OION B-1000 Price
Ionizer certainly has potential, and the OION B-1000 is an air purifier certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), so it is safe to use. But it’s not quite enough to get most people to ditch HEPA filter, especially when it has higher performance.
OION has been making a lot of ionizers and ozone generators, and lists almost every country you can think of as a market. The U.S is the main target market, but there’s nothing to stop you getting OION Technologies’ products, thanks to the international shipping.
OION B-1000 is sold at $69 on official OION website, and it’s a bit more expensive than the OION APW-4000, while a lot cheaper than the bulky OION LB-999.
As an ionizer, the air purifier is the main competitor of the Holmes HAP242-NUC, Honeywell HFD-010 or Bionaire BAP536UV-U. However, I believe you should check the Eureka Instant Clear NEA120, Levoit Vista 200 or Vornado AC350 for better performance.

OION B-1000 Design and Size
The design of the OION B-1000 doesn’t appeal me, but it is very distinctive from other ionizers you can find in this price range. A cheap tall ionizer at 17 inches with a very small base (6 inches width and 7 inches depth), OION B-1000 can be put anywhere in your house.
The air purifier has a very weird bottom-to-top air flow system concept, and as both air grills are on the front, it may somehow clean the ‘cleaned’ air again, and reduce the overall efficiency.
It has a blue light at the center of the front plate, to show you if the UV light is active or not. Remember this is just the blue light (the color of the UV bulb), and you can’t change the color like some air purifiers with Nightlight option (for example Levoit LV-H132).
The on/off button is located near the bottom of the air purifier, which is really difficult to turn it on. Maybe the OION B-1000 is designed to be put tabletop, rather than on the ground.
For the weight, OION B-1000 is just 3.8 lbs. It is very compact to use.

OION B-1000 Filters
OION B-1000 uses a 3-stage air cleaning system with 3 different air filter types.
- Activated Carbon filter – Adsorbs cooking smell, pet odors and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
- Ionizer – Negative ions destroys harmful airborne allergens.
- UV-C light filter – A built-in UV-C Sterilizer further eliminates pathogens and germs.
Though more expensive, the OION B-1000 isn’t more efficient in trapping air pollutants than the OION APW-4000. In our previous test, the OION B-1000 was lower in performance, as it trapped only 72% of airborne particles down to 0.3 microns in a room of just 100 square feet. The Envion Ionic Pro CA200 is considered as the better option, but you really should get the HEPA air purifiers like Holmes HAP424-NU or Bissell MyAir.
However, as an ionizer, the OION B-1000 doesn’t need filter replacement. It is the most saving option for any budget users. You still need to clean the collector rod for optimal performance, or change the carbon filter after 6 months. You can get the genuine carbon filter for the OION B-1000 from our deal below.

OION B-1000 Room Coverage
There is no suggestion for the room coverage of this OION B-1000 by the manufacturer, but I believe you should only use the ionizer in a space less than 100 square feet.
The ACH of OION APW-4000 is 2X. This air purifier has low fan power, resulting in less air exchanges per hour.
The CADR of OION APW-4000 is 30 cfm in general.

OION B-1000 Sound
Being an ionizer, the OION B-1000 has a very low fan power. Its noise level is around 35 decibels (db) to maximum of 45 decibels. Somehow you will hear the sound of the electrostatic ions, but it can easily be ignored.

OION B-1000 Power Consumption
One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” In fact, air purifier must be used for a long time to be efficient. And power consumption is one important criteria to review if this air purifier is good or not.
The OION B-1000 has a power consumption from 7.5 to 40 watts, and it is reasonable for an air purifier with such low fan power.
If you run the OION B-1000 for at least 8 hours per day, you only need to pay $3 – $14 each year.

OION B-1000 Additional Features
The OION B-1000 doesn’t even have the Timer option like the OION APW-4000, although it’s more expensive.
I recommend you to research for the VAVA VA-EE004, SilverOnyx or Levoit Core 300 if you want better additional features.
