But again, you should hold on buying this air purifier a little bit more, because in this price range we can find many competitive HEPA air purifiers, with certified physical filter that can actually trap the pollutants. For the majority, we will need the normal HEPA filter, over the simple problem of mold and mildew. So to say, you should pick the Coway AP-1512HH, Honeywell HPA300 or AeraMax 300 instead, if you want an ultimate solution to your everyday dust problem.

The Airfree P1000 is something I’m happy to live with. For an affordable price, the Airfree P1000 comes with a unique portable design that no other brands can copy and make it useful. It’s outshone my expectations in almost every area.

This is also the start for the most signature series of the brand, with the follow-up of the Airfree P2000 and Airfree Onix 3000 right after. It looks like a bullet, but shorter and chunkier, with the dimensions to be: 10.4 inches in height and 8.4 inches in width.

There are 4 separated places to grab the air purifier by your hands, and hidden under the skin is the air intake grills. Airfree P1000 also has grill on the standing, so it can suck the air in the bottom-to-top air flow system. You can see the tiny little perforated holes around the body of this air purifier, which acts as the air outlet.

Instead of using fan, the Airfree P1000 (just like others in this family) uses simple convection to move the air. That’s why this device can only use the bottom-to-top air flow system concept, because the warm air can only rise.

Airfree P1000 weighs 3 lbs, which is amazingly lightweight to use. However, you can even get a lighter device, by using the Airfree Tulip or Airfree BabyAir instead.

Airfree P1000 Filters

The Airfree P1000 doesn’t use the physical HEPA filter like common air purifiers. It makes use of an exclusive technology that’s only available for Airfree products.

1. Exclusive Patented Thermodynamic TSS Technology – This technology has been independently tested in real-world conditions by ISO 17025 laboratories. The Airfree P1000 destroys the microorganisms and allergens by heating it to over 400°F (200°C) and instantly sterilizing it.

The process of eliminating microorganisms is similar to boiling the water, Airfree P1000 will continually draw in the air to proceed the heating, to the point that no common germs or viruses could be alive. Then it will cool the air and release to the room. The heating process occurs only inside the device, thus makes the air purifier warm, not hot.

People used to HEPA air purifiers, which shows the efficiency by the gather of dirt on air filter, may be a little disappointed, or even don’t know if Airfree P1000 works or not. Given how thermodynamic TSS technology works, we can easily realize that the Airfree air purifiers aren’t for capturing the particulate matters. So to say, it’s hard to make a common test for this device, and it’s harder to spot the difference in air quality. Through all of the reviews, I find both positive and negative ones for the performance of Airfree P1000.

In practice, the technology is amazing to deal with mold spores, viruses and bacteria. It can even destroy the harmful toxins and fungus freed into the air by dust mite feces and skeletons. With the heating process, Airfree P1000 ensures to kill every organic allergens, whatever the size are.

We should know that the heating process is not like any ionizer or UV light filtration, it won’t release any ozone and as a result, won’t trigger asthma or any breathing issues for your respiratory system.

Without the installation of air filter, you will no longer need to remember the date of filter replacement, or worry about the air filter cost anymore.

However, its actual performance/value is quite low, so we don’t really recommend get the Airfree P1000 for air cleaning.

From the Airfree P1000, we will see the products of this family working in the medium to large rooms. The manufacturer suggested to use Airfree P1000 in a room of 450 square feet.

Basically, the Airfree P1000 is not a regular air purifier. It doesn’t use the fan as a mean to pull in the air, while the CADR rating indicates volume of filtered air delivered by an air cleaner, which is not designed for Airfree air purifiers. Also, the device needs to run gradually for uninterrupted cycle of air, so there is no ACH rating, either.

Airfree P1000 Sound

Without any fan power, the Airfree P1000 is completely silent. You won’t notice or hear any sound from this air purifier. In fact, you don’t even know if the air purifier is working or not. Airfree suggests to check the top lid and see if it’s warm, the air purifier is working perfectly.

Some people can’t just sleep with even the slightest noise, so the Airfree P1000 is a great solution to both purify your indoor air, and save you from loud noise.

Airfree P1000 Power Consumption

An air purifier is designed to run for a long time to be more efficient, making the high-priority question in Breathe Quality is: “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” To know the answer, we will need to check the power consumption of this air purifier.

The Airfree P1000 must run gradually 24 hours a day to reach the highest efficiency. Moreover, the patented technology of Airfree can’t have its cycle interrupted. But you shouldn’t worry about your energy bill, because the Airfree P1000 only has rated power of 45 watts, which is even lower than most light bulb.

If you run the Airfree P1000 for at least 8 hours each day, you need to pay $16 each year.

Airfree P1000 Additional Features

One common thing shared among all Airfree air purifiers is the lack of additional features. For a device of minimalism, Airfree P1000 doesn’t have any buttons, even for a simple power button. You just only plug it in, and the air purifier will run instantly.

Airfree P1000 has a smart warning sensor, to warn the users if the unit is installed improperly. Moreover, you can feel the anti-stress light from the device, which can be used as a nightlight. There is an on/off button for the light function, however.

The Airfree air purifiers are also backed up with a 2-year warranty policy. Though this is not the best warranty policy in the air purifier industry, it is enough for you to rely on the devices.

The Airfree P1000 is a revolution in air purifier industry, with the exclusive patented thermodynamic TSS technology to purify the indoor air. It is suggested to use for a medium room of up to 450 square feet, with the promise to remove any organic allergens. The device is also completely silent, and you don’t need to worry about the maintenance cost.

However, its performance is low, and its overall ranking is D+, so we can’t recommend this air purifier.
