OION LB-999 Price

The main thing that OION Technologies is keen to point out are the fact it has the True HEPA filter. It isn’t special in the low-range budget anymore, but for a company with only weaker contender, the OION LB-999 is truly their flagship.

But the first thing to note about this air purifier is it isn’t certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) like its brother – the OION B-1000. What’s more curious is that OION still adds the UV-C light filter and ionizer into this device, and it discourages us to pay money for, as these filters tends to emit ozone and affect the respiratory system badly.

For the price, the OION LB-999 is $139. However, this air purifier is always out of stock. You should get back to our deal to check if the air purifier is sold out or not.

For the price, the OION LB-999 matches even the Blue Pure 411 Auto or Levoit Vital 100. And if it doesn’t get a CARB certification soon, it is difficult for the company to compete against these best air purifiers.

OION LB-999 Design and Size

The OION LB-999 is an attractively designed air purifier, but it feels like a cheap device. And at first glance reminds me of the air purifier from Korea, like LG or Winix. Sadly, the same designed models aren’t sold in the US, and there’s no way to test it, especially in the middle of the 2020 presidential election.

But, yes, it feels cheap, mainly because of its selection of color. It could be bigger than both the predecessors: OION B-1000 and OION APW-4000 at 22 inches, however it is a compact air purifier. At 12.6 lbs, you can move this air purifier anywhere in your home.

The air purifier comes with a simple bottom-to-top air flow system concept, just like any ordinary air purifiers. It removes the Night Light function, so certainly we don’t use the OION LB-999 at the night stand.

OION LB-999 Filters

OION LB-999 is advertised to have 5-stage air cleaning system with many different air filter types.

1. Pre-filter – The anti-bacterial pre-filter can trap large pollutants and remove germs from your air.
2. Activated Carbon filter – Adsorbs cooking smell, pet odors and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
3. True HEPA filter – The main reason to get OION LB-999 is this filter, as it can filter out 99.9% of the household allergens, mold, dust, pet dander, smoke, and mal-odors.
4. Ionizer – Electrostatic RF ionizer releases negative ions to destroy harmful airborne allergens.
5. UV-C light filter – A built-in UV-C Sterilizer further eliminates pathogens and germs. Combines with the TiO2 filter,

Well, the OION LB-999 is a lot better than its predecessors. In the same test, it has at least 20% higher performance than the OION APW-4000 and 27% higher performance than the OION B-1000. It is also the better choice than the Envion Ionic Pro CA200, Holmes HAP424-NU or Bissell MyAir.

The True HEPA filter of this product is sold at $19. Make sure to replace the filter every 6 months to get the optimal performance.

OION LB-999 Room Coverage

OION LB-999 should be used in 100 square feet at maximum, as its fan power is really weak.

The ACH of OION LB-999 is 2X. This air purifier has low fan power, resulting in less air exchanges per hour.

The CADR of OION LB-999 is 20 cfm in general.

OION LB-999 Sound

The OION LB-999 is quite silent because it has low fan power. We measured the sound level at around 40 decibels (db), and you won’t notice any sound when using this air purifier.

OION LB-999 Power Consumption

One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” In fact, air purifier must be used for a long time to be efficient. And power consumption is one important criteria to review if this air purifier is good or not.

The OION LB-999 has a power consumption from just 4 to 40 watts, and it is reasonable for an air purifier with such low fan power.

If you run the OION LB-999 for at least 8 hours per day, you only need to pay $1.8 – $14 each year. It is even lower than the OION B-1000.

OION LB-999 Additional Features

The OION LB-999 doesn’t have the Timer option like the OION APW-4000. It only can turn off the light setting, as well as have a LED indicator for filter replacement.

I recommend you to research for the VAVA VA-EE004, SilverOnyx or Levoit Core 300 if you want better additional features.
