InvisiClean Sensa Air Purifier: Trusted Review & Specs

The InvisiClean Sensa (IC-5120) was born in the era many air purifiers are accused to be the culprit of irritating asthma and respiratory issues. Though all air purifiers from this manufacturer are certified by California Air Resources Board (CARB), the “ozone-free” one still creates enough hype. If you are looking for one like this, let’s read InvisiClean Sensa Review to see if this air purifier is for you or not.

It seems the InvisiClean Sensa is completely discontinued, to clear the path for the new budget options like InvisiClean Stella and InvisiClean Mini Aura. If you’re looking for similar performance in the InvisiClean lineup, we recommend to check the InvisiClean Aura.

InvisiClean Sensa ranks B in our air purifier ranking list. We give the biggest and most thorough database of air purifier reviews in the world.

In Breathe Quality, we have reviewed all air purifiers under these sections. Also, we guarantee that:

  • We do give honest reviews (both pros and cons) so anyone will guarantee to have the wisest choices.

InvisiClean claims that the InvisiClean Sensa is their only ozone-free console air purifier, and not skimp on other areas to be able to do it. Many companies claim to get rid of the ozone completely, but don’t always make good on that claim. Yet the InvisiClean Sensa really doesn’t have the ionizer and UV-C light, and it’s still a great air purifier in a lot of other ways too. So should this be your next budget buy, or does it have hidden faults? Find out in our InvisiClean Sensa Review.

InvisiClean Sensa Price

Ozone emission is still one of the biggest complaints people have about their air purifiers, though most of the major air purifier brands comply the certification of safety by CARB. However, the InvisiClean Sensa is the solution of this company for the problem.

While others in the family show off the all-round air filtration system, the InvisiClean Sensa only has the mechanical air filters to purify the air. To secure the price tag from the previous InvisiClean Aura, this air purifier compensates the air sensor from Sharp Electronics to provide a more smart way to control your air purifier.

Like any air purifiers in InvisiClean, the InvisiClean Sensa launched with a fairly low-end price. In the U.S, it officially costs $149, which is $20 higher than the popular InvisiClean Aura. You can easily get it from their website, or on Amazon with a good discount from us.

The InvisiClean Sensa is the direct competitor with the flagships of other brands like PureZone Elite and Holmes HAP8650B-NU for the price. We also consider to buy it or the Levoit LV-PUR131 instead, due to the similarity in air filtration system and design concept.

So, what’s your answer to this budget purchase?

InvisiClean Sensa Design and Size

InvisiClean’s last few air purifiers have impressed us, and the InvisiClean Sensa is no exception. The overall design inherits a similar look to the old InvisiClean Aura, but it’s slightly different here, giving you a different shade and look.

I’ve found it to be a bold look, which we love, although it’s a look that’s likely to prove similar to those in the market like Levoit LV-PUR131 or GermGuardian AC5900WCA. The size is also the same between these air purifiers, as the InvisiClean Sensa is 18 inches in height, and 12.3 inches in width.

After the InvisiClean Aura has upgraded to the second version, many people hope to see the new design in this InvisiClean Sensa. At the time of writing, the InvisiClean Sensa doesn’t change, still with the plain plate to shield the front air intake grill. This air purifier sports the bottom-to-top air flow system concept, which is general in the type of console air purifier.

The top control panel of InvisiClean Sensa is highlighted with the LED ring of air quality sensor. Other buttons are arranged tidily, making this air purifier more premium than a typical low-end device.

InvisiClean Sensa weighs only 9 lbs, and I must admit it is really, really lightweight.

InvisiClean Sensa Filters

InvisiClean Sensa differs itself from other members of this family with the air filtration system. To be totally ozone-free, the manufacturer straightly removes the ionizer and UV light filter from this air purifier. Therefore, you will only get the 2-stage air cleaning system as below.

  1. Pre-filter – It is attached with the Activated Carbon filter, to capture large particles such as dust and hair, as well as adsorb odors from cooking, pets, smoke and more.
  2. True HEPA filter – The H13 True HEPA filter can remove 99.97% of airborne particles with size down to 0.3 microns like dust, allergens, pet dander, mold spores and pollen.

