At Breathe Quality, we decided to bite the bullet and order a few NuWave models for reviews, and here you are the first NuWave OxyPure 47501 review.

NuWave OxyPure 47501 Price

NuWave has been using its OxyPure line to build out purifiers for every room size and budget compared with its filter-free Forever line. And its latest addition finds another way to stand out; while the likes of the OxyPure Zero and OxyPure Smart have nice and distinct model names, this OxyPure opts to instead share its family name with four other purifiers, distinguished only by the word “HEPA” tacked onto the end.

We may be confused about the names of NuWave air purifiers, not only in the 47501 line but also among the brand’s flagships. For the NuWave OxyPure 47501, you may encounter the 47502, 47503 and 47513 models, all of them have the same physical appearance and filtration system.

The NuWave OxyPure 47501 is currently sold at $107, but if you get our below deal for the NuWave OxyPure 47503, which is exactly the same as the 47501, you only get it for $80. It’s 20% OFF the price for a similar product, so why won’t we?

The air purifier is directly against the top choices for the price like the Levoit Core 200S, GermGuardian AC4825, GermGuardian AC3000, Coway Airmega 50 or Honeywell HPA125. Let’s see if the air purifier can win against too many good products, with no famous name (really, even the NuWave name sits hidden on top control panel).

NuWave OxyPure 47501 Design and Size

The NuWave OxyPure 47501 is partly an affordable alternative to NuWave’s own smart line that’s selling for around $500, but for a brand that is relatively new, the design of the NuWave OxyPure 47501 is super off. It’s unlike what you would know from the OxyPure Zero line, like the NuWave OxyPure Zero E500 or NuWave OxyPure Zero E1000.

Instead, NuWave has opted to use the same rough cylindrical tower for the NuWave OxyPure 47501, and as you can read from our previous section, the 47503 and 47513 are identical to the 47501, perhaps from everything.

The base of the unit has a twist-lock Filter Access Lid, which doesn’t protrude too much, so the air purifier won’t wobble a lot when set down on a flat surface. This NuWave OxyPure HEPA is small, as air purifiers go, with dimensions of 7.63 x 7.63 x 16.75 inches, and weighing just 3.55 lbs it’s genuinely light.

One thing that the company chose for its budget model is the wavy air inlet grille. It’s stylish, but it certainly accumulates dust when running. Combined with its natural white color option, the air purifier gets dusty very soon.

Overall, the NuWave OxyPure 47501 gives the vibe of the famous Blue Pure 511 – one-touch control, a cylindrical and simple air purifier. However, it looks and feels like a knock-off, at least that’s what we think at Breathe Quality.

NuWave OxyPure 47501 Filters

As the most budget air purifier from the company, the NuWave OxyPure 47501 only uses a simple 3-in-1 air filter.

1. Pre-filter – The nylon pre-filter can capture larger contaminates like dust, hair and lint.
2. True HEPA filter – The NuWave air purifier uses H13 HEPA filter to capture all ultra-fine particles down to 0.3 microns, with efficiency up to 99.97%.
3. Activated Carbon filter – Deals with pet odors, smoke, VOCs and cooking smells.

The 3-in-1 air filter of the NuWave OxyPure 47501 is pretty barebone, which is very similar to the HEPASilent filter of the Blue Pure 511. And for the performance, the NuWave OxyPure 47501 is great for the price, capturing 99.8% of all particles as small as 0.3 microns, in 1 hour for room of 100 square feet. The performance is below the Coway Airmega 100 and GermGuardian AC3000, but not by much.

We will need the NuWave H0A1 filter for the NuWave OxyPure 47501, and the company requires a full year of operation. This is very generous, and we find NuWave to be a brand very focused on the annual cost of its products.

NuWave OxyPure 47501 Room Coverage

All models in the NuWave OxyPure 47501 are recommended for rooms up to 857 square feet by the manufacturer, but it’s a bit too much for its performance. We recommend to run this air purifier only for 150 to 200 square feet.

The ACH of the NuWave OxyPure 47501 is 5X. If you’re going to use the air purifier in the manufacturer’s suggested room size, the NuWave OxyPure 47501 only exchanges 1 time per hour.

The CADR of the NuWave OxyPure 47501 is 104 Dust/ 84 Smoke/ 114 Pollen (cfm). The company makes a false advertisement on its product page, telling that the NuWave 47501 has 428 cfm power, which is very, very FALSE.

NuWave OxyPure 47501 Sound

The NuWave OxyPure 47501 and its similar brothers are compact air purifiers, so they all have ultra-quiet operation. The company says that their lowest noise level is only 17 decibels (dB), which is below the range that humans can hear.

Even on its highest speed, the noise level is only around 47 decibels, and you can enjoy using this air purifier without worrying about the noise.

NuWave OxyPure 47501 Power Consumption

As one of the most criteria when deciding to buy an air purifier, one of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?”. In fact, an air purifier needs to run for a long time (usually more than 8 hours) to be efficient.

In fact, even with the fan left running continuously – overnight, through the workday, and back again – the NuWave OxyPure 47501 draws a total of just 13.3 watts, and such performance per price is really impressive.

If you’re going to run the NuWave Oxypure 47501 at least 8 hours per day, the annual cost will be $5.7.

NuWave OxyPure 47501 Additional Features

The NuWave OxyPure 47501 is a bare-bones copy of the Blue Pure 511, so it prioritizes simplicity with its one-touch button. It only has 3 fan speeds, nothing more.

If you’re looking for a feature-rich air purifier at this price point, there are lots of similar options, like the GermGuardian AC4825 or GermGuardian AC3000. If you need Wi-Fi capability feature, you should look for the Levoit Core 200S or Levoit Vital 100S, or pay for the newer Blue Pure 511i Max.

All NuWave air purifiers have a 1-year warranty, which is quite short for the expensive models. During this time, they will repair or replace the product for you if it has a defect in materials or workmanship.

Our verdict

The NuWave OxyPure 47501 has a very high annual cost ranking, which is something this product deserves. However, it lacks features, and in a time where others can offer more for less, it’s not easy to choose the NuWave OxyPure budget air purifier.
