Dayton 2KXN9 Price

Dayton 2KXN9 is a simple UV air cleaner that suffers from a slightly high price tag for what’s inside. It is for the cheapest budget, but it doesn’t have what to make it a decent budget air purifier.

Dayton’s dogged commitment to producing a wide range of handsets for a wide range of budgets and types of interest continues with the Dayton 2KXN9. The UV light air cleaner is on the market for such a long time, however, studies research that it can emit ozone, which cause severe asthma and other breathing symptoms for the users.

So to say, the Dayton 2KXN9 isn’t recommended to get at the moment, even when the official price tag is just only $53. I recommend to spend at least double the price to get the Dayton 2HPD4, or if you have more in your pocket, you should pay for the Dayton 2HPB9, with a 3-stage HEPA air cleaning system.

Or if you can’t stretch to such budget, perhaps the Levoit LV-H126 or GermGuardian AC4100 would make a decent portable air purifier to buy. I also recommend to look for the Hamilton Beach 04384, as it is the perfect budget air purifier to deal with common odors. Of course, there are many air purifiers you can get for the money to buy Dayton 2KXN9, so keep checking the reviews on Breathe Quality.

Dayton 2KXN9 Design and Size

Unlike the Envion Therapure TPP50, which has similar traits to the Dayton 2KXN9 and comes from another native American brand, this Dayton 2KXN9 has a much more premium feeling in design. However, it shared the same aim of delivering a solid UV light filter at an attractive price. So, nothing too fancy, nothing too expensive.

Still the Dayton 2KXN9 is small. It measures 9.5 inches in height and 3.5 inches in width. The finish is in gray, which is quite like silver for a premium feeling. Still, it is on plastic, and I don’t like to have an UV bulb inside a thin plastic container.

As a portable air purifier, the Dayton 2KXN9 has a simple bottom-to-top air flow system concept. The grills are made large and parallel.

It can be brought anywhere in your home, with the weight of only 2.35 lbs, and the cord length of 6 feet. Also, it comes with a plug-in transformer.

Dayton 2KXN9 Filters

Dayton 2KXN9 resembles the Envion Therapure TPP50, acts like an air sanitizer with only one stage in air filtration system.

1. UV light filter – The Dayton 2KXN9 can kill germs, bacteria and viruses with the UV lamp.
2. TiO2 filter – Works with the UV light to kill the biological pollutants. It can also trap dust and pet hair.

UV light filter is mainly used to kill the biological things in the air, like the viruses, mold spores and bacteria. However, the performance of Dayton 2KXN9 is limited by its very weak fan power. I bet that it can run in a space of maximum 50 square feet.

Moreover, the Dayton 2KXN9 isn’t certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). So far, I can’t recommend you to get this UV air cleaner. You should look for an UV alternatives from Envion or GermGuardian instead.

The UV bulb can last for 20000 hours, and you only need to replace the TiO2 filter after 12-18 months. However, it seems the cost of both filters are quite expensive.

Dayton 2KXN9 Room Coverage

Dayton 2KXN9 is only suggested to use in a space of 50-60 square feet, which fits a bathroom the most. However, for such personal use, I recommend looking for the Sharp IG-EX20.

The ACH of Dayton 2KXN9 is 1X to 2X.

The CADR of Dayton 2KXN9 is just 1.25 cfm in general. It only has two fan speeds.

Dayton 2KXN9 Sound

With such low fan power, the Dayton 2KXN9 is virtually quiet. You can’t hear the sound of this air purifier when operating. Its average noise level is just only 15 decibels (db), and you can run on highest speed without any problem.

However, as silent as it is, I don’t recommend to use the Dayton 2KXN9 in bedroom. I don’t test its ozone emission properly, but any UV cleaners without CARB certification shouldn’t be used.

Dayton 2KXN9 Power Consumption

One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” because we need to run an air purifier for a constant long time, and power consumption is really a thing to consider.

The air purifier is actually just an UV light bulb, so it only uses 5 watts to operate. It is even cheaper than the Envion Therapure TPP50.

If you run the Dayton 2KXN9 for at least 8 hours per day, it would cost you only $1.7 each year.

Dayton 2KXN9 Additional Features

What could you expect from an UV light air cleaner from Dayton – a brand of only old products? It doesn’t have anything to check for the additional features. If you’re desperate to have at least one, get the Dayton 2HPE1 or Dayton 2HPB8 instead.

At the same price, you should look for Airthereal ADH50B, Bissell MyAir, Okaysou AirMic4S or RENPHO RP-AP068 for more additional features.

The Dayton products are now distributed by the W. W. Grainger Inc only, so actually, you won’t get proper support if you buy from other vendors. You should contact Grainger at 800-472-4643, or live chat with them online to ask more questions.