We can easily see the decrease in performance rating from this InvisiClean Sensa, because it uses the same internal air filters just like the InvisiClean Aura. Though the good True HEPA filter still does most of the job, the ionizer is the extra help to improve the efficiency for the system, thanks to the special function to hold the smallest impurities inside the fiber spaces of HEPA filter.

Just like its brothers, I used the same test to check the performance of this InvisiClean Sensa. In a room of 150 square feet, I ran it in one hour, and compared it with the Winix C535, Coway AP-1216L and GermGuardian AC5350B in the same conditions. These air purifiers are a bit pricier than our today Sensa, and the result was quite in favor of the one with better fan power. You can see from the chart below, our InvisiClean Sensa just only scored an efficiency of 99.9% for trapping any particles down to 0.3 microns, which is quite the same as Levoit LV-PUR131.

The InvisiClean Sensa uses the same air filter as the InvisiClean Aura, and at the time of writing, we’re happy to have a big discount from this company. Now buying both True HEPA and Activated Carbon filters only costs you $34, which is more affordable than even the lowest-budget air filter. If you are aiming at this product, now is the best time to buy it.

InvisiClean Sensa Room Coverage

This InvisiClean Sensa is suggested to cover an area of 320 square feet based on 8-ft ceiling. It is also the normal room coverage from console air purifiers in this price range.

The ACH of InvisiClean Sensa is 4X. This air purifier can clean your room every 15 minutes.

The CADR of InvisiClean Sensa is 170 cfm in general. We will have a more powerful fan in this InvisiClean Sensa than most of air purifiers in the same price. Following InvisiClean’s advertisement, the air output from this air purifier doubles other models in its class, but I can easily find the better fan power from Winix 5500-2 or Winix 5300-2.

InvisiClean Sensa Sound

We always love the silent air purifier. In its very nature, an air purifier is a fan, and it can’t run without any sound. However, the InvisiClean Sensa uses the progressive DC motor to reduce the noise level. As the result, the lowest noise level of this air purifier is only 31 decibels, which is exactly like the whisper.

If you run InvisiClean Sensa on highest speed, the noise level will reach 60 decibels (db), and this turbo mode is quite higher than the average noise level of low to mid-range devices. We can imagine it just like the noise level in your office, so if you apply it for the bedroom, you will inevitably hear the sound. For most people, it is just the white noise, and it can help improve your sleep.

InvisiClean Sensa Power Consumption

In Breathe Quality, one of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?”. In fact, an air purifier needs to run for a long time (usually more than 8 hours) to be efficient, and therefore, power consumption is an important criteria to decide which air purifier to buy.

Without the UV bulb, the InvisiClean Sensa can run as low as only 3 watts, which really impresses me. There is also improvement for the rated power on highest speed, as the InvisiClean Sensa would run with power consumption of only 44 watts.

If you run the InvisiClean Sensa for 8 hours each day, you only need to pay $1 – $16 each year.

InvisiClean Sensa Additional Features

While the InvisiClean Sensa can’t bring the most powerful air filtration system to the users, the additional features section is where this air purifier shines.

This is the first air purifier device in InvisiClean family to bring the precise air sensor to real use, which is followed by the InvisiClean Claro later. The air sensor is made by Sharp, which is also one of the leading air purifier makers in the world, with high-end devices like Sharp FP-A80UW or Sharp KC-860U. You don’t need to check the indoor air quality anymore, as InvisiClean Sensa can automatically analyze and detect changes in air quality for you, and adjust the fan power to match what’s needed to clean your air.

We also welcome a separate Sleep Mode to turn off the display light for bedroom. This button is also used to activate the Child lock function, to prevent any further changes of setting until you press it again.

InvisiClean Sensa also provides not just 4, but 6 different fan speeds (including of Turbo Mode) to serve you. It gives you more versatility on running this air purifier.

Finally, just like previous models of this company, the InvisiClean Sensa still features the basic timer and LED indicator for filter replacement.

Our verdict

The InvisiClean Sensa is more comfortable to use than the previous InvisiClean Aura, but you need to sacrifice the efficiency, due to the loss of ionizer and UV-C light filter. Along with its brother, the InvisiClean Sensa is truly a solution in low-end budget for high fan power, but energy-saving as well.

Sadly, we really like the concept and performance of the InvisiClean Sensa, but we guess the sales of this air purifier can’t help it. So, it is discontinued.
