We know that the Cuckoo CAC-I0510FW is designed for small rooms, which is typical for the entry point to Cuckoo’s US air purifier range. Cuckoo lists it at $129, a bit higher than the normal competition. However, you must remember this is an air purifier made in South Korea, where they don’t know how to mass-produce dirt-cheap devices. You can take a look at LG or Samsung, and the most affordable picks from them are far from the cheapest.
We recommend looking at the Coway Airmega 50 or Coway Airmega 100 instead, both of which are from a South Korean company dedicated to air purifiers. The Airmega 50 offers similar performance to the Cuckoo CAC-I0510FW, but is $50 cheaper, while the Airmega 100 does much better than the Cuckoo air purifier.
Even American air purifiers are cheaper with similar or better performance, like the Honeywell HPA125 and GermGuardian AC3000. If Cuckoo wants to dominate the North American market, they must do a lot more. You can also look at the Levoit Vital 100S at the same price, and honestly, this is the best air purifier you can get for $129.

Cuckoo CAC-I0510FW Design and Size
We said earlier that you may like Cuckoo’s pared back look. That look is defined by its slim cylinder, which lets Cuckoo fit into a footprint smaller than a sheet of letter paper. The Cuckoo CAC-I0510FW has a narrow profile, at only 7.7 inches in diameter. It can slot into a corner that would swallow a boxier unit. That’s good news if you’re working with a small bedroom where every inch counts.
But, the Cuckoo CAC-I0510FW is quite tall, at 15.3 inches in height. It is a good example of the 360-degree cylinder layout that is very popular since the Levoit LV-H132. Air is drawn in around the lower body and pushed out through the top vent, so the unit doesn’t need to face any particular direction. From across the room, at least, it doesn’t look like a cheap appliance.
The white body of the Cuckoo CAC-I0510FW has a clean matte finish, with a perforated intake pattern wrapping around its lower half. It’s a simple and clean design, to the point that you can mistake the South Korean air purifier for a no-name Chinese air purifier. It’s okay, we don’t think Cuckoo is going to sell the CAC-I0510FW based on its design.
For an air purifier like the Cuckoo CAC-I0510FW, you can expect a light air machine. It’s only 4.2 lbs, so you can move the Cuckoo CAC-I0510FW anywhere in your room.

We check the performance of one air purifiers based on its air filters’ quality and material, as well as the number of air filter types in the testing device. The Cuckoo CAC-I0510FW uses a simple 3-in-1 air filter.

You need to replace the filter (CACF-IAF) for the Cuckoo CAC-I0510FW after 6 months, at a cost of $34. It is a bit expensive to maintain this air purifier, and we hope to see a better price tag next time.

Cuckoo CAC-I0510FW Sound
Not every room needs heavy-duty cleaning. Far from it. When you just want a small-room air purifier, the Cuckoo CAC-I0510FW is just right for you. Its lowest noise level is only 22 decibels (dB), which is reasonable for such a weak fan power. Clearly the manufacturer wants to sell this air purifier for bedrooms.
On its highest speed, the noise level is around 48 dB, which is still very quiet for maximum speed.

Cuckoo CAC-I0510FW Power Consumption
As one of the most criteria when deciding to buy an air purifier, one of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?”. In fact, an air purifier needs to run for a long time (usually more than 8 hours) to be efficient.
