s a little lower than Levoit Core 300, but the difference in fan power is negligible.

Elechomes EPI236 Sound

Elechomes isn’t a good company to hold the noise level lower than other competitors. The Elechomes EPI236, despite of weaker fan power, bears the same noise level of 35 decibels (db) just like the Elechomes UC3101. Of course, it is quiet, and you won’t notice it running in this mode.

However, things get a little bit unacceptable for the highest speed. Its noise level is now 61 decibels, and no way you can sleep with this mode on.

Elechomes EPI236 Power Consumption
