Aeris got a lot right with its lite version, the Aeris aair Lite, and while its successor shares a very similar concept of air cleaning, a quick look at the Aeris aair 3-in-1 Pro’s spec sheet shows everything has been turbo-charged this time around.

In short, we will get an air purifier with such high fan power as any of the Austin Air or AllerAir devices, with smart features that can only be seen on the high-end Winix T1 or the flagships of Boneco and IQAir. However, the Aeris aair 3-in-1 Pro still has the most quiet operation for use in bedrooms.

For all those strengths, we need to spend $999 for the Aeris aair 3-in-1 Pro. The question is, do you really want a beast like that in your daily indoor air cleaning routine? At least for us, after days of using it for testing, the answer is a resounding ‘yes’.

For the big competitors, you can look for the IQAir HealthPro Plus, IQAir GC MultiGas or Boneco H680 for the same performance. Only the Boneco H680 comes with an additional humidifier function, so it costs a bit more.

Aeris aair 3-in-1 Pro Design and Size

The Aeris aair 3-in-1 Pro, unlike the Lite version, is a real console air purifier. It is big, but in a very different way from other huge air purifiers like the AllerAir AirMedic Pro 5 or the Austin Air Bedroom Machine. In fact, it looks like a budget air purifier with a height of 23.6 inches and a width of 14.6 inches.

Starting with weight, the Aeris aair 3-in-1 Pro comes in at a hefty 33 lbs – compare that to the only 23-lb Boneco H680 or 35-lb IQAir HealthPro Plus. Maybe the definition of a high-range air purifier is its heavy weight, as there are many other air purifiers that are more difficult to lift.

Aeris told me that its design was awarded by the Red Dot and IF Design for the mainstream bottom-to-top airflow system concept. The polluted air will flow in through the 360° air intake at the bottom, get filtered by a big air filtration system, and release through the top air outlet.

Aeris aair 3-in-1 Pro Filters

To decide the performance of one air purifier, we normally check the quantity and quality of its air filters, including the types of air filters. The Aeris aair 3-in-1 Pro, as its name suggests, has a typical 3-stage air cleaning system.

1. Pre-filter – The Aeris aair 3-in-1 Pro uses a F7 pre-filter, to pick up large pollutants like dust and pet dander.
2. Activated Carbon filter – It has 1.8 lbs of zeolite carbon and activated alumina to deliver basic adsorption for odors, cooking, and pet odors.
3. True HEPA filter – The Aeris aair 3-in-1 traps any fine particles as small as 0.3 microns with the H13 HEPA filter, having a high efficiency of up to 99.97%.

Aeris aair 3-in-1 Pro uses a simple but powerful air filtration system, with the core being a H13 medical-grade True HEPA filter, which has four times more fiberglass (Aeris calls it Swiss-diamond fiberglass). As a result, the filter can last up to 12 months without replacement.

To improve the air filtration system for specific needs, Aeris offers two different options. The first is the Medical Pro filter, with an F9 pre-filter and high-quality True HEPA filter to capture even ultra-fine particles as small as 0.1 microns. This air filter has the same performance rating as the HyperHEPA filter from IQAir.

The second one is for people who need a better solution to remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from paints, aerosols, cleaning agents, smoke, and formaldehyde. It will upgrade the granulated gas filter with 3.3 lbs of zeolite carbon, activated alumina, and a pleated gas filter.

There are two high-end levels you can get from this air purifier: Aeris aair Medical Pro and Aeris aair Gas Pro. The Medical Pro version is for customers who need medical-grade air cleaning in large areas, and the Gas Pro version is ideal for gas removal. To test this air purifier, I used the most difficult test in Breathe Quality, with a huge space of 400 square feet. I ran the Aeris aair 3-in-1 Pro in 1 hour and let it perform against competitors like the Oransi EJ120, Medify MA-112 and Austin Air HealthMate Plus. Sadly, I didn’t have the IQAir GC MultiGas for the test, so I used the past result to give you a better comparison. As you can see, the Aeris aair 3-in-1 Pro had an impressive efficiency of trapping 99.95% of any pollutants down to 0.3 microns in size. Though the result isn’t the best, I bet that it is enough for an ultimate air purifier.

However, the filter replacement cost is also higher than the previous lite version, as it starts at $199. You must buy the genuine Aeris air filter because its filter set is quite unique compared to the others.

The Aeris aair 3-in-1 Pro uses the advanced fan from ebm-papst, so it can deliver strong airflow while keeping the noise level as low as possible. The fact is, Swiss air purifiers tend to be quiet, and whisper-quiet operation is one of the many selling points of Aeris air purifiers.

That being said, the Aeris aair 3-in-1 Pro keeps the lowest noise level astonishingly low at 35 decibels (dB). That’s a lot quieter than the library’s environment, and you won’t notice any sound when it’s operating.

However, at its highest speed, this air purifier has a noise level of 67 decibels. It is near the level of the noise on roads, so you should make sure to keep this air purifier on low whenever possible.

You can get a full refund without any reason for the first 7 days from the purchase date; however, you need to cover all the shipping costs. Or you can exchange the device within 30 days if it’s defective due to a manufacturing failure.

Aeris provides a simple 2-year warranty for its air purifiers, including the main components such as the fan, the body, and the Wi-Fi module. Remember that the warranty doesn’t cover malfunctions caused by misuse of the device by the users.

Our verdict

Aeris aair 3-in-1 Pro has everything you need in an ultimate air purifier, making it a flagship with an even higher price than the top-tier units of big air purifier brands. But it could be the perfect strategy for a microbrand because competing in a low-range market can never be easy again.

What I like is perhaps its really innovative air filter, which is made to be exceptionally efficient. All air filters are made in-house with Swiss-made quality, and you really need such an ultra-high-quality air filtration system to be worth the money.

However, this air purifier is a big boy, and you should expect it to be loud and energy-consuming. These are just a few minor downsides to having a high-quality product, right?
