Airthereal AEH300 Price

The Airthereal AEH300 is a combination air purifier and humidifier that settles in the low-range segment. It is the dominated realm of Airthereal, with all of its air purifiers are below $149.

So the Airthereal AEH300 will do the same at around $109, but this time Airthereal chooses to make a humidifier + air purifier combo. We were also unexpectedly fond of – or unperturbed by, at least – Airthereal’s evaporative humidification approach, which is far less messy in this mist-free guise. It isn’t uncommon to find such a combo in this price range, and an Airthereal product is always better than a random, no-name Chinese air purifier.

The competition for the Airthereal AEH300 mostly comes from real humidifiers, which we don’t make reviews at the moment. Others like the Honeywell HPA125, GermGuardian AC3000, Levoit Core 300 or Coway Airmega 100 generally don’t have humidifier function.

Airthereal AEH300 Design and Size

The Airthereal AEH300 is just about as generic an air purifier design as you’re likely to find. Its cylindrical body, 360° intake ring at the base, smooth upward taper toward the humidifier cap, and its general feel in a room will be extremely familiar if you’ve scouted the sub-$150 combo purifier space in the last few years.

But one thing we will want to address about the design of the Airthereal AEH300: it’s a tall tower air purifier. At 21 inches, the Airthereal AEH300 can compare to some old GermGuardian devices like the GermGuardian AC4825 or GermGuardian AC4880.

Such familiarity isn’t necessarily a bad thing of course, and neither is it a surprise when combo-unit budgets are so stretched. Quality is preferable to novelty at this end of the market, and the Airthereal AEH300 is a very well-assembled piece of kit.

Its smooth plastic exterior fits nicely in a corner or against a wall, although the light surface is an absolute dust and fingerprint magnet. At 7.3 lbs and 21 inches tall, it’s comfortably in that ‘just right’ zone for a floor-standing unit, and you’ll never feel that twinge of annoyance about shifting it for a clean.

There are two versions of humidifier filter for the Airthereal AEH300, but both won’t affect the performance. The water tank sits nicely above the air purifier, so the air output will spread the necessary humidity for your whole room. If you want to remove the humidifier part, the Airthereal AEH300 turns into a standalone air purifier easily.

We have only one problem with this design: the front control panel is located far too low for our interest. It isn’t easy when you need to reach the control board, and the Airthereal AEH300 doesn’t have the premium feel of Wi-Fi capability like the Airthereal APH320 and Airthereal AGH400.

Airthereal AEH300 Filters

Normally, we will check the quality and quantity of the air filters to decide its performance, as well as the air filter types being used. The Airthereal AEH300 has a simple 3-in-1 air filter.

1. Pre-filter – A simple nylon preliminary filter covers the True HEPA filter, to prolong the life time of the core filter, by trapping the large objects of pollutants like fur, hair and large dust.

In the past, Airthereal always tried to boast about multiple filtration layers, consisting of both a mechanical HEPA filter and UV-C light purification. The Airthereal AEH300 keeps it simple with only a 3-in-1 air filter, which is very popular in cylindrical designs.

Performance-wise, the Airthereal AEH300 is overkill for a $100 air purifier. It is practically designed to deal with even medium-sized rooms, and the performance at the usual price point proves to be too easy for this air purifier.

However, because the Airthereal AEH300 requires you to replace both the air purifier and humidifier filters, the total annual filter cost is quite high. At $79, and with the filter lasting only 6 months, its annual filter cost is like buying a whole new Airthereal AEH300, which is only $109 and can be even cheaper with our deal (currently at $93).

Airthereal AEH300 Room Coverage

Airthereal suggests using the Airthereal AEH300 in rooms up to 1,200 square feet. Though the suggestion is too large to follow, it does mean the Airthereal AEH300 has high fan power. You can safely use it in rooms up to 275 square feet.

The ACH of the Airthereal AEH300 is 4X. If you’re try to follow its suggestion, it is based on 1 ACH.

The CADR of the Airthereal AEH300 is 170 cfm in general.

Airthereal AEH300 Sound

Airthereal has resisted using a cheaper ultrasonic misting system, as other manufacturers might have done at this price. However, it means the Airthereal AEH300 will have audible noise on its highest speed. We recorded the noise level as high as 54 decibels.

On its lowest speed, the noise level is decent at only 24 dB, and thanks to its Smart Sensor, you can use the air purifier while sleeping.

Airthereal AEH300 Power Consumption

One of our most FAQs is “Do air purifiers use a lot of energy?” In fact, air purifier must be used for a long time to be efficient. And power consumption is one important criteria to review if this air purifier is good or not.

The Airthereal AEH300 has a rated power of 22 watts, and the unit runs on a DC power supply. Sadly, it seems Airthereal doesn’t try to bring its air purifiers for Energy Star rating anymore.

If you run the Airthereal AEH300 for 8 hours per day, it would cost you $9.64 each year.

Airthereal AEH300 Additional Features

The Airthereal AEH300 has a 1.5L tank to power its humidifier function, which isn’t really enough to offer longer overnight run times. We know that the Airthereal AEH300 is supposed to have an additional humidifier function, but as you don’t have a standalone humidification mode here, you must accept that this isn’t a dedicated feature.

For the Smart Sensor, Airthereal uses a special PM2.5 laser sensor for the Airthereal AEH300. It is quite good, and the numerical AQI is more to our liking than a simple LED AQI.

The Airthereal AEH300 has a Child lock feature, as well as a 24-hour timer. It also has a LED indicator for filter replacement.

Our verdict

The Airthereal AEH300 should be higher on our list, but its lack of official verification and high annual filter cost is too severe for its ranking. Still, for pure air purification performance, we think the Airthereal AEH300 is a very good device, with clear AQI and silent operation on its low speed.
